Chapter 31 ¹ And he heard𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏 the words𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 of Laban's𐤋𐤁𐤍 sons,𐤁𐤍𐤉 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 hath taken away𐤋𐤒𐤇 all that was our father's;𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 and of that which was our father's𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 hath he gotten𐤏𐤔𐤄 all this glory.𐤄𐤊𐤁𐤃 Ἤκουσεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ τὰ ῥήματα τῶν υἱῶν Λαβὰν λεγόντων Εἴληφεν Ἰακὼβ πάντα τὰ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐκ τῶν τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν πεποίηκεν πᾶσαν τὴν δόξαν ταύτην. ² And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 beheld𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 the countenance𐤐𐤍𐤉 of Laban,𐤋𐤁𐤍 and, behold, it was not toward him as𐤊𐤕𐤌𐤅𐤋 before.𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤅𐤌 καὶ εἶδεν Ἰακὼβ τὸ πρόσωπον λαβάν, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν. ³ And the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Return𐤔𐤅𐤁 unto the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 of thy fathers,𐤀𐤁𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤊 and to thy kindred;𐤅𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤊 and I will be with thee. εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Ἰακώβ Ἀποστρέφου εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ εἰς τὴν γενεάν σου, καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σοῦ. ⁴ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 sent𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 and called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 Rachel𐤋𐤓𐤇𐤋 and Leah𐤅𐤋𐤋𐤀𐤄 to the field𐤄𐤔𐤃𐤄 unto his flock,𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤅 ἀποστείλας δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἐκάλεσεν Ῥαχὴλ καὶ Λείαν εἰς τὸ πεδίον οὗ τὰ ποίμνια, ⁵ And said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, I see𐤓𐤀𐤄 your father's𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤍 countenance,𐤐𐤍𐤉 that it is not toward me as𐤊𐤕𐤌𐤋 before;𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤌 but the God𐤅𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 hath been𐤄𐤉𐤄 with me. καὶ εἶπεν αὐταῖς Ὁρῶ ἐγὼ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν ὄτι οὐκ ἔστιν μετ’ ἐμοῦ ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν· ὁ δὲ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου ἦν μετ’ ἐμοῦ· ⁶ And ye𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤄 know𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤍 that with all my power𐤊𐤇𐤉 I have served𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉 your father.𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤍 καὶ αὐταὶ δὲ οἴδατε ὅτι ἐν πάσῃ ἰσχύι μου δεδούλευκα τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν. ⁷ And your father𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤍 hath deceived𐤄𐤕𐤋 me, and changed𐤅𐤄𐤇𐤋𐤐 my wages𐤌𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉 ten𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤕 times;𐤌𐤍𐤉𐤌 but God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 suffered him𐤍𐤕𐤍𐤅 not to hurt𐤋𐤄𐤓𐤏 me.𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤉 δὲ πατὴρ ὑμῶν παρεκρούσατό με, καὶ ἤλλαξεν τὸν μισθόν μου τῶν δέκα ἀμνῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς κακοποιῆσαί με. ⁸ If he said𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 thus, The speckled𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 shall be thy wages;𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤊 then all the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 bare𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤅 speckled:𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 and if he said𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 thus, The ringstraked𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 shall be thy hire;𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤊 then bare𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤅 all the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 ringstraked.𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 ἐὰν οὕτως εἴπῃ Τὰ ποικίλα ἔσται σου μισθός, καὶ τέξεται τὰ πρόβατα ποικίλα· ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ Τὰ λευκὰ ἔσται σου μισθός, καὶ τέξεται πάντα τὰ πρόβατα λευκά· ⁹ Thus God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath taken away𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤋 the cattle𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤄 of your father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 and given𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 them to me. καὶ ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς πάντα κτήνη τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι αὐτά. ¹⁰ And it came to pass at the time𐤁𐤏𐤕 that the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 conceived,𐤉𐤇𐤌 that I lifted up𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤀 mine eyes,𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 and saw𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤀 in a dream,𐤁𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 and, behold, the rams𐤄𐤏𐤕𐤃𐤉𐤌 which leaped𐤄𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤌 upon the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 were ringstraked,𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 speckled,𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 and grisled.𐤅𐤁𐤓𐤃𐤉𐤌 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐνεκίσσων τὰ πρόβατα, καὶ ἴδον ἐν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ, καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ τράγοι καὶ οἱ κριοὶ ἀναβαίνοντες ἦσαν ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἶγας διάλευκοι καὶ ποικίλοι καὶ σποδοειδεῖς ῥαντοί. ¹¹ And the angel𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊 of God𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 spake𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto me in a dream,𐤁𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 saying, Jacob:𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 And I said,𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 Here am I. καὶ εἶπέν ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ καθ’ ὕπνον Ἰακὼβ Ἰακώβ. ἐγὼ δὲ εἶπα Τί ἐστιν; ¹² And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Lift up𐤔𐤀 now thine eyes,𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤊 and see,𐤅𐤓𐤀𐤄 all the rams𐤄𐤏𐤕𐤃𐤉𐤌 which leap𐤄𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤌 upon the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 are ringstraked,𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 speckled,𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 and grisled:𐤅𐤁𐤓𐤃𐤉𐤌 for I have seen𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕𐤉 all that Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 doeth𐤏𐤔𐤄 unto thee. καὶ εἶπεν Ἀνάβλεψον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου, καὶ ἴδε τοὺς τράγους τοὺς κριοὺς ἀναβαίνοντας ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἶγας διαλεύκους καὶ ποικίλους καὶ σποδοειδεῖς ῥαντούς· ἑώρακα γὰρ ὅσα σοι λαβὰν ποιεῖ. ¹³ I am the God𐤄𐤀𐤋 of Beth–el,𐤁𐤉𐤕 where thou anointedst𐤌𐤔𐤇𐤕 the pillar,𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 and where thou vowedst𐤍𐤃𐤓𐤕 a vow𐤍𐤃𐤓 unto me: now arise,𐤒𐤅𐤌 get thee out𐤑𐤀 from this land,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and return𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤁 unto the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 of thy kindred.𐤌𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤊 ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεὸς ὁ ὀφθείς σοι ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ᾧ ἤλειψάς μοι ἐκεῖ στήλην καὶ ηὔξω μοι ἐκεῖ εὐχήν· νῦν οὖν ἀν’ ἀνάστηθι καὶ ἄπελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς ταύτης καὶ ἄπελθε εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς γενέσεως σου, καὶ μετὰ σοῦ. ¹⁴ And Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 and Leah𐤅𐤋𐤀𐤄 answered𐤅𐤕𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤍𐤄 unto him, Is there yet any portion𐤇𐤋𐤒 or inheritance𐤅𐤍𐤇𐤋𐤄 for us in our father's𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 house?𐤁𐤁𐤉𐤕 καὶ ἀποκριθεῖσα Ῥαχὴλ καὶ Λεία εἶπαν ἡμῖν ἔτι μερὶς ἢ κληρονομία ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν; ¹⁵ Are we not counted𐤍𐤇𐤔𐤁𐤍𐤅 of him strangers?𐤍𐤊𐤓𐤉𐤅𐤕 for he hath sold𐤌𐤊𐤓𐤍𐤅 us, and hath quite𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋 devoured𐤀𐤊𐤅𐤋 also our money.𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤍𐤅 οὐχ ὡς αἱ ἀλλότριαι λελογίσμεθα αὐτῷ; πέπρακεν γὰρ ἡμᾶς, καὶ κατέφαγεν καταβρώσει τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν. ¹⁶ For all the riches𐤄𐤏𐤔𐤓 which God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath taken𐤄𐤑𐤉𐤋 from our father,𐤌𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 that is ours, and our children's:𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤅 now then, whatsoever God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath said𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto thee, do.𐤏𐤔𐤄 πάντα τὸν πλοῦτον καὶ τὴν ἣν ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν, ἡμῖν ἔσται καὶ τοῖς ἡμῶν· νῦν οὖν ὅσα εἴρηκεν ὁ θεός σοι ποίει. ¹⁷ Then Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 rose up,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌 and set𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 his sons𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 and his wives𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤅 upon camels;𐤄𐤂𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤌 Ἀναστὰς δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἔλαβεν τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὰς καμήλους· ¹⁸ And he carried away𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤄𐤂 all his cattle,𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤄𐤅 and all his goods𐤓𐤊𐤔𐤅 which he had gotten,𐤓𐤊𐤔 the cattle𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤄 of his getting,𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤅 which he had gotten𐤓𐤊𐤔 in Padan–aram,𐤁𐤐𐤃𐤍 for to go𐤋𐤁𐤅𐤀 to Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 in the land𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 of Canaan.𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 καὶ ἀπήγαγεν πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτοῦ, ἣν περιεποιήσατο ἐν τῇ Μεσοποταμίᾳ, καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ, ἀπελθεῖν πρὸς Ἰσαὰκ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Χανάαν. ¹⁹ And Laban𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍 went𐤄𐤋𐤊 to shear𐤋𐤂𐤆𐤆 his sheep:𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤅 and Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 had stolen𐤅𐤕𐤂𐤍𐤁 the images𐤄𐤕𐤓𐤐𐤉𐤌 that were her father's.𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄 Λαβὰν δὲ ᾤχετο κεῖραι τὰ πρόβατα αὐτοῦ· ἔκλεψεν δὲ Ῥαχὴλ τὰ εἴδωλα πατρὸς αὐτῆς. ²⁰ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 stole away𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤍𐤁 unawares𐤋𐤁 to Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 the Syrian,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤌𐤉 in that𐤏𐤋 he told𐤄𐤂𐤉𐤃 him not𐤁𐤋𐤉 that he fled.𐤁𐤓𐤇 ἔκρυψεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ Λαβὰν τὸν Σύρον, τοῦ μὴ ἀναγγεῖλαι αὐτῷ ὅτι ἀποδιδράσκει· ²¹ So he fled𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤇 with all that he had; and he rose up,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌 and passed over𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 the river,𐤄𐤍𐤄𐤓 and set𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌 his face𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 toward the mount𐤄𐤓 Gilead.𐤄𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 καὶ ἀπέδρα αὐτὸς καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ, καὶ διέβη τὸν ποταμόν, καὶ ὥρμησεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος Γαλαάδ. ²² And it was told𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤃 Laban𐤋𐤋𐤁𐤍 on the third𐤄𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤉 day𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 that Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 was fled.𐤁𐤓𐤇 Ἀνηγγέλη δὲ Λαβὰν τῷ Σύρῳ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ὅτι ἀπέδρα Ἰακώβ. ²³ And he took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 his brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 with him, and pursued𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤐 after him𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤅 seven𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤕 days'𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 journey;𐤃𐤓𐤊 and they overtook𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤒 him in the mount𐤁𐤄𐤓 Gilead.𐤄𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 καὶ παραλαβὼν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ὁδὸν ἡμερῶν ἑπτά, καὶ κατέλαβεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ὄρει Γαλαάδ. ²⁴ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 to Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 the Syrian𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤌𐤉 in a dream𐤁𐤇𐤋𐤌 by night,𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Take heed𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤓 that thou speak𐤕𐤃𐤁𐤓 not to𐤏𐤌 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 either good𐤌𐤈𐤅𐤁 or𐤏𐤃 bad.𐤓𐤏 ἦλθεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Λαβὰν τὸν Σύρον καθ’ ὕπνον τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Φύλαξαι σεαυτὸν μή ποτε λαλήσῃς μετὰ Ἰακὼβ πονηρά. ²⁵ Then Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 overtook𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤂 Jacob.𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Now Jacob𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 had pitched𐤕𐤒𐤏 his tent𐤀𐤄𐤋𐤅 in the mount:𐤁𐤄𐤓 and Laban𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍 with his brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 pitched𐤕𐤒𐤏 in the mount𐤁𐤄𐤓 of Gilead.𐤄𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 καὶ κατέλαβεν Λαβὰν τὸν Ἰακώβ· Ἰακὼβ δὲ ἔπηξεν τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ὄρει· Λαβὰν δὲ ἔστησεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Γαλαάδ. ²⁶ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Jacob,𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 What hast thou done,𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 that thou hast stolen away𐤅𐤕𐤂𐤍𐤁 unawares𐤋𐤁𐤁𐤉 to me, and carried away𐤅𐤕𐤍𐤄𐤂 my daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 as captives𐤊𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤕 taken with the sword?𐤇𐤓𐤁 εἶπεν δὲ Λαβὰν τῷ Ἰακώβ Τί ἐποίησας; ἵνα τί κρυβῇ ἀπέδρας, καὶ ἐκλοποφόρησάς με, καὶ ἀπήγαγες τὰς θυγατέρας μου ὡς αἰχμαλωτίδας μαχαίρᾳ; ²⁷ Wherefore didst thou flee away𐤋𐤁𐤓𐤇 secretly,𐤍𐤇𐤁𐤀𐤕 and steal away𐤅𐤕𐤂𐤍𐤁 from me; and didst not tell𐤄𐤂𐤃𐤕 me, that I might have sent thee away𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤊 with mirth,𐤁𐤔𐤌𐤇𐤄 and with songs,𐤅𐤁𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 with tabret,𐤁𐤕𐤐 and with harp?𐤅𐤁𐤊𐤍𐤅𐤓 καὶ εἰ ἀνήγγειλάς μοι, ἐξαπέστειλα ἄν σε μετ’ εὐφροσύνης καὶ μετὰ μουσικῶν, τυμπάνων καὶ κιθάρας. ²⁸ And hast not suffered𐤍𐤈𐤔𐤕𐤍𐤉 me to kiss𐤋𐤍𐤔𐤒 my sons𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤉 and my daughters?𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 thou hast now done foolishly𐤄𐤎𐤊𐤋𐤕 in so doing.𐤏𐤔𐤅 οὐκ ἠξιώθην καταφιλῆσαι τὰ παιδία μου καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας μου· νῦν δὲ ἀφρόνως ἔπραξας. ²⁹ It is𐤉𐤔 in the power𐤋𐤀𐤋 of my hand𐤉𐤃𐤉 to do𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 you hurt:𐤓𐤏 but the God𐤅𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of your father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 spake𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto me yesternight,𐤀𐤌𐤔 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Take thou heed𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤓 that thou speak not𐤌𐤃𐤁𐤓 to Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 either good𐤌𐤈𐤅𐤁 or bad.𐤓𐤏 καὶ νῦν ἰσχύει ἡ χείρ μου κακοποιῆσαί σε· ὁ δὲ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός σου πρὸς μὲ λέγων Φύλαξαι σεαυτὸν μή ποτε λαλήσῃς μετὰ Ἰακὼβ πονηρά. ³⁰ And now, though thou wouldest needs𐤄𐤋𐤊 be gone,𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕 because thou sore𐤍𐤊𐤎𐤐 longedst𐤍𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤕𐤄 after thy father's𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 house,𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕 yet wherefore hast thou stolen𐤂𐤍𐤁𐤕 my gods?𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 νῦν οὖν πεπόρευσαι· ἐπιθυμίᾳ γὰρ ἐπεθύμησας εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός σου ἀπελθεῖν· καὶ ἵνα τί ἔκλεψας τοὺς θεούς μου; ³¹ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 answered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Laban,𐤋𐤋𐤁𐤍 Because I was afraid:𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤕𐤉 for I said,𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕𐤉 Peradventure𐤐𐤍 thou wouldest take by force𐤕𐤂𐤆𐤋 thy daughters𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤊 from me. ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἰακὼβ εἶπεν τῷ Λαβάν Εἶπα γάρ Μή ποτε ἀφέλῃς τὰς θυγατέρας σου ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐμά. ³² With whomsoever𐤀𐤔𐤓 thou findest𐤕𐤌𐤑𐤀 thy gods,𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤊 let him not live:𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤄 before𐤍𐤂𐤃 our brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤍𐤅 discern𐤄𐤊𐤓 thou what is thine with me, and take𐤅𐤒𐤇 it to thee. For Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 knew𐤉𐤃𐤏 not that Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 had stolen𐤂𐤍𐤁𐤕𐤌 them. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἰακώβ Πάρ’ ᾧ ἐὰν εὕρῃς τοὺς θεούς σου, οὐ ζήσεται ἐναντίον τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν· ἐπίγνωθι τί ἐστιν τῶν σῶν παρ’ ἐμοὶ καὶ λάβε. καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω παρ’ αὐτῷ οὐθέν· οὐκ ᾔδει δὲ Ἰακὼβ ὅτι Ῥαχὴλ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ ἔκλεψεν αὐτούς. ³³ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 went𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 into Jacob's𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 tent,𐤁𐤀𐤄𐤋 and into Leah's𐤋𐤀𐤄 tent,𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤄𐤋 and into the two𐤔𐤕𐤉 maidservants'𐤄𐤀𐤌𐤄𐤕 tents;𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤄𐤋 but he found𐤌𐤑𐤀 them not. Then went he out𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 of Leah's𐤋𐤀𐤄 tent,𐤌𐤀𐤄𐤋 and entered𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 into Rachel's𐤓𐤇𐤋 tent.𐤁𐤀𐤄𐤋 εἰσελθὼν δὲ Λαβὰν ἠρεύνησεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Λείας, καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν· καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Λείας, ἠρεύνησεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ἰακὼβ καὶ ἐν τῶ οἴκῳ τῶν δύο παιδισκῶν, καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν· εἰσῆλθεν δὲ καὶ εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ῥαχήλ. ³⁴ Now Rachel𐤅𐤓𐤇𐤋 had taken𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤄 the images,𐤄𐤕𐤓𐤐𐤉𐤌 and put𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤌 them in the camel's𐤄𐤂𐤌𐤋 furniture,𐤁𐤊𐤓 and sat𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤁 upon them. And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 searched𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤔𐤔 all the tent,𐤄𐤀𐤄𐤋 but found𐤌𐤑𐤀 them not. Ῥαχὴλ δὲ ἔλαβεν τὰ καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὰ σάγματα τῆς καμήλου καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν αὐτοῖς, ³⁵ And she said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 to her father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄 Let it not displease𐤉𐤇𐤓 𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 my lord𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 that I cannot𐤀𐤅𐤊𐤋 rise up𐤋𐤒𐤅𐤌 before thee;𐤌𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 for the custom𐤃𐤓𐤊 of women𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 is upon me. And he searched,𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤐𐤔 but found𐤌𐤑𐤀 not the images.𐤄𐤕𐤓𐤐𐤉𐤌 καὶ εἶπεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτῆς Μὴ βαρέως φέρε, κύριε· οὐ δύναμαι στῆναι ἐνώπιόν σου, τὰ τὰ κατ’ ἐθισμὸν τῶν γυναικίων μού ἐστιν. ἠρεύνησεν δὲ Λαβὰν ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ, καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν τὰ εἴδωλα. ³⁶ And Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 was wroth,𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤓 and chode𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤁 with Laban:𐤁𐤋𐤁𐤍 and Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 answered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Laban,𐤋𐤋𐤁𐤍 What is my trespass?𐤐𐤔𐤏𐤉 what is my sin,𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤕𐤉 that thou hast so hotly pursued𐤃𐤋𐤒𐤕 after me?𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 ὠργίσθη δὲ Ἰακὼβ καὶ ἐμαχέσατο τῷ Λαβάν· ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν τῶ Λαβάν Τί τὸ ἀδίκημά μου καὶ τί τὸ ἁμάρτημά μου, ὅτι κατεδίωξας ὀπίσω μου, ³⁷ Whereas𐤊𐤉 thou hast searched𐤌𐤔𐤔𐤕 all my stuff,𐤊𐤋𐤉 what hast thou found𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤕 of all thy household𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤊 stuff?𐤊𐤋𐤉 set𐤔𐤉𐤌 it here𐤊𐤄 before my brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉 and thy brethren,𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 that they may judge𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤉𐤇𐤅 betwixt𐤁𐤉𐤍 us both.𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤅 καὶ ὅτι ἠρεύνησας πάντα τὰ σκεύη τοῦ οἴκου μου ; τί εὗρες ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν σκευῶν τοῦ οἴκου σου ; θὲς ὧδε ἐναντίον τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου καὶ τῶν ἀδελφῶν μου, καὶ ἐλεγξάτωσαν ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν δύο ἡμῶν. ³⁸ This twenty𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 have I been with thee; thy ewes𐤓𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤊 and thy she goats𐤅𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤊 have not cast their young,𐤔𐤊𐤋𐤅 and the rams𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤋𐤉 of thy flock𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤊 have I not eaten.𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤕𐤉 ταῦτά μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ· τὰ πρόβατά σου καὶ αἱ αἶγές σου οὐκ ἠτεκνώθησαν· κριοὺς τῶν προβάτων σου οὐ κατέφαγον· ³⁹ That which was torn𐤈𐤓𐤐𐤄 of beasts I brought𐤄𐤁𐤀𐤕𐤉 not unto thee; I bare the loss𐤀𐤇𐤈𐤍𐤄 of it; of my hand𐤌𐤉𐤃𐤉 didst thou require𐤕𐤁𐤒𐤔𐤍𐤄 it, whether stolen𐤂𐤍𐤁𐤕𐤉 by day,𐤉𐤅𐤌 or stolen𐤅𐤂𐤍𐤁𐤕𐤉 by night.𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 θηριάλωτον οὐκ ἀνενήνοχά σοι· ἀπ’ ἐμαυτοῦ κλέμματα ἡμέρας καὶ κλέμματα ἡμέρας καὶ κλέμματα τῆς νυκτός· ⁴⁰ Thus I was; in the day𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 the drought𐤇𐤓𐤁 consumed𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤍𐤉 me, and the frost𐤅𐤒𐤓𐤇 by night;𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 and my sleep𐤔𐤍𐤕𐤉 departed𐤅𐤕𐤃𐤃 from mine eyes.𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 ἐγενόμην τῆς ἡμέρας συγκαιόμενος τῷ καύσωνι καὶ παγετῷ νυκτός, καὶ ἀφίστατο ὁ ὕπνος μου ἀπὸ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου. ⁴¹ Thus have I been twenty𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 in thy house;𐤁𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤊 I served thee𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉𐤊 fourteen𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 for thy two𐤁𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤊 and six𐤅𐤔𐤔 years𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 for thy cattle:𐤁𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤊 and thou hast changed𐤅𐤕𐤇𐤋𐤐 my wages𐤌𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉 ten𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤕 times.𐤌𐤍𐤉𐤌 ταῦτα μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου· ἐδούλευσά σοι δέκα καὶ τέσσερα ἔτη ἀντὶ τῶν δύο θυγατέρων σου καὶ ἕξ ἔτη ἐν τοῖς προβάτοις σου, καὶ παρελογίσω τὸν μισθόν μου δέκα ἀμνάσιν. ⁴² Except𐤋𐤅𐤋𐤉 the God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of my father,𐤀𐤁𐤉 the God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and the fear𐤅𐤐𐤇𐤃 of Isaac,𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤕𐤍𐤉 now empty.𐤓𐤉𐤒𐤌 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath seen𐤓𐤀𐤄 mine affliction𐤏𐤍𐤉𐤉 and the labour𐤉𐤂𐤉𐤏 of my hands,𐤊𐤐𐤉 and rebuked𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤇 thee yesternight.𐤀𐤌𐤔 εἰ μὴ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Ἀβραὰμ καὶ ὁ φόβος Ἰσαὰκ ἦν μοι, νῦν ἂν κενόν με ἐξαπέστειλας· τὴν ταπείνωσίν μου καὶ τὸν κόπον τῶν χειρῶν μου ἴδεν ὁ θεός, καὶ ἤλεγξέν σε χθές. ⁴³ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 answered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 These daughters𐤄𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 are my daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 and these children𐤅𐤄𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 are my children,𐤁𐤍𐤉 and these cattle𐤅𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 are my cattle,𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤉 and all that thou seest𐤓𐤀𐤄 is mine: and what can I do𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤄 this day𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 unto these my daughters,𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 or𐤀𐤅 unto their children𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤍 which they have born?𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤅 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Λαβὰν εἶπεν τῷ Αἱ θυγατέρες σου θυγατέρες μου, καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου υἱοί μου, καὶ τὰ κτήνη σου κτήνη μου, καὶ πάντα ὅσα σὺ ὁρᾷς ἐμά ἐστιν· καὶ ταῖς θυγατράσιν μου τί ποιήσω ταύταις σήμερον ἢ τοῖς τέκνοις αὐτῶν οἷς ἔτεκον ; ⁴⁴ Now therefore come thou, let us make𐤍𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤄 a covenant,𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 I and thou; and let it be for a witness𐤋𐤏𐤃 between me and thee. νῦν οὖν δεῦρο διαθώμεθα διαθήκην ἐγὼ καὶ σύ, καὶ ἔσται εἰς μαρτύριον ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ. εἶπεν δὲ οὐτῶ Ἰακώβ ἰδοὺ οὐθεὶς μεθ’ ἡμῶν ἐστιν· ἴδε ὁ θεὸς μάρτυς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ. ⁴⁵ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 a stone,𐤀𐤁𐤍 and set it up𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤉𐤌𐤄 for a pillar.𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 λαβὼν δὲ Ἰακὼβ λίθον ἔστησεν αὐτὸν στήλην. ⁴⁶ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his brethren,𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 Gather𐤋𐤒𐤈𐤅 stones;𐤀𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 and they took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇𐤅 stones,𐤀𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 and made𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤔𐤅 an heap:𐤂𐤋 and they did eat𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 there upon the heap.𐤄𐤂𐤋 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ Συλλέγετε λίθους. καὶ συνέλεξαν λίθους, καὶ ἐποίησαν βουνόν· κοὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον ἐκεῖ ἐπὶ τοῦ βουνοῦ. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Λαβόν Ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος μαρτυρεῖ ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ σήμερον· ⁴⁷ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 it Jegar–sahadutha:𐤉𐤂𐤓 but Jacob𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 called𐤒𐤓𐤀 it Galeed.𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Λαβάν βουνὸς μάρτυς, Ἰακὼβ δὲ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτόν βουνὸς μαρτυρεῖ. ⁴⁸ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 This heap𐤄𐤂𐤋 is a witness𐤏𐤃 between me and thee this day.𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 Therefore was the name𐤔𐤌𐤅 of it called𐤒𐤓𐤀 Galeed;𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 εἶπεν δὲ Λαβὰν τῷ Ἰακώβ Ἴδου ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος καὶ ἡ στήλη αὕτη ἢν ἔστησα ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ· μαρτυρεῖ ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος, καὶ μαρτυρεῖ ἡ στήλη αὕτη· διὰ τοῦτο ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ βουνὸς μαρτυρεῖ, ⁴⁹ And Mizpah;𐤅𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤐𐤄 for𐤀𐤔𐤓 he said,𐤀𐤌𐤓 The Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 watch𐤉𐤑𐤐 between me and thee, when we are absent𐤍𐤎𐤕𐤓 one𐤀𐤉𐤔 from another.𐤌𐤓𐤏𐤄𐤅 καί Ἡ δράσις, ἣν εἶπεν Ἐφίδοι ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ, ὅτι ἀποστησόμεθα ἕτερος ἀπὸ τοῦ ἑτέρου. ⁵⁰ If thou shalt afflict𐤕𐤏𐤍𐤄 my daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 or if thou shalt take𐤕𐤒𐤇 other wives𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 beside𐤏𐤋 my daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉 no man𐤀𐤉𐤔 is with us; see,𐤓𐤀𐤄 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 is witness𐤏𐤃 betwixt me and thee. εἰ ταπεινώσεις τὰς θυγατέρας μου, εἰ λήμψῃ γυναῖκας ἐπὶ ταῖς θυγατράσιν μου, ὅρα, οὐθεὶς μεθ’ ἡμῶν ἐστίν. ⁵¹ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Jacob,𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Behold this heap,𐤄𐤂𐤋 and behold this pillar,𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 which I have cast𐤉𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 betwixt me and thee; ⁵² This heap𐤄𐤂𐤋 be witness,𐤏𐤃 and this pillar𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 be witness,𐤅𐤏𐤃𐤄 that I will not pass over𐤀𐤏𐤁𐤓 this heap𐤄𐤂𐤋 to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over𐤕𐤏𐤁𐤓 this heap𐤄𐤂𐤋 and this pillar𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 unto me, for harm.𐤋𐤓𐤏𐤄 ἐάν τε γὰρ ἐγὼ μὴ διαβῶ πρὸς σέ, μηδὲ σὺ διαβῇς πρὸς μὲ τὸν βουνὸν τοῦ. ’τον καὶ τὴν στήλην ταύτην ἐπὶ κακίᾳ. ⁵³ The God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and the God𐤅𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of Nahor,𐤍𐤇𐤅𐤓 the God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of their father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤌 judge𐤉𐤔𐤐𐤈𐤅 betwixt us. And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 sware𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤏 by the fear𐤁𐤐𐤇𐤃 of his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Isaac.𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 ὁ θεὸς Ἀβραὰμ καὶ ὁ θεὸς Νασχὼρ κρινεῖ ἀνὰ μέσον ἡμῶν. ⁵⁴ Then Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 offered𐤅𐤉𐤆𐤁𐤇 sacrifice𐤆𐤁𐤇 upon the mount,𐤁𐤄𐤓 and called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 his brethren𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 to eat𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤋 bread:𐤋𐤇𐤌 and they did eat𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 bread,𐤋𐤇𐤌 and tarried all night𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤍𐤅 in the mount.𐤁𐤄𐤓 καὶ ὤμοσεν Ἰακὼβ κατὰ τοῦ Φόβου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ Ἰσαάκ. καὶ ἴθυσεν Ἰακὼβ θυσίαν ἐν τῷ ὄρει· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον, καὶ ἐκοιμήθησαν ἐν τῷ ὄρει. ⁵⁵ And early𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤌 in the morning𐤁𐤁𐤒𐤓 Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 rose up, and kissed𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤔𐤒 his sons𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 and his daughters,𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤅 and blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊 them: and Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 departed, and returned𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁 unto his place.𐤋𐤌𐤒𐤌𐤅 ἀναστὰς δὲ Λαβὰν τὸ πρωὶ κατεφίλησεν τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτούς· καὶ ἀποστραφεὶς Λαβὰν ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ.
