Chapter 8 ¹ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 remembered𐤅𐤉𐤆𐤊𐤓 Noah,𐤍𐤇 and every living thing,𐤄𐤇𐤉𐤄 and all the cattle𐤄𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 that was with him in the ark:𐤁𐤕𐤁𐤄 and God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 made𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 a wind𐤓𐤅𐤇 to pass over𐤏𐤋 the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 asswaged;𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤅 Καὶ ἐμνήσθη ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Νῶε, καὶ πάντων τῶν θηρίων καὶ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ πάντων τῶν πετεινῶν καὶ πάντων τῶν ἑρπετῶν ὅσα ἦν μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ κιβωτῷ· καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ὁ θεὸς πνεῦμα ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἐκόπασεν τὸ ὕδωρ. ² The fountains𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤕 also of the deep𐤕𐤄𐤅𐤌 and the windows𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤕 of heaven𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 were stopped,𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤊𐤓𐤅 and the rain𐤄𐤂𐤔𐤌 from heaven𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 was restrained;𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤋𐤀 καὶ ἀπεκαλύφθησαν αἱ πηγαὶ τῆς όβύσσου καὶ οἱ καταράκται τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ συνεσχέθη ὁ ὑετὸς ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ³ And the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 returned𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 from off the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 continually:𐤄𐤋𐤅𐤊 𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤁 and after the end𐤌𐤒𐤑𐤄 of the hundred𐤅𐤌𐤀𐤕 and fifty𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤌 days𐤉𐤅𐤌 the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 were abated.𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤎𐤓𐤅 καὶ ἐνεδίδου τὸ ὕδωρ πορευόμενον ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς· ἐνεδίδου τὸ ὕδωρ καὶ ἠλαττονοῦτο μετὰ πεντήκοντα καὶ ἑκατὸν ἡμέρας. ⁴ And the ark𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 rested𐤅𐤕𐤍𐤇 in the seventh𐤄𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤏𐤉 month,𐤁𐤇𐤃𐤔 on the seventeenth𐤁𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤄 𐤏𐤔𐤓 day𐤉𐤅𐤌 of the month,𐤋𐤇𐤃𐤔 upon the mountains𐤄𐤓𐤉 of Ararat.𐤀𐤓𐤓𐤈 καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἡ κιβωτὸς ἐν μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ, ἑβδόμῃ καὶ εἰκάδι τοῦ μηνός, ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη τὰ Áραρἀτ. ⁵ And the waters𐤅𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 decreased𐤅𐤇𐤎𐤅𐤓 continually𐤄𐤋𐤅𐤊 until𐤏𐤃 the tenth𐤄𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤓𐤉 month:𐤄𐤇𐤃𐤔 in the tenth𐤁𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤓𐤉 month, on the first𐤁𐤀𐤇𐤃 day of the month,𐤋𐤇𐤃𐤔 were the tops𐤓𐤀𐤔𐤉 of the mountains𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤌 seen.𐤍𐤓𐤀𐤅 τὸ δὲ ὕδωρ πορευόμενον ἠλαττονοῦτο ἕως τοῦ δεκάτου μηνός· ἐν δὲ τῷ ἑνδεκάτῳ μηνί, τῇ πρώτῃ τοῦ μηνός, ὤφθησαν αἱ κεφαλαὶ τῶν ὀρέων. ⁶ And it came to pass at the end𐤌𐤒𐤑 of forty𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤌 days,𐤉𐤅𐤌 that Noah𐤍𐤇 opened𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤕𐤇 the window𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤍 of the ark𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 which he had made:𐤏𐤔𐤄 Καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τεσσεπἀκοωτα ἡμέρας ἠνέῳξεν Νῶε τὴν θυρίδα τῆς κιβωτοῦ ἢν ἐποίησεν, ⁷ And he sent forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 a raven,𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤁 which went forth𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 to𐤉𐤑𐤅𐤀 and fro,𐤅𐤔𐤅𐤁 until the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 were dried up𐤉𐤁𐤔𐤕 from off the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν κόρακα τοῦ ἰδεῖν εἰ κεκόπακεν τὸ ὕδωρ· καὶ ἐξελθὼν οὐχ ὑπέστρεψεν ἕως τοῦ ξηρανθῆναι τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς. ⁸ Also he sent forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 a dove𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 from him, to see𐤋𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤕 if the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 were abated𐤄𐤒𐤋𐤅 from off the face𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the ground;𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὴν περιστερὰν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἰδεῖν εἰ κεκόπακεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς. ⁹ But the dove𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 found𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤄 no rest𐤌𐤍𐤅𐤇 for the sole𐤋𐤊𐤐 of her foot,𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤄 and she returned𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤁 unto him into the ark,𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 for the waters𐤌𐤉𐤌 were on the face𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the whole earth:𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 then he put forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 his hand,𐤉𐤃𐤅 and took her,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇𐤄 and pulled her in𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 unto him into the ark.𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 καὶ οὐχ εὑροῦσα ἡ περιστερὰ ἀνάπαυσιν τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῆς ἀνέστρεψεν πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν, ὅτι ὕδωρ ἦν ἐπὶ παντὶ προσώπῳ πάσης τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὴν πρὸς ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν. ¹⁰ And he stayed𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤋 yet other𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤌 seven𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤕 days;𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 and again𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤐 he sent forth𐤔𐤋𐤇 the dove𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 out of the ark;𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 καὶ ἐπισχὼν ἔτι ἡμέρας ἑπτὰ ἑτέρας πάλιν ἐξαπέστειλεν τὴν περιστερὰν ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ. ¹¹ And the dove𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 came in𐤅𐤕𐤁𐤀 to him in the evening;𐤋𐤏𐤕 𐤏𐤓𐤁 and, lo, in her mouth𐤁𐤐𐤉𐤄 was an olive𐤆𐤉𐤕 leaf𐤏𐤋𐤄 pluckt off:𐤈𐤓𐤐 so Noah𐤍𐤇 knew𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤏 that the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 were abated𐤒𐤋𐤅 from off the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡ πεπιστερὰ τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέραν, καὶ εἶχεν φύλλον ἐλαίας κάρΦος ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῆς· καὶ ἔγνω Νῶε ὅτι κεκόπακεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς. ¹² And he stayed𐤅𐤉𐤉𐤇𐤋 yet other𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤌 seven𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤕 days;𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 and sent forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 the dove;𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 which returned𐤔𐤅𐤁 not again𐤉𐤎𐤐𐤄 unto him any more.𐤏𐤅𐤃 καὶ ἐπισχὼν ἔτι ἡμέρας ἑπτὰ ἑτέρας πάλιν ἐξαπέστειλεν τὴν περιστεράν, ’ρᾶν, καὶ οὐ προσέθετο τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς αὐτὸν ἔτι. ¹³ And it came to pass in the six𐤅𐤔𐤔 hundredth𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 and first year,𐤔𐤍𐤄 in the first𐤁𐤓𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤍 month, the first𐤁𐤀𐤇𐤕 day of the month,𐤋𐤇𐤃𐤔 the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 were dried up𐤇𐤓𐤁𐤅 from off the earth:𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and Noah𐤍𐤇 removed𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤓 the covering𐤌𐤊𐤎𐤄 of the ark,𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 and looked,𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 and, behold, the face𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the ground𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 was dry.𐤇𐤓𐤁𐤅 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῶ ἑνὶ καὶ ἑξακοσιοστῷ ἔτει ἐν τῆ ζωῇ τοῦ Νῶε, τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ πρώτου, μιᾷ τοῦ μηνός, ἐξέλειπεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἀπεκάλυψεν Νώε τὴν στέγην τῆς κιβωτοῦ, καὶ ἴδεν ὅτι ἐξέλειπεν τὸ ὕδωρ ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς. ¹⁴ And in the second𐤄𐤔𐤍𐤉 month,𐤅𐤁𐤇𐤃𐤔 on the seven𐤁𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤄 and twentieth𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 day𐤉𐤅𐤌 of the month,𐤋𐤇𐤃𐤔 was the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤎 dried.𐤉𐤁𐤔𐤄 ἐν δὲ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ, ἑβδόμῃ καὶ εἰκάδι τοῦ ἐξηράνθη ἡ γῆ. ¹⁵ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 spake𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto Noah,𐤍𐤇 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ Νῶε λέγων ¹⁶ Go forth𐤑𐤀 of the ark,𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 thou, and thy wife,𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 and thy sons,𐤅𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤊 and thy sons'𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤊 wives𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤉 with thee. Ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ, σὺ καὶ ἡ γυνή σου καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τῶν υἱῶν σου σοῦ, ¹⁷ Bring forth𐤄𐤉𐤑𐤀 with thee every living thing𐤄𐤇𐤉𐤄 that is with thee, of all flesh,𐤁𐤔𐤓 both of fowl,𐤁𐤏𐤅𐤐 and of cattle,𐤅𐤁𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 and of every creeping thing𐤄𐤓𐤌𐤔 that creepeth𐤄𐤓𐤌𐤔 upon the earth;𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 that they may breed abundantly𐤅𐤔𐤓𐤑𐤅 in the earth,𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 and be fruitful,𐤅𐤐𐤓𐤅 and multiply𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤅 upon the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία ὅσα ἐστὶν μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ πᾶσα σὰρξ πετεινῶν ἕως κτηνῶν, καὶ πᾶν ἑρπετὸν κινούμενον ἐπὶ τῆς μετὰ σοῦ· καὶ αὐξάνεσθε καὶ πληθύνεσθε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ¹⁸ And Noah𐤍𐤇 went forth,𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 and his sons,𐤅𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 and his wife,𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 and his sons'𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 wives𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤉 with him: καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Νῶε καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ κα αἱ γυναῖκες τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ· ¹⁹ Every beast,𐤄𐤇𐤉𐤄 every creeping thing,𐤄𐤓𐤌𐤔 and every fowl,𐤄𐤏𐤅𐤐 and whatsoever𐤊𐤋 creepeth𐤓𐤅𐤌𐤔 upon the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 after their kinds,𐤋𐤌𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤄𐤌 went forth𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 out of the ark.𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία καὶ πάντα τὰ κτήνη καὶ πετεινὸν καὶ πᾶν ἑρπετὸν κινούμενον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένος αὐτῶν ἐξήλθοσαν ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ. ²⁰ And Noah𐤍𐤇 builded𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤍 an altar𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 unto the Lord;𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 of every clean𐤄𐤈𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤄 beast,𐤄𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 and of every clean𐤄𐤈𐤄𐤓 fowl,𐤄𐤏𐤅𐤐 and offered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤋 burnt offerings𐤏𐤋𐤕 on the altar.𐤁𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 Καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν Νῶε θυσιαστήριον τῷ θεῷ, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ πόντων τῶν κτηνῶν τῶν καθαρῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν πετεινῶν τῶν καθαρῶν, καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν ὁλοκάρπωσιν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον. ²¹ And the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 smelled𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤇 a sweet𐤄𐤍𐤉𐤇𐤇 savour;𐤓𐤉𐤇 and the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 in𐤀𐤋 his heart,𐤋𐤁𐤅 I will not again𐤀𐤎𐤐 curse𐤋𐤒𐤋𐤋 the ground𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 any more for man's𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 sake;𐤁𐤏𐤁𐤅𐤓 for the imagination𐤉𐤑𐤓 of man's𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 heart𐤋𐤁 is evil𐤓𐤏 from his youth;𐤌𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤅 neither will I again𐤀𐤎𐤐 smite𐤋𐤄𐤊𐤅𐤕 any more every thing living,𐤇𐤉 as I have done.𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕𐤉 καὶ ὠσΦρἀνθη κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὀσμἠν εὐωδίας, καὶ Κύριος ὁ θεὸς διανοηθείς Οὐ προσθήσω ἔτι τοῦ καταράσασθαι τὴν γῆν διὰ τὰ ἔργα τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὅτι ἔγκειται ἡ διάνοια τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐπιμελῶς ἐπὶ τὰ πονηρὰ ἐκ νεότητος· οὐ προσθήσω οὖν ἔτι πατάξαι πᾶσαν σάρκα ζῶσαν καθὼς ἐποίησα. ²² While the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 remaineth,𐤉𐤌𐤉 seedtime𐤆𐤓𐤏 and harvest,𐤅𐤒𐤑𐤉𐤓 and cold𐤅𐤒𐤓 and heat,𐤅𐤇𐤌 and summer𐤅𐤒𐤉𐤑 and winter,𐤅𐤇𐤓𐤐 and day𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤌 and night𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 shall not cease.𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤕𐤅 πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς γῆς σπέρμα θερισμός, ψῦχος καὶ καῦμα, θέρος καὶ ἔαρ ἡμέραν καὶ νύκτα οὐ καταIX
