Chapter 43 ¹ And the famine𐤅𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤁 was sore𐤊𐤁𐤃 in the land.𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 Ὁ δὲ λιμὸς ἐνίσχυσεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. ² And it came to pass, when they had eaten up𐤊𐤋𐤅 𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤋 the corn𐤄𐤔𐤁𐤓 which they had brought out𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤅 of Egypt,𐤌𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 their father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, Go again,𐤔𐤁𐤅 buy𐤔𐤁𐤓𐤅 us a little𐤌𐤏𐤈 food.𐤀𐤊𐤋 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκ’ λεσαν καταΦαγεῖν τὸν σῖτον ὃν ἤνεγκαν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, καὶ εἶπεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῶν πορευθέντες πορευθέντες πρίασθε ἡμῖν μικρὰ βρώματα. ³ And Judah𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 spake𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 The man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 did solemnly𐤄𐤏𐤃 protest𐤄𐤏𐤃 unto us, saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Ye shall not see𐤕𐤓𐤀𐤅 my face,𐤐𐤍𐤉 except𐤁𐤋𐤕𐤉 your brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 be with you. εῖπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἰούδας λέγων Διαμαρτυρίᾳ διαμεμαρτύρηται ἡμῖν ὁ ἂψ λέγων οὐκ ὂψεσθε τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐὰν μὴ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν ὁ νεώτερος καταβῇ πρὸς μέ. ⁴ If thou wilt𐤉𐤔𐤊 send𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤇 our brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤍𐤅 with us, we will go down𐤍𐤓𐤃𐤄 and buy𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤁𐤓𐤄 thee food:𐤀𐤊𐤋 εἰ μὲν οὖν ἀποστέλλεις τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμῶν μεθ’ ἡμῶν, καταβησόμεθα καὶ ἀγοράσωμέν σοι βρώματα· ⁵ But if thou wilt not send𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤇 him, we will not go down:𐤍𐤓𐤃 for the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 said𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto us, Ye shall not see𐤕𐤓𐤀𐤅 my face,𐤐𐤍𐤉 except your brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 be with you. εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀποστέλλεις τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμῶν μεθ’ ἡμῶν, οὐ πορευσόμεθα· ὁ γὰρ ἄνθρωπος εἶπεν ἡμῖν λέγων οὐκ ὄψεσθέ μου τὸ πρόσωπον ἐὰν μὴ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν ὁ νεώτερος μεθ’ ὑμῶν ᾖ. ⁶ And Israel𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Wherefore dealt ye so ill𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤕𐤌 with me, as to tell𐤋𐤄𐤂𐤉𐤃 the man𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤔 whether ye had yet a brother?𐤀𐤇 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰσραήλ Τί ἐκακοποιήσατέ μοι, ἀναγγείλαντες τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ εἰ ἔστιν ὑμῖν ἀδελφός; ⁷ And they said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 The man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 asked𐤔𐤀𐤅𐤋 us straitly𐤔𐤀𐤋 of our state, and of our kindred,𐤅𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤍𐤅 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Is your father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 yet alive?𐤇𐤉 have ye𐤄𐤉𐤔 another brother?𐤀𐤇 and we told𐤅𐤍𐤂𐤃 him according𐤏𐤋 to the tenor𐤐𐤉 of these words:𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 could we certainly𐤄𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤏 know𐤍𐤃𐤏 that he would say,𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Bring𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤉𐤃𐤅 your brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 down? οἰ δὲ εἶπαν Ἐρωτῶν ἐπηρώτησεν ἡμᾶς ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ τὴν γενεὰν ἡ λέγων Εἰ ἒτι ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ζῆ ; εἰ ἔστιν ὑμῖν ἀδελφός; καὶ ἀπηγγείλαμεν αὐτῷ κατὰ τὴν ἐπερώτησιν αὐτοῦ. μὴ ᾔδειμεν εἰ ἐρεῖ ἡμῖν Ἀγάγετε τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμῶν; ⁸ And Judah𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Israel𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Send𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤄 the lad𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 with me, and we will arise𐤅𐤍𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤄 and go; that we may live,𐤅𐤍𐤇𐤉𐤄 and not die,𐤍𐤌𐤅𐤕 both we, and thou, and also our little ones.𐤈𐤐𐤍𐤅 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰούδας πρὸς Ἰσραὴλ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ Ἀπ’ ὅστ’ εἷλον τὸ παιδάριον μετ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ ἀναστάντες πορευσόμεθα, ἵνα ζῶμεν καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ σὺ καὶ ἡ ἀποσκευὴ ἡμῶν. ⁹ I will be surety𐤀𐤏𐤓𐤁𐤍𐤅 for him; of my hand𐤌𐤉𐤃𐤉 shalt thou require𐤕𐤁𐤒𐤔𐤍𐤅 him: if𐤀𐤌 I bring𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤕𐤉𐤅 him not unto thee, and set𐤅𐤄𐤑𐤂𐤕𐤉𐤅 him before thee,𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 then let me bear the blame𐤅𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤕𐤉 for ever:𐤄𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 ἐγὼ δὲ ἐκδέχομαι αὐτόν, ἐκ χειρός μου ζήτησον αὐτόν· ἐὰν μὴ ἀγάγω αὐτὸν πρὸς σὲ καὶ στήσω αὐτὸν ἐναντίον σου, ἡμαρτηκὼς ἔσομαι πρὸς σὲ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας. ¹⁰ For except𐤋𐤅𐤋𐤀 we had lingered,𐤄𐤕𐤌𐤄𐤌𐤄𐤍𐤅 surely now we had returned𐤔𐤁𐤍𐤅 this second time.𐤐𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 εἰ μὴ γὰρ ἐβραδύναμὲν, ἤδη ἂν ὑπεστρέψαμεν δίς. ¹¹ And their father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤌 Israel𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, If it must be so now,𐤀𐤐𐤅𐤀 do𐤏𐤔𐤅 this; take𐤒𐤇𐤅 of the best fruits𐤌𐤆𐤌𐤓𐤕 in the land𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 in your vessels,𐤁𐤊𐤋𐤉𐤊𐤌 and carry down𐤅𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤉𐤃𐤅 the man𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤔 a present,𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 a little𐤌𐤏𐤈 balm,𐤑𐤓𐤉 and a little𐤅𐤌𐤏𐤈 honey,𐤃𐤁𐤔 spices,𐤍𐤊𐤀𐤕 and myrrh,𐤅𐤋𐤈 nuts,𐤁𐤈𐤍𐤉𐤌 and almonds:𐤅𐤔𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῶν Εἰ οὕτως ἐστίν, τοῦτο ποιήσατε· λάβετε ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν τῆς γῆς ἐν τοῖς ἀηίοις ὑμῶν, καὶ καταγάγετε τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ δῶρα τῆς ῥιτίνης καὶ τοῦ μέλιτος, θυμίαμα καὶ στακτὴν καὶ τερέμινθον καὶ κάρυα. ¹² And take𐤒𐤇𐤅 double𐤌𐤔𐤍𐤄 money𐤅𐤊𐤎𐤐 in your hand;𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤊𐤌 and the money𐤄𐤊𐤎𐤐 that was brought again𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤔𐤁 in the mouth𐤁𐤐𐤉 of your sacks,𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤊𐤌 carry it again𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤅 in your hand;𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤊𐤌 peradventure it was an oversight:𐤌𐤔𐤂𐤄 καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον δισσὸν λάβετε ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν ὑμῶν· τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ ἀποστραφὲν ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ὑμῶν ἀποστρέψατε μεθ’ ὑμῶν· μή ποτε ἀγνόημά ἐστιν. ¹³ Take𐤒𐤇𐤅 also your brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 and arise,𐤅𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤅 go again𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤅 unto the man:𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 καὶ τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμῶν λάβετε, καὶ ἀναστάντες κατάβητε πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον. ¹⁴ And God𐤅𐤀𐤋 Almighty𐤔𐤃𐤉 give𐤉𐤕𐤍 you mercy𐤓𐤇𐤌𐤉𐤌 before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 the man,𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 that he may send away𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤇 your other𐤀𐤇𐤓 brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 and Benjamin.𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤍 If𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 I be bereaved𐤔𐤊𐤋𐤕𐤉 of my children, I am bereaved.𐤔𐤊𐤋𐤕𐤉 ὁ δὲ θεός μου δᾠη ὑμῖν χόριν ἐναντίον τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, καὶ ἀποστείλαι τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμῶν τὸν ἕνα καῖ’ τὸν Βενιαμείν· ἐγὼ μὲν γὰρ καθὰ ἠτέκνωμαι, ἠτέκνωμαι. ¹⁵ And the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇𐤅 that𐤄𐤆𐤀𐤕 present,𐤄𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 and they took𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤅 double𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤍𐤄 money𐤊𐤎𐤐 in their hand,𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤌 and Benjamin;𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤍 and rose up,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌𐤅 and went down𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤅 to Egypt,𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 and stood𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤅 before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 Joseph.𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 Δαβόντες δὲ οἱ ἄνδρες τὰ δῶρα ταῦτα καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον ἔλαβον ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν, καὶ τὸν Βενιαμείν· καὶ ἀνακατέβησαν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ ἒστησαν ἐναντίον Ἰωσήφ. ¹⁶ And when Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 Benjamin𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤍 with𐤀𐤕𐤌 them, he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to the ruler of his house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 Bring𐤄𐤁𐤀 these men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 home,𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 and slay,𐤅𐤈𐤁𐤇 𐤈𐤁𐤇 and make ready;𐤅𐤄𐤊𐤍 for these men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 shall dine𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 with me at noon.𐤁𐤑𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤌 ὂδεμ δὲ ἸωσὴΦ αὐτοὺς καὶ τὸν Βενιαμεὶν τὸν ἀδελΦὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν ὁμομήτριον, κα ἐνετείλατο τῷ ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ εἰσαγαγεῖν τοὺς ἀνθρώ ποὺς εἰς τήν οἰκίαν κοὶ σφάξον θύματα καὶ ἑτοίμασον· μετ’ ἐμοῦ γὰρ φάγονται οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἄρτους τὴν μεσημωρίαν . ¹⁷ And the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 did𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤔 as Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 bade;𐤀𐤌𐤓 and the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 into Joseph's𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 house.𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 ἐποίησεν δὲ ὁ ἄν· θρωπος καθὰ εἶπεν ἸωσήΦ, καὶ εἰσήγαγεν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ἸωσήΦ. ¹⁸ And the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 were afraid,𐤅𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 because they were brought𐤄𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤅 into Joseph's𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 house;𐤁𐤉𐤕 and they said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 Because𐤃𐤁𐤓 of the money𐤄𐤊𐤎𐤐 that was returned𐤄𐤔𐤁 in our sacks𐤁𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤅 at the first time𐤁𐤕𐤇𐤋𐤄 are we brought in;𐤌𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤉𐤌 that he may seek occasion𐤋𐤄𐤕𐤂𐤋𐤋 against us, and fall𐤅𐤋𐤄𐤕𐤍𐤐𐤋 upon us, and take𐤅𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕 us for bondmen,𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 and our asses.𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤍𐤅 ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἄνθρωποι ὅτι εἰσηνέχθησαν εἰς τὸν οἶκον ἸωσὴΦ εἶπαν Διὰ τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ ἀποστραφὲν ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ἡμῶν τὴν ἀρχὴν ἡμεῖς εἰσαγόμεθα, τοῦ συκοφαντῆσαι ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐπιἡμῖν, τοῦ λαβεῖν ἡμᾶς εἰς παῖδας καὶ τοὺς ὄνους ἡμῶν. ¹⁹ And they came near𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔𐤅 to the steward𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 of Joseph's𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 house,𐤁𐤉𐤕 and they communed𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅 with him at the door𐤐𐤕𐤇 of the house,𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 προσδὲ δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ οἴκου ἸωσὴΦ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ πυλῶνι τοῦ οἴκου ²⁰ And said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 O𐤁𐤉 sir,𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 we came indeed𐤉𐤓𐤃 down𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤍𐤅 at the first time𐤁𐤕𐤇𐤋𐤄 to buy𐤋𐤔𐤁𐤓 food:𐤀𐤊𐤋 λἐγοντες Δεόμεθα, κύριε· κατέβημεν τὴν ἀρχὴν πρίασθαι βρώματα· ²¹ And it came to pass, when we came𐤁𐤀𐤍𐤅 to the inn,𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤅𐤍 that we opened𐤅𐤍𐤐𐤕𐤇𐤄 our sacks,𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤅 and, behold, every man's𐤀𐤉𐤔 money𐤊𐤎𐤐 was in the mouth𐤁𐤐𐤉 of his sack,𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤅 our money𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤍𐤅 in full weight:𐤁𐤌𐤔𐤒𐤋𐤅 and we have brought it again𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤁 in our hand.𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤍𐤅 καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἤλθομεν εἰς τὸ καταλῦσαι καὶ ἠνοίξαμεν τοὺς μαρσίππους ἡμῶν, καὶ τόδε τὸ ἀργύριον ἑκάστου ἐν τῷ μαρσίππῳ αὐτοῦ. τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν cv σταθμῷ ἀπε στρέψαμεν νῦν ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ἡμῶν, ²² And other𐤀𐤇𐤓 money𐤅𐤊𐤎𐤐 have we brought down𐤄𐤅𐤓𐤃𐤍𐤅 in our hands𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤍𐤅 to buy𐤋𐤔𐤁𐤓 food:𐤀𐤊𐤋 we cannot tell𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤍𐤅 who put𐤔𐤌 our money𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤍𐤅 in our sacks.𐤁𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤅 καὶ ἀργύριον ἕτερον ἠνέγκαμεν μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν ἀγοράσαι βρώματα· οὐκ οἴδαμεν τίς ἐνέβαλεν τὸ ἀργύριον εἰς τοὺς μαρσίππους ἡμῶν. ²³ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Peace𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 be to you, fear𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 not: your God,𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤊𐤌 and the God𐤅𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of your father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 hath given𐤍𐤕𐤍 you treasure𐤌𐤈𐤌𐤅𐤍 in your sacks:𐤁𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤊𐤌 I had𐤁𐤀 your money.𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤊𐤌 And he brought𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤑𐤀 Simeon𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤅𐤍 out unto them. εἶ(??)εν δὲ αὐτοῖς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἵλεως ὑμῖν, μὴ φοβεῖσθε· ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν καὶ ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ἒδωκεν ὑμῖν θησαυροὺς ἐν τοῖς μαρσίπποις ὑμῶν./ τὸ δὲ ἀργύριον ὑμῶν εὐδοκιμοῦν ἀπέχω. καὶ ἐξήγαγεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Συμεών, ²⁴ And the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 into Joseph's𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 and gave𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 them water,𐤌𐤉𐤌 and they washed𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤇𐤑𐤅 their feet;𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤌 and he gave𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 their asses𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤄𐤌 provender.𐤌𐤎𐤐𐤅𐤀 καὶ ἤνεγκεν ὕδωρ νίψαι τοὺς πόδας αὐτῶν, καὶ ἤνεγκεν χορτάσματα τοῖς ὄνοις αὐτῶν. ²⁵ And they made ready𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤉𐤍𐤅 the present𐤄𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 against𐤏𐤃 Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 came𐤁𐤅𐤀 at noon:𐤁𐤑𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤌 for they heard𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤅 that they should eat𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 bread𐤋𐤇𐤌 there. ἠτοίμασαν δὲ τὰ δῶρα ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν Ἰωσὴφ μεσημβρίᾳ· ἤκουσαν γὰρ ὅτι ἐκεῖ μέλλει ἀριστᾷν. ²⁶ And when Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 home,𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 they brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤅 him the present𐤄𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 which was in their hand𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤌 into the house,𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 and bowed𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 themselves to him to the earth.𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 εἰσῆλθεν δὲ ἸωσὴΦ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν, καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ τὰ δῶρα ἁ εἶχον ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν εἰς τὸν οἶκον, καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν. ²⁷ And he asked𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀𐤋 them of their welfare,𐤋𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Is your father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊𐤌 well,𐤄𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 the old man𐤄𐤆𐤒𐤍 of whom ye spake?𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕𐤌 Is he yet alive?𐤇𐤉 ἠρώτησεν δὲ αὐτούς ΙΙῶς ἒχετε; καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Εἰ ὑγιαίνει ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ πρεσβύτερος ὃν εἲπατε; ἒτι ζῇ; ²⁸ And they answered,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 Thy servant𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 our father𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 is in good health,𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 he is yet alive.𐤇𐤉 And they bowed down their heads,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤃𐤅 and made obeisance.𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Ὑγιαίνει ὁ παῖς σου ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν, ἔτι ζῇ. καὶ εἶπεν Εὐλογητὸς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος τῷ θεῷ. καὶ κύψαντες πρρσεκύνησαν. ²⁹ And he lifted up𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 his eyes,𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅 and saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 his brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 Benjamin,𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤍 his mother's𐤀𐤌𐤅 son,𐤁𐤍 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Is this your younger𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊𐤌 of whom ye spake𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕𐤌 unto me? And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 be gracious𐤉𐤇𐤍𐤊 unto thee, my son.𐤁𐤍𐤉 ἀναβλέψας δὲ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἸσὴΦ ἴδεν Βενιαμεὶν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν ὁμομήτριον, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμῶν ὁ νεώτερος, ὃν εἴπατε πρὸς μὲ ἀγαγεῖν; καὶ εἶπεν Ὁ θεὸς ἐλεήσαι σε, τέκνον. ³⁰ And Joseph𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 made haste;𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤄𐤓 for his bowels𐤓𐤇𐤌𐤉𐤅 did yearn𐤍𐤊𐤌𐤓𐤅 upon his brother:𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 and he sought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤒𐤔 where to weep;𐤋𐤁𐤊𐤅𐤕 and he entered𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 into his chamber,𐤄𐤇𐤃𐤓𐤄 and wept𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤊 there. ἐταράχθη δὲ Ἰρὸς συνεστρέφετο γὰρ τὰ ἔντερα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῷ ἀδελΦῷ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐζήτει κλαῦσαι· εἰσελθὼν δὲ εἰς τὸ ταμιεῖον ἔκλαυσεν ἐκεῖ. ³¹ And he washed𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤇𐤑 his face,𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 and went out,𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 and refrained𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤀𐤐𐤒 himself, and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Set on𐤔𐤉𐤌𐤅 bread.𐤋𐤇𐤌 καὶ νιψάμενος τὸ πρόσωπον ὂν ἐξελθὼν ἐνεκρατεύσατο, καὶ εἶπεν ΙΙαράθετε ἄρτους. ³² And they set on𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤌𐤅 for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians,𐤅𐤋𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 which did eat𐤄𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤉𐤌 with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians𐤄𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 might𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤋𐤅𐤍 not eat𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤋 bread𐤋𐤇𐤌 with the Hebrews;𐤄𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 for that is an abomination𐤕𐤅𐤏𐤁𐤄 unto the Egyptians. καὶ παρέθηκαν αὐτῷ μόνῳ, καὶ αὐτοῖς καθ’ ἑαυτούς, καὶ τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις τοῖς συνδειπνοῦσιν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καθ’ ἑαυτούς· οὐ γὰρ ἐδύναντο οἱ Αἰγήπτιοι συνεσθίειν μετὰ τῶν Ἐβραίων ἂρτους, βδέλυγμα γάρ ἐστιν τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις πᾶς ποιμὴν προβάτων. ³³ And they sat𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 before him,𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 the firstborn𐤄𐤁𐤊𐤓 according to his birthright,𐤊𐤁𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤅 and the youngest𐤅𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤉𐤓 according to his youth:𐤊𐤑𐤏𐤓𐤕𐤅 and the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 marvelled𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤌𐤄𐤅 one𐤀𐤉𐤔 at another.𐤓𐤏𐤄𐤅 ἐκάθισαν δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, ὁ πρωτότοκος κατὰ τὰ πρεσβεῖα αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ νεώτερος κατὰ τὴν νεότητα αὐτοῦ. ἐξίσταντο δὲ οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ. ³⁴ And he took𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 and sent messes𐤌𐤔𐤀𐤕 unto them from before him:𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 but Benjamin's𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌𐤍 mess𐤌𐤔𐤀𐤕 was five𐤇𐤌𐤔 times𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤕 so much as𐤅𐤕𐤓𐤁 any of theirs. And they drank,𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤅 and were merry𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤅 with him. ἦραν δὲ μερίδα παρ’ αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτούς· ἐμεγαλύνθη δὲ ἡ μερὶς Βενιαμεὶν παρὰ τὰς μερίδας πάντων πενταπλασίως πρὸς τὰς ἐκείνων. ἔπιον δὲ καὶ ἐμεθύσθησαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ.
