Chapter 12 ¹ Now the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Abram,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 Get thee out of thy country,𐤌𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤊 and from thy kindred,𐤅𐤌𐤌𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤊 and from thy father's𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 house,𐤅𐤌𐤁𐤉𐤕 unto a land𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 that I will shew𐤀𐤓𐤀𐤊 thee: Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Ἁβρἀμ Ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς σου καὶ συγγενείας σου καὶ ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σου, εἰς τὴν γῆν ἢν ἄν δείξω. ² And I will make of thee𐤅𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤊 a great𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 nation,𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉 and I will bless𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊 thee, and make𐤅𐤀𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤄 thy name𐤔𐤌𐤊 great; and thou shalt be a blessing:𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 καὶ ποιήσω σε εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ εὐλογήσω σε καὶ τὸ ὄνομά σου, καὶ ἔσῃ εὐλογητός· ³ And I will bless𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 them that bless𐤌𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤊 thee, and curse𐤀𐤀𐤓 him that curseth𐤅𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤋𐤊 thee: and in thee shall all families𐤌𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕 of the earth𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 be blessed.𐤅𐤍𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤅 καὶ εὐλογήσω τοὺς εὐλογοῦντάς σε, καὶ τοὺς καταρωμένους σε καταράσομαι, καὶ εὐλογηθήσονται ἐν σοὶ πᾶσαι οἱ φυλαὶ τῆς γῆς. ⁴ So Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 departed, as the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 had spoken𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto him; and Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 went with him: and Abram𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 was seventy𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤌 and five𐤇𐤌𐤔 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 old𐤁𐤍 when he departed𐤁𐤑𐤀𐤕𐤅 out of Haran.𐤌𐤇𐤓𐤍 καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ἀβρὰμ καθάπερ κύριος, καὶ ᾤχετο μετ’ αὐτοῦ Λώτ· Ἀβρὰμ δὲ ἦν ἐτῶν πέντε ὅτε ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ Χαρράν. ⁵ And Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 Sarai𐤔𐤓𐤉 his wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 and Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 his brother's𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 son,𐤁𐤍 and all their substance𐤓𐤊𐤅𐤔𐤌 that they had gathered,𐤓𐤊𐤔𐤅 and the souls𐤄𐤍𐤐𐤔 that they had gotten𐤏𐤔𐤅 in Haran;𐤁𐤇𐤓𐤍 and they went forth𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 to go into the land𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 of Canaan;𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 and into the land𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 of Canaan𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 they came.𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀𐤅 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀβρὰμ τὴν Σάρα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸν Λὼτ υἱὸν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ὐπά αὐτῶν ὅσα ἐκτήσαντο καὶ πᾶσαν ψυχὴν ἢν ἐκτήσαντο ἐκ Χαρράν, καὶ ἐξήλθοσαν πορευθῆναι εἰς γῆν Χανάαν καὶ ἦλθον εἰς γῆν Χανάαν. ⁶ And Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 passed through𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 the land𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 unto the place𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 of Sichem,𐤔𐤊𐤌 unto the plain𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤍 of Moreh.𐤌𐤅𐤓𐤄 And the Canaanite𐤅𐤄𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍𐤉 was then𐤀𐤆 in the land.𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ διώδευσεν Ἁβρὰμ εἰς τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς ἕως τοῦ τόπου Συχέμ, ἐπὶ δρῦν τὴν ὑψηλήν· οἱ δὲ Χαναναῖοι τότε κατῴκουν τὴν γῆν. ⁷ And the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 appeared𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 unto Abram,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Unto thy seed𐤋𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 will I give𐤀𐤕𐤍 this𐤄𐤆𐤀𐤕 land:𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and there builded𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤍 he an altar𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 unto the Lord,𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 who appeared𐤄𐤍𐤓𐤀𐤄 unto him. καὶ ὤφθη Κύριος τῷ Ἀβρὰμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ τῷ σπέρματί σου δώσω τὴν γῆν ταύτην· καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ Ἀβρὰμ θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ τῷ ὀφθέντι αὐτῶ. ⁸ And he removed𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤕𐤒 from thence unto a mountain𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤄 on the east𐤌𐤒𐤃𐤌 of Beth–el,𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕 and pitched𐤅𐤉𐤈 his tent,𐤀𐤄𐤋𐤅 having Beth–el𐤀𐤋 on the west,𐤌𐤉𐤌 and Hai𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤉 on the east:𐤌𐤒𐤃𐤌 and there he builded𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤍 an altar𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 unto the Lord,𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 upon the name𐤁𐤔𐤌 of the Lord.𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 καὶ ἀπέστη ἐκεῖθεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ’ ἀνατολὰς Βαιθήλ, ἔστησεν ἐκεῖ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν Βαιθὴλ κατὰ θάλασσαν καὶ κατ’ ἀνατολάς· καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου. ⁹ And Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 journeyed,𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤏 going on𐤄𐤋𐤅𐤊 still𐤅𐤍𐤎𐤅𐤏 toward the south.𐤄𐤍𐤂𐤁𐤄 𐤐 καὶ ἀπῆρεν Ἀβρὰμ ἐστρατοπέδευσεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ. ¹⁰ And there was a famine𐤓𐤏𐤁 in the land:𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 and Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 went down𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤃 into Egypt𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌𐤄 to sojourn𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤓 there; for the famine𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤁 was grievous𐤊𐤁𐤃 in the land.𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 Καὶ ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· καὶ κατέβη Ἀβρὰμ παροικῆσαι ἐκεῖ, ὅτι ἐνίσχυσεν ὁ λιμὸς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ¹¹ And it came to pass, when𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 he was come near𐤄𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤁 to enter𐤋𐤁𐤅𐤀 into Egypt,𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌𐤄 that he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Sarai𐤔𐤓𐤉 his wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 Behold𐤄𐤍𐤄 now,𐤍𐤀 I know𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤉 that thou art a fair𐤉𐤐𐤕 woman𐤀𐤔𐤄 to look upon:𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤄 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤγγισεν Ἀβρὰμ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, εἶπεν Ἀβρὰμ Σάρα γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ Γινώσκω ἐγὼ ὅτι γυνὴ εὐπρόσωπος εἶ· ¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 shall see𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 thee, that they shall say,𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 This is his wife:𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 and they will kill𐤅𐤄𐤓𐤂𐤅 me, but they will save thee alive.𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤅 ἔσται οὖν ὡς ἄν ἴδωσίν σε οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι, ἐροῦσιν ὅτι Γυνὴ αὐτοῦ ἐστὶν αὐτή· καὶ ἀποκτενοῦσίν με, σὲ δὲ περιποιήσονται. ¹³ Say,𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉 I pray thee,𐤍𐤀 thou art my sister:𐤀𐤇𐤕𐤉 that𐤋𐤌𐤏𐤍 it may be well𐤉𐤉𐤈𐤁 with me for thy sake; and my soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 shall live𐤅𐤇𐤉𐤕𐤄 because of thee.𐤁𐤂𐤋𐤋𐤊 εἰπὸν οὖν ὅτι Ἀδελφὴ αὐτοῦ εἰμί, ὅπως ἄν εὖ μοι γένηται διὰ σέ, καὶ ζήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου ἕνεκεν σοῦ. ¹⁴ And it came to pass, that, when Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 was come𐤊𐤁𐤅𐤀 into Egypt,𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌𐤄 the Egyptians𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 beheld𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 the woman𐤄𐤀𐤔𐤄 that she was very𐤌𐤀𐤃 fair.𐤉𐤐𐤄 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα εἰσῆλθεν Ἀβράμ εἰς Μrπτον, ἰδόντες οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ ὅτι καλὴ ἦν σφόδρα, ¹⁵ The princes𐤔𐤓𐤉 also of Pharaoh𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 her, and commended𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤋𐤋𐤅 her before𐤀𐤋 Pharaoh:𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 and the woman𐤄𐤀𐤔𐤄 was taken𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤇 into Pharaoh's𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 house.𐤁𐤉𐤕 καὶ ἴδον αὐτὴν οἱ ἄρχοντες Φαραὼ καὶ ἐπῄνεσαν αm̓ὴν πρὸς Φαραὼ καὶ εἰσήγαγον αὐτὴν πρὸς Φαραώ. ¹⁶ And he entreated𐤄𐤉𐤈𐤉𐤁 Abram𐤅𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 well for her sake: and he had sheep,𐤑𐤀𐤍 and oxen,𐤅𐤁𐤒𐤓 and he asses,𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 and menservants,𐤅𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 and maidservants,𐤅𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕 and she asses,𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤕 and camels.𐤅𐤂𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤌 καὶ τῷ Ἁβρὰμ εὑ ἐχρήσαντο δι' αm̓ήν, καὶ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχοι καὶ ὄνοι, παῖδες κα παδσκαι, ἡμίονοι καὶ κάμηλοι. ¹⁷ And the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 plagued𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤂𐤏 Pharaoh𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 and his house𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 with great𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤉𐤌 plagues𐤍𐤂𐤏𐤉𐤌 because of𐤃𐤁𐤓 Sarai𐤔𐤓𐤉 Abram's𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 wife.𐤀𐤔𐤕 καὶ ἤτασεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν Φαραὼ ἐτασμοῖς μεγάλοις καὶ πονηροῖς καὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ περὶ Σόρας τῆς γυναικὸς ¹⁸ And Pharaoh𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 Abram,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 What is this that thou hast done𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 unto me? why didst thou not tell𐤄𐤂𐤃𐤕 me that she was thy wife?𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 καλέσας δὲ Φαραὼ τὸν Ἀβρὰμ εἶπεν Τί τοῦτο ἐποίησάς μοι, ὄτι οὐκ ἀπήηειλός μοι ὅτι γυνή σού ἐστιν; ¹⁹ Why saidst thou,𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕 She is my sister?𐤀𐤇𐤕𐤉 so I might have taken𐤅𐤀𐤒𐤇 her to me to wife:𐤋𐤀𐤔𐤄 now therefore behold thy wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 take𐤒𐤇 her, and go thy way. ἵνα τί εἴπας ὅτι μού ἐστιν,. καὶ ἔλαβον αὐτὴν ἐμαυτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα. κα νῦν ἰδοὺ ἡ γυνή σου ἐναντίον σου· λαβὼν ἀπότρεχε. ²⁰ And Pharaoh𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 commanded𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤅 his men𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 concerning him: and they sent him away,𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤅 and his wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 and all that he had. καὶ ἐνετείλατο Φαραὼ ἀωδράσιν περὶ Ἀβράμ, συνπροπέμψαι αὐτὸν καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ, καὶ Λὼτ μετ’ αὐτοῦ.
