Chapter 9 ¹ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊 Noah𐤍𐤇 and his sons,𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, Be fruitful,𐤐𐤓𐤅 and multiply,𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤅 and replenish𐤅𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤅 the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 IXκαὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Αὐξάνεσθε καὶ πληθύνεσθε, καὶ πληρώσατε τὴν γῆν καὶ κατακυριεύσατε αὐτῆς. ² And the fear of you𐤅𐤌𐤅𐤓𐤀𐤊𐤌 and the dread of you𐤅𐤇𐤕𐤊𐤌 shall be upon every beast𐤇𐤉𐤕 of the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and upon every fowl𐤏𐤅𐤐 of the air,𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 upon all that moveth𐤕𐤓𐤌𐤔 upon the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 and upon all the fishes𐤃𐤂𐤉 of the sea;𐤄𐤉𐤌 into your hand𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤊𐤌 are they delivered.𐤍𐤕𐤍𐤅 καὶ ὁ τρόμος ὑμῶν καὶ ὁ φόβος ἔσται ἐπὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ὄρνεα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ κινούμενα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἰχθύας τῆς θαλάσσης· ὑπὸ Χεῖρας ὑμῖν δέδωκα. ³ Every moving thing𐤓𐤌𐤔 that liveth𐤇𐤉 shall be meat𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤄 for you; even as the green𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤒 herb𐤏𐤔𐤁 have I given𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 you all things. καὶ πᾶν ἑρπετὸν ὅ ἐστιν ζῶν ὑμῖν ἔσται εἰς βρῶσιν· ὡς λάχανα χόρτου ἔδωκα ὐμῖν τὰ πάντα. ⁴ But𐤀𐤊 flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 with the life𐤁𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅 thereof, which is the blood𐤃𐤌𐤅 thereof, shall ye not eat.𐤕𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 πλὴν κρέας ἐν αἵματι ψυχῆς οὐ φάγεσθε· ⁵ And surely𐤅𐤀𐤊 your blood𐤃𐤌𐤊𐤌 of your lives𐤋𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤕𐤉𐤊𐤌 will I require;𐤀𐤃𐤓𐤔 at the hand𐤌𐤉𐤃 of every beast𐤇𐤉𐤄 will I require it,𐤀𐤃𐤓𐤔𐤍𐤅 and at the hand𐤅𐤌𐤉𐤃 of man;𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 at the hand𐤌𐤉𐤃 of every man's𐤀𐤉𐤔 brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 will I require𐤀𐤃𐤓𐤔 the life𐤍𐤐𐤔 of man.𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 καὶ γὰρ τὸ ὑμέτερον αἷμα τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ἐκζητήσω· ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τῶν θηρίων ἐκζητήσω αὐτό, καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς ἀδελφοῦ ἐκζητήσω τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου. ⁶ Whoso sheddeth𐤔𐤐𐤊 man's𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 blood,𐤃𐤌 by man𐤁𐤀𐤃𐤌 shall his blood𐤃𐤌𐤅 be shed:𐤉𐤔𐤐𐤊 for in the image𐤁𐤑𐤋𐤌 of God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 made𐤏𐤔𐤄 he man.𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌 ὁ ἐκχέων αἷμα ἀνθρώπου ἀντὶ τοῦ αἴματος αὐτοῦ ἐκχυθήσεται, ὅτι ἐν εἰκόνι θεοῦ ἐποίησα τὸν ἄνθρωπον. ⁷ And you, be ye fruitful,𐤐𐤓𐤅 and multiply;𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤅 bring forth abundantly𐤔𐤓𐤑𐤅 in the earth,𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 and multiply𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤅 therein. ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐξάνεσθε καὶ πληθύνεσθε, καὶ πληρώσατε γῆν καὶ πληθύνεσθε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ⁸ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 spake𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Noah,𐤍𐤇 and to his sons𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 with him, saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ λέγων ⁹ And I, behold, I establish𐤌𐤒𐤉𐤌 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 with you, and with your seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊𐤌 after you;𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊𐤌 Ἐγὼ ἰδοὺ ἀνίστημι τὴν ὑμῖν καὶ τῷ σπέρματι ὑμῶν μέσ’ ὑμᾶς, ¹⁰ And with every living𐤄𐤇𐤉𐤄 creature𐤍𐤐𐤔 that is with you, of the fowl,𐤁𐤏𐤅𐤐 of the cattle,𐤁𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 and of every beast𐤇𐤉𐤕 of the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 with you; from all that go out𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤉 of the ark,𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 to every beast𐤇𐤉𐤕 of the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ πάσῃ ψυχῇ ζώσῃ μεθ’ ὑμῶν, ἀπὸ ὀρνέων καὶ ἀπὸ κτηνῶν, καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς ὅσα μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐξελθόντων ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ. ¹¹ And I will establish𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤌𐤕𐤉 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 with you; neither shall all flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 be cut off𐤉𐤊𐤓𐤕 any more by the waters𐤌𐤌𐤉 of a flood;𐤄𐤌𐤁𐤅𐤋 neither shall there any more be a flood𐤌𐤁𐤅𐤋 to destroy𐤋𐤔𐤇𐤕 the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ στήσω τὴν διαθήκην μου πρὸς ὑμᾶς, καὶ οὐκ ἀποθανεῖται πᾶσα σὰρξ ἔτι ἀπὸ τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ κατακλυσμοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἔτι κατακλυσμὸς ὕδατος τοῦ καταφθεῖραι πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν. ¹² And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 This is the token𐤀𐤅𐤕 of the covenant𐤄𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 which I𐤀𐤍𐤉 make𐤍𐤕𐤍 between me and you and every living𐤇𐤉𐤄 creature𐤍𐤐𐤔 that is with you, for perpetual𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 generations:𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤕 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Νῶε τοῦτο τὸ σημεῖον τῆς διαθήκης ὄ ἐγὼ δίδωμι ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης ψυχῆς ζώσης ἥ ἐστιν μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς γενεὰς αἰωνίους· ¹³ I do set𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 my bow𐤒𐤔𐤕𐤉 in the cloud,𐤁𐤏𐤍𐤍 and it shall be for a token𐤋𐤀𐤅𐤕 of a covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 between me and the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 τὸ τόξον μου τίθημι ἐν τῇ νεφέλη, καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς. ¹⁴ And it shall come to pass, when I bring𐤁𐤏𐤍𐤍𐤉 a cloud𐤏𐤍𐤍 over the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 that the bow𐤄𐤒𐤔𐤕 shall be seen𐤅𐤍𐤓𐤀𐤕𐤄 in the cloud:𐤁𐤏𐤍𐤍 καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῷ συνς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὀφθήσεται τὸ τόξον μου ἐν τῆ νεφέλῃ, ¹⁵ And I will remember𐤅𐤆𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉 my covenant,𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 which is between me and you and every living𐤇𐤉𐤄 creature𐤍𐤐𐤔 of all flesh;𐤁𐤔𐤓 and the waters𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 shall no more𐤏𐤅𐤃 become a flood𐤋𐤌𐤁𐤅𐤋 to destroy𐤋𐤔𐤇𐤕 all flesh.𐤁𐤔𐤓 καὶ μνησθήσομαι τῆς διαθήκης μου, ἥ ἐστιν ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης ψυχῆς ζώσης ἐν πάσῃ σαρκί· καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἔηι τὸ ὕδωρ εἰς κατακλυσμόν, ὥστε ἐξαλεῖψαι πᾶσαν σάρκα. ¹⁶ And the bow𐤄𐤒𐤔𐤕 shall be in the cloud;𐤁𐤏𐤍𐤍 and I will look upon it,𐤅𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕𐤉𐤄 that I may remember𐤋𐤆𐤊𐤓 the everlasting𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 between𐤁𐤉𐤍 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 and𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤍 every living𐤇𐤉𐤄 creature𐤍𐤐𐤔 of all flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 that is upon the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 καὶ ἱστᾶι τὸ τόξον μου ἐν τῇ νεφέλῃ, καὶ ὄψομαι τοῦ μνησθῆναι διαθήκην αἰώνιον ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης ψυχῆς ζώσης ἐν πάσῃ σαρκὶ ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ¹⁷ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Noah,𐤍𐤇 This is the token𐤀𐤅𐤕 of the covenant,𐤄𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 which I have established𐤄𐤒𐤌𐤕𐤉 between me and all flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 that is upon the earth.𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤐 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ Νῶε τοῦτο τὸ σημεῖον τῆς διαθήκης ἧς διεθέμην ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης σαρκὸς ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ¹⁸ And the sons𐤁𐤍𐤉 of Noah,𐤍𐤇 that went forth𐤄𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤉𐤌 of the ark,𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤄 were Shem,𐤔𐤌 and Ham,𐤅𐤇𐤌 and Japheth:𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤕 and Ham𐤅𐤇𐤌 𐤄𐤅𐤀 is the father𐤀𐤁𐤉 of Canaan.𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 Ἦσαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Νῶε οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ Σῆμ’, Χάμ, ἸάΦεθ. Χάμ ἦν πατὴρ Χανάαν. ¹⁹ These are the three𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤄 sons𐤁𐤍𐤉 of Noah:𐤍𐤇 and of them was the whole earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 overspread.𐤍𐤐𐤑𐤄 τρεῖς οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Νῶε· ἀπὸ τούτων διεσπάρησαν ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν. ²⁰ And Noah𐤍𐤇 began𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤋 to be an husbandman,𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 and he planted𐤅𐤉𐤈𐤏 a vineyard:𐤊𐤓𐤌 Καὶ ἤρξατο Νῶε ἄνθρωπος γεωργὸς γῆς, καὶ ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα. ²¹ And he drank𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕 of the wine,𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤍 and was drunken;𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤓 and he was uncovered𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤂𐤋 within𐤁𐤕𐤅𐤊 his tent.𐤀𐤄𐤋𐤅 καὶ ἔπιεν ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ ἐμεθύσθη, καὶ ἐγυμνώθη ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ. ²² And Ham,𐤇𐤌 the father𐤀𐤁𐤉 of Canaan,𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 the nakedness𐤏𐤓𐤅𐤕 of his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 and told𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤃 his two𐤋𐤔𐤍𐤉 brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 without.𐤁𐤇𐤅𐤑 καὶ εἶδεν Χὰμ ὁ Χανάνν τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἀνήγγειλεν δυσὶν ἀδελΦοῖς αὐτοῦ ἔξω. ²³ And Shem𐤔𐤌 and Japheth𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤕 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 a garment,𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤋𐤄 and laid𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤌𐤅 it upon both𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 their shoulders,𐤔𐤊𐤌 and went backward,𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤍𐤉𐤕 and covered𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤎𐤅 the nakedness𐤏𐤓𐤅𐤕 of their father;𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤌 and their faces𐤅𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 were backward,𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤍𐤉𐤕 and they saw𐤓𐤀𐤅 not their father's𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤌 nakedness.𐤅𐤏𐤓𐤅𐤕 καὶ λαβόντες Σῆμ’ καὶ ἸάΦεθ τὸ ἱμάτιον ἐπέθηκαν ἐπὶ τὰ δύο νῶτα αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπισθοφανῶς καὶ συνεκάλυψαν τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν· καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν ὀπισθοφανές, καὶ τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν οὐκ ἴδον. ²⁴ And Noah𐤍𐤇 awoke𐤅𐤉𐤉𐤒𐤑 from his wine,𐤌𐤉𐤉𐤍𐤅 and knew𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤏 what his younger𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 son𐤁𐤍𐤅 had done𐤏𐤔𐤄 unto him. ἐξένηψεν δὲ Νῶε ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου, καὶ ἔγνω ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ τερος. ²⁵ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Cursed𐤀𐤓𐤅𐤓 be Canaan;𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 a servant𐤏𐤁𐤃 of servants𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 shall he be unto his brethren.𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 καὶ εἶπεν Ἐπικατάρατος Χανάαν. παῖς οἰκέτης ἔσται τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ. ²⁶ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Blessed𐤁𐤓𐤅𐤊 be the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of Shem;𐤔𐤌 and Canaan𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 shall be𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤉 his servant.𐤏𐤁𐤃 καἰ εἶπεν Εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Σήμ, καὶ ἔσται Χανάαν παῖς αὐτοῦ. ²⁷ God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 shall enlarge𐤉𐤐𐤕 Japheth,𐤋𐤉𐤐𐤕 and he shall dwell𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤍 in the tents𐤁𐤀𐤄𐤋𐤉 of Shem;𐤔𐤌 and Canaan𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 shall be his servant.𐤏𐤁𐤃 πλατύναι ὁ θεὸς τῷ ἸάΦαθ, καὶ κατοικησάτω ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τού Σήμ· καὶ γενηθήτω Χανάαν παῖς αὐτῶν. ²⁸ And Noah𐤍𐤇 lived𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤉 after𐤀𐤇𐤓 the flood𐤄𐤌𐤁𐤅𐤋 three𐤔𐤋𐤔 hundred𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤔𐤍𐤄 and fifty𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤌 years.𐤔𐤍𐤄 Ἔζησεν δὲ Νῶε μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμὸν τριακόσια ἔτη. ²⁹ And all the days𐤉𐤌𐤉 of Noah𐤍𐤇 were nine𐤕𐤔𐤏 hundred𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 𐤔𐤍𐤄 and fifty𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤌 years:𐤔𐤍𐤄 and he died.𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤕 𐤐 καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι ἡμέραι Νῶε ἐννακόσια πεντήκοντα ἔτη, καἰ ἀπέθανεν.
