Chapter 44 ¹ And he commanded𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤅 the steward of his house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Fill𐤌𐤋𐤀 the men's𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 sacks𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕 with food,𐤀𐤊𐤋 as much as𐤀𐤔𐤓 they can𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤋𐤅𐤍 carry,𐤔𐤀𐤕 and put𐤅𐤔𐤉𐤌 every man's𐤀𐤉𐤔 money𐤊𐤎𐤐 in his sack's𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤅 mouth.𐤁𐤐𐤉 Καὶ ἐνετείλατο Ἰωσὴφ τῷ ὄντι ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ λέγων Πλήσατε τοὺς μαρσίππους τῶν ἀνθρώπων βρωμάτων ὅσα ἐὰν ἆραι, καὶ ἐμβάλατε ἑκάστου τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ τοῦ στόματος τοῦ σίππου αὐτοῦ· ² And put𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤌 my cup,𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤏𐤉 the silver𐤄𐤊𐤎𐤐 cup,𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤏 in the sack's𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕 mouth𐤁𐤐𐤉 of the youngest,𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 and his corn𐤔𐤁𐤓𐤅 money.𐤊𐤎𐤐 And he did𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤔 according to the word𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓 that Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 had spoken.𐤃𐤁𐤓 καὶ τὸ κόνδυ μου τὸ ἀργυροῦν ἐμβάλατε εἰς τὸν μάρσιππον τοῦ νεωτέρου, καὶ τὴν τιμὴν τοῦ σίτου αὐτοῦ. ἐγενήθη δὲ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα ἸωσὴΦ καθὼς εἶπεν. ³ As soon as the morning𐤄𐤁𐤒𐤓 was light,𐤀𐤅𐤓 the men𐤅𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 were sent away,𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤅 they and their asses.𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤄𐤌 τὸ πρωὶ διέφαυσεν καὶ οἱ ἂν θρωποι ἀπεστάλησαν, αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ ἄνοι αὐτῶν. ⁴ And when they were gone out𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 of the city,𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 and not yet far off,𐤄𐤓𐤇𐤉𐤒𐤅 Joseph𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 said𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his steward,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 Up,𐤒𐤅𐤌 follow𐤓𐤃𐤐 after𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 the men;𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 and when thou dost overtake𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤂𐤕𐤌 them, say𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕 unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤕𐤌 evil𐤓𐤏𐤄 for good?𐤈𐤅𐤁𐤄 ἐξελθόντων δὲ αὐτῶν τὴν πόλιν οὐκ ἀπέσχον μακράν, καὶ Ἴωσ’ εἶπεν τῶ ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ λέγων Ἀναστὰς ἐπιδίωξον ὀπίσω τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ καταλήμψῃ αὐτούς, καὶ ἐρεῖς αὐτοῖς Τί ὅτι ἀνταπεδώκατέ μοι πονηρὰ ἀντὶ καλῶν; ἳνα τί ἐκλέψατέ μου τὸ κόνδυ τὸ ἀργυροῦν ; ⁵ Is not this it in which my lord𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 drinketh,𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤄 and whereby indeed𐤍𐤇𐤔 he divineth?𐤉𐤍𐤇𐤔 ye have done evil𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤕𐤌 in so doing.𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕𐤌 οὐ τοῦτό ἐστιν ἐν ᾧ πίνει ὁ κύριός μου; αὐτὸς δὲ οἰωνισμῷ οἰωνίζεται ἐν αὐτῷ· πονηρὰ συντετέλεσθε ἃ πεποιήκατε. ⁶ And he overtook𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤂𐤌 them, and he spake𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto them these same𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄 words.𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 εὑρὼν δὲ αὐτοὺς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα. ⁷ And they said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 unto him, Wherefore saith𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 my lord𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 these words?𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 God forbid𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 that thy servants𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 should do𐤌𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 according to this thing:𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓 οἱ δὲ εἶπον αὐτῷ ἵνα τί λαλεῖ ὁ κύριος κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ; μὴ γένοιτο τοῖς παισίν σου ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο. ⁸ Behold, the money,𐤊𐤎𐤐 which we found𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤅 in our sacks'𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤅 mouths,𐤁𐤐𐤉 we brought again𐤄𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤍𐤅 unto thee out of the land𐤌𐤀𐤓𐤑 of Canaan:𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 how then should we steal𐤍𐤂𐤍𐤁 out of thy lord's𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉𐤊 house𐤌𐤁𐤉𐤕 silver𐤊𐤎𐤐 or gold?𐤆𐤄𐤁 εἱ τὸ μὲν ἀπγύριον ὃ εὕραμεν ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ἡμῶν ἀπεατέψαμεν πρὸς σὲ ἐκ γῆς Χανάαν, πῶς ἀν’ κλέψαιμεν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ κυρίου σου ἀργύριον ἢ χρυσίον ; ⁹ With whomsoever of thy servants𐤌𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 it be found,𐤉𐤌𐤑𐤀 both let him die,𐤅𐤌𐤕 and we also will be my lord's𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 bondmen.𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 παρ' ᾧ ἂν εὑρεθῇ τὸ κόνδυ τῶν παίδων σου, ἀποθνησκέτω· καὶ ἡμεῖς δὲ ἐσόμεθα παῖδες τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν. ¹⁰ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Now also let it be according unto your words:𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤊𐤌 he with whom it is found𐤊𐤍 shall be my servant;𐤏𐤁𐤃 and ye shall be blameless.𐤍𐤒𐤉𐤌 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Καὶ νῦν ὡς λέγετε, οὕτως ὦσται· ὁ ἄνθρωπος παρ’ ᾧ ἂν εὑρεθῇ τὸ κόνδηυ, αὐτὸς ἔσται μου παῖς, ὑμεῖς δὲ ἔσεσθε καθαροί. ¹¹ Then they speedily𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤄𐤓𐤅 took down𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤓𐤃𐤅 every man𐤀𐤉𐤔 his sack𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤅 to the ground,𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 and opened𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤕𐤇𐤅 every man𐤀𐤉𐤔 his sack.𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤅 καὶ ἒσπευσαν καὶ καθεῖλαν ἕκαστος τὸν μάρσιππον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἤνοιξεν ἕκαστος τὸν μάρσιππον αὐτοῦ. ¹² And he searched,𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤐𐤔 and began𐤄𐤇𐤋 at the eldest,𐤁𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 and left𐤊𐤋𐤄 at the youngest:𐤅𐤁𐤒𐤈𐤍 and the cup𐤄𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤏 was found𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤑𐤀 in Benjamin's𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤍 sack.𐤁𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕 ἠρεύνα δὲ ἀπὸ τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου ἀρξάμενος ἕως ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν νεώτερον, καὶ εὗρεν τὸ κόνδυ ἐν τῷ μαρσίππῳ τῷ Βενιαμείν. ¹³ Then they rent𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤏𐤅 their clothes,𐤔𐤌𐤋𐤕𐤌 and laded𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤌𐤎 every man𐤀𐤉𐤔 his ass,𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤅 and returned𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 to the city.𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤄 καὶ διέρρηξαν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐπέθηκαν ἕκαστος τὸν μάρσιππον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν ὄνον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν. ¹⁴ And Judah𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 and his brethren𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 to Joseph's𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 house;𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 for he was yet there: and they fell𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤋𐤅 before him𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 on the ground.𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 εἰσῆλθεν δὲ Ἰούδας καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἸωσήΦ, ἒτι αὐτοῦ ὄντος ἐκεῖ· καὶ ἐπεσον ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν. ¹⁵ And Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, What deed𐤄𐤌𐤏𐤔𐤄 is this that ye have done?𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕𐤌 wot ye𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤌 not that such a man𐤀𐤉𐤔 as I can certainly𐤍𐤇𐤔 divine?𐤉𐤍𐤇𐤔 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς ἸωσήΦ Tί τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο ἐποιήσατε; οὐκ οὐκ ὅτι οἰωνισμῷ οἰωνιεῖται ἄνθρωπος οἷος ἐγώ ; ¹⁶ And Judah𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 What shall we say𐤍𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto my lord?𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 what shall we speak?𐤍𐤃𐤁𐤓 or how shall we clear ourselves?𐤍𐤑𐤈𐤃𐤒 God𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath found out𐤌𐤑𐤀 the iniquity𐤏𐤅𐤍 of thy servants:𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 behold, we are my lord's𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 both we, and he also𐤂𐤌 with whom𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤅 the cup𐤄𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤏 is found.𐤍𐤌𐤑𐤀 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰούδας Τί ἀντεροῦμεν τῷ κυρίῳ ἢ τί λαλήσωμεν ἢ τί δικαιωθῶμεν ; ὁ δὲ θεὸς εὗρεν τὴν ἀδικίαν τῶν παίδων σου· ἰδού ἐσμεν οἰκέται τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν, καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ παρ’ ᾦ εὑρέθη τὸ κόνδυ. ¹⁷ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 God forbid𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 that I should do𐤌𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 so:𐤆𐤀𐤕 but the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 in whose hand𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤅 the cup𐤄𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤏 is found,𐤍𐤌𐤑𐤀 he shall be my servant;𐤏𐤁𐤃 and as for you, get you up𐤏𐤋𐤅 in peace𐤋𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 unto your father.𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 𐤐 εἶπεν δὲ ἸωσήΦ Μἠ μοι γένοιτο ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο· ὁ ἄνθρωπος παρ’ ᾧ εὑρέθη τὸ κόνδυ, αὐτὸς ἔσται μου παῖς· ὑμεῖς δὲ ἀνάβητε μετὰ σωτηρίας πρὸς τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν. ¹⁸ Then Judah𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 came near𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔 unto him, and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Oh𐤁𐤉 my lord,𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 let thy servant,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 I pray thee, speak𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 a word𐤃𐤁𐤓 in my lord's𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 ears,𐤁𐤀𐤆𐤍𐤉 and let not thine anger𐤀𐤐𐤊 burn𐤉𐤇𐤓 against thy servant:𐤁𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 for thou art even as Pharaoh.𐤊𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 Ἐγγίσας δὲ αὐτῷ Ἰούδας εἶπεν Δέομαι, κύριε· λαλησάτω ὁ παῖς σου ῥῆμα ἐναντίον σου, καὶ μὴ θυμωθῇς τῷ παιδί σου, ὅτι σὺ εἰ μετὰ Φαραώ. κύριε. ¹⁹ My lord𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 asked𐤔𐤀𐤋 his servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤅 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Have𐤄𐤉𐤔 ye a father,𐤀𐤁 or a brother?𐤀𐤇 σὺ ἠρώτησας τοὺς παῖδάς σου λέγων Εἰ ὦτε πατέρα ἢ ἀδελφόν ; ²⁰ And we said𐤅𐤍𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto my lord,𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 We have𐤉𐤔 a father,𐤀𐤁 an old man,𐤆𐤒𐤍 and a child𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤃 of his old age,𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤌 a little one;𐤒𐤈𐤍 and his brother𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 is dead,𐤌𐤕 and he alone is left𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤕𐤓 of his mother,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤅 and his father𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 loveth𐤀𐤄𐤁𐤅 him. καὶ εἴπαμεν τῷ κυρίῳ Ἔστιν ἡμῖν πατὴρ πρεσβύτερος, καὶ παιδίον νεώτερον γήρως αὐτῷ, καὶ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἀπέθανεν, αὐτὸς δὲ μόνος ὑπελείφθη τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ, ὁ δὲ πατὴρ αὐτὸν ἠγάπησεν. ²¹ And thou saidst𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto thy servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 Bring him down𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤃𐤄𐤅 unto me, that I may set𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤉𐤌𐤄 mine eyes𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 upon him. δὲ τοῖς παισίν σου ὅτι Καταγάγετε αὐτὸν πρὸς μέ, καὶ ἐπιμελοῦμαι αὐτοῦ. ²² And we said𐤅𐤍𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto my lord,𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 The lad𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 cannot𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤋 leave𐤋𐤏𐤆𐤁 his father:𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 for if he should leave𐤅𐤏𐤆𐤁 his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 his father would die.𐤅𐤌𐤕 καὶ εἴπαμεν τῷ κυρίῳ Οὐ δυνήσεται τὸ παιδίον καταλιπεῖν τὸν πατέρα· ἐὰν δὲ καταλείπῃ τὸν πατέρα, ἀποθανεῖται. ²³ And thou saidst𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto thy servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 Except𐤋𐤀 your youngest𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 come down𐤉𐤓𐤃 with you, ye shall see𐤕𐤎𐤐𐤅𐤍 𐤋𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤕 my face𐤐𐤍𐤉 no more. σὺ δὲ εἶπας τοῖς παισίν σου Ἐὰν μὴ καταβῇ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν ὁ νεώτερος μεθ’ ὑμῶν, οὐ προσθήσεσθε ἔτι ἰδεῖν τὸ πρόσωπόν μου. ²⁴ And it came to pass when we came up𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤍𐤅 unto thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 my father,𐤀𐤁𐤉 we told𐤅𐤍𐤂𐤃 him the words𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 of my lord.𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἀνέβημεν πρὸς τὸν παῖδά σου πατέρα δὲ ἡμῶν, ἀπηγγείλαμεν αὐτῷ τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ κυρίου. ²⁵ And our father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Go again,𐤔𐤁𐤅 and buy𐤔𐤁𐤓𐤅 us a little𐤌𐤏𐤈 food.𐤀𐤊𐤋 εἶπεν δὲ ἡμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν βαδίσατε πάλιν, ἀγοράσατε ἡμῖν μικρὰβρώματα. ²⁶ And we said,𐤅𐤍𐤀𐤌𐤓 We cannot𐤍𐤅𐤊𐤋 go down:𐤋𐤓𐤃𐤕 if our youngest𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤍𐤅 be𐤉𐤔 with us, then will we go down:𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤍𐤅 for we may𐤍𐤅𐤊𐤋 not see𐤋𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤕 the man's𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 face,𐤐𐤍𐤉 except𐤀𐤉𐤍𐤍𐤅 our youngest𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 brother𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤍𐤅 be with us. ἡμεῖς δὲ εἴπαμεν Οὐ δυνησόμεθα καταβῆναι· ἀλλ’ εἰ μὲν ὁ ἀδελφὸς ἡμῶν ὁ νεώτερος καταβαίνει μεθ’ ἡμῶν, καταβησόμεθα· οὐ γὰρ δυνησόμεθα ἰδεῖν τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ νεωτέρου μὴ ὄντος μεθ’ ἡμῶν. ²⁷ And thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto us, Ye know𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤌 that my wife𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤉 bare𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 me two𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 sons: εἶπεν δὲ ὁ παῖς σου ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν πρὸς ἡμᾶς Ὑμεῖς γινώσκετε ὅτι δύο ἔτεκέν μοι ἡ γυνή· ²⁸ And the one𐤄𐤀𐤇𐤃 went out𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 from me, and I said,𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 Surely𐤈𐤓𐤐 he is torn in pieces;𐤈𐤓𐤐 and I saw him𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕𐤉𐤅 not since:𐤄𐤍𐤄 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ εἷς ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ εἴπατε Θηριόβρωτος γέγονεν, καὶ οὐκ ἴδον αὐτὸν ἔτι. ²⁹ And if ye take𐤅𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕𐤌 this also from𐤌𐤏𐤌 me,𐤐𐤍𐤉 and mischief𐤀𐤎𐤅𐤍 befall him,𐤅𐤒𐤓𐤄𐤅 ye shall bring down𐤅𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤃𐤕𐤌 my gray hairs𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤕𐤉 with sorrow𐤁𐤓𐤏𐤄 to the grave.𐤔𐤀𐤋𐤄 ἐὰν οὖν λάβητε καὶ τοῦτον ἐκ προσώπου μου καὶ συμβῇ αὐτῷ μαλακία ἐν τῆ ὁδῷ, καὶ κατάξετέ μου τὸ γῆρας μετὰ λύπης εἰς ᾅδου. ³⁰ Now therefore when I come𐤊𐤁𐤀𐤉 to thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 my father,𐤀𐤁𐤉 and the lad𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 be not with us; seeing that his life𐤅𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅 is bound up𐤒𐤔𐤅𐤓𐤄 in the lad's life;𐤁𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅 νῦν οὖν ἐὰν εἰσπορεύομαι πρὸς τὸν παῖδά σου πατέρα δὲ ἡμῶν, καὶ τὸ παιδάριον μὴ ᾖ μεθ’ ἡμῶν, ἢ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἐκκρέμαται ἐκ τῆς τούτου ψυχῆς· ³¹ It shall come to pass, when he seeth𐤊𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤕𐤅 that the lad𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 is not with us, that he will die:𐤅𐤌𐤕 and thy servants𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤊 shall bring down𐤅𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤉𐤃𐤅 the gray hairs𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤕 of thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 our father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 with sorrow𐤁𐤉𐤂𐤅𐤍 to the grave.𐤔𐤀𐤋𐤄 καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῷ ἰδεῖν αὐτὸν μὴ ὂν τὸ παιδάριον μεθ’ ἡμῶν, τελευτήσει, καὶ κατάξουσιν οἱ παῖδές σου τὸ γῆρας τοῦ παιδός σου πατρὸς δὲ ἡμῶν μετ’ ὀδύνης εἰς ᾅδου. ³² For thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 became surety𐤏𐤓𐤁 for the lad𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 unto𐤌𐤏𐤌 my father,𐤀𐤁𐤉 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 If I bring𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤍𐤅 him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame𐤅𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤕𐤉 to my father𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉 for ever.𐤄𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 ὁ γὰρ παῖς σου ἐκδέδεκται τὸ παιδίον παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς λέγων Ἐὰν μὴ ἀγάγω αὐτὸν πρὸς σὲ καὶ στήσω αὐτὸν ἐναντίον σου, ἡμαρτηκὼς ἔσομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας. ³³ Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 abide𐤉𐤔𐤁 instead of the lad𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 a bondman𐤏𐤁𐤃 to my lord;𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 and let the lad𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 go up𐤉𐤏𐤋 with his brethren.𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 νῦν οὖν παραμενῶ σοι παῖς ἀντὶ τοῦ παιδίου, οἰκέτης τοῦ κυρίου· τὸ δὲ παιδίον ἀναβήτω μετὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν. ³⁴ For how𐤀𐤉𐤊 shall I go up𐤀𐤏𐤋𐤄 to my father,𐤀𐤁𐤉 and the lad𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 be not with me? lest peradventure I see𐤀𐤓𐤀𐤄 the evil𐤁𐤓𐤏 that shall come on𐤉𐤌𐤑𐤀 my father.𐤀𐤁𐤉 πῶν γὰρ ἀναβήσομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα, τοῦ παιδίου μὴ ὄντος μεθ’ ἡμῶν ; ἵνα μὴ ἴδω τὰ κακὰ ἃ εὑρήσει τὸν πατέρα μου.
