Chapter 17 ¹ And when Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 was ninety𐤕𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌 𐤔𐤍𐤄 years𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 old𐤁𐤍 and nine,𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤏 the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 appeared𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 to Abram,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, I am the Almighty𐤔𐤃𐤉 God;𐤀𐤋 walk𐤄𐤕𐤄𐤋𐤊 before me,𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 and be thou perfect.𐤕𐤌𐤉𐤌 Ἐγένετο δὲ Ἀβρὰμ ἐτῶν ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα, καὶ ὤφθη Κύριος τῷ Ἀβρὰμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεός σου· εὐαρέστει ἐναντίον ἐμοῦ, καὶ γίνου ἄμεμπτος· ² And I will make𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤄 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 between me and thee, and will multiply𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤄 thee exceedingly.𐤁𐤌𐤀𐤃 𐤌𐤀𐤃 καὶ καὶ θήσομαι τὴν διαθήκην μου ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ, καὶ πληθυνῶ σε σφόδρα. ³ And Abram𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 fell𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤋 on his face:𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 and God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 talked𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 with him, saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 καὶ ἔπεσεν Ἀβρὰμ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς λέγων ⁴ As for me,𐤀𐤍𐤉 behold, my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 is with thee, and thou shalt be a father𐤋𐤀𐤁 of many𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤍 nations.𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 Καὶ ἐγώ, ἡ διαθήκη μου μετὰ σοῦ· καὶ ἔσῃ πατὴρ πλήθους ἐθνῶν. ⁵ Neither shall thy name𐤔𐤌𐤊 any more be called𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 Abram,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 but thy name𐤔𐤌𐤊 shall be Abraham;𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 for a father𐤀𐤁 of many𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤍 nations𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 have I made thee.𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉𐤊 καὶ οὐ κληθήσεται ἔτι τὸ ὄνομά σου Ἁβράμ, ἀλλ’ ἔσται Ἀβραὰμ τὸ ὄνομα σου· ὅτι πατέρα πολλῶν ἐθνῶν τέθεικά σε. ⁶ And I will make𐤅𐤄𐤐𐤓𐤕𐤉 thee exceeding𐤁𐤌𐤀𐤃 𐤌𐤀𐤃 fruitful, and I will make𐤅𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉𐤊 nations𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 of thee, and kings𐤅𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤉𐤌 shall come out𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 of thee. καὶ αὐξάνω σε σφόδρα καὶ θήσω σε εἰς ἔθνη, καὶ βασιλεῖς ἐκ σοῦ ἐξελεύσονται. ⁷ And I will establish𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤌𐤕𐤉 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 between me and thee and thy seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 after thee𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 in their generations𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤕𐤌 for an everlasting𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 covenant,𐤋𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 to be a God𐤋𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 unto thee, and to thy seed𐤅𐤋𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 after thee.𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 καὶ στήσω τὴν διαθήκην μου ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον, εἶναί σου θεὸς καὶ τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σέ. ⁸ And I will give𐤅𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 unto thee, and to thy seed𐤅𐤋𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 after thee,𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 wherein thou art a stranger,𐤌𐤂𐤓𐤉𐤊 all the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 of Canaan,𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 for an everlasting𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 possession;𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤆𐤕 and I will be their God.𐤋𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 καὶ δώσω σοι τῷ σπέρματί σου μετὰ σὲ τὴν γῆν ἢν παροικεῖς, πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν κατάσχεσιν εἰς κατάσχεσιν αἰώνιον· καὶ ἕσομαι αὐτοῖς θεός. ⁹ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 Thou shalt keep𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤓 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 therefore, thou, and thy seed𐤅𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 after thee𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 in their generations.𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤕𐤌 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Ἀβραάμ Σὺ δὲ τὴν διαθήκην μου διατηρήσεις, σὺ καὶ τὸ σπέρμα σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν. ¹⁰ This is my covenant,𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 which ye shall keep,𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤓𐤅 between me and you and thy seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 after thee;𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 Every man child𐤆𐤊𐤓 among you shall be circumcised.𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤋 καὶ αὕτη ἡ διαθήκη διατηρήσεις ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν· περιτμηθήσεται ὑμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν. ¹¹ And ye shall circumcise the flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 of your foreskin;𐤏𐤓𐤋𐤕𐤊𐤌 and it shall be a token𐤋𐤀𐤅𐤕 of the covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 betwixt me and you. καὶ περιτμηθήσεσθε τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας ὑμῶν, καὶ ἔσται ἐν σημείῳ διαθήκης ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν. ¹² And he that is eight𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤕 days𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 old𐤅𐤁𐤍 shall be circumcised𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤋 among you, every man child𐤆𐤊𐤓 in your generations,𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤕𐤉𐤊𐤌 he that is born𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤃 in the house,𐤁𐤉𐤕 or bought𐤅𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤕 with money𐤊𐤎𐤐 of any stranger,𐤁𐤍 𐤍𐤊𐤓 which is not of thy seed.𐤌𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 καὶ παιδίον ὀκτὼ ἡμερῶν περιτμηθήσεται ὐμῖν πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν· ὁ οἰκογενὴς τῆς οἰκίας σου καὶ ὁ ἀργυρώνητος ἀπὸ παντὸς υἱοῦ ἀλλοτρίου, ὄς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματός σου, ¹³ He that is born𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤃 in thy house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤊 and he that is bought𐤅𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤕 with thy money,𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤊 must needs𐤄𐤌𐤅𐤋 be circumcised:𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤋 and my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 shall be in your flesh𐤁𐤁𐤔𐤓𐤊𐤌 for an everlasting𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 covenant.𐤋𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 περιτομῇ περιτμηθήσεται, ὁ οἰκογενὴς τῆς οἰκίας σου καὶ ὁ ἀργυρώνητος. καὶ ἔσται ἡ διαθήκη μου ἐπὶ τῆς σαρκὸς ὑμῶν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον. ¹⁴ And the uncircumcised𐤅𐤏𐤓𐤋 man child𐤆𐤊𐤓 whose𐤀𐤔𐤓 flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 of his foreskin𐤏𐤓𐤋𐤕𐤅 is not circumcised,𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤋 that soul𐤄𐤍𐤐𐤔 shall be cut off𐤅𐤍𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤄 from his people;𐤌𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤄 he hath broken𐤄𐤐𐤓 𐤎 my covenant.𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 καὶ ἀπερίτμητος, ἄρσην, ὃς οὐ περιτμηθήσεται τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ τῇ ἡμέρα τῇ ὀγδόῃ, ἐξολεθρευθήσεται ἡ ψυχὴ ἐκείνη ἐκ τοῦ γένους ὅτι τὴν διαθήκην μου διεσκέδασεν. ¹⁵ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 As for Sarai𐤔𐤓𐤉 thy wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 thou shalt not call𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 her name𐤔𐤌𐤄 Sarai,𐤔𐤓𐤉 but𐤊𐤉 Sarah𐤔𐤓𐤄 shall her name𐤔𐤌𐤄 be. Εἶρεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ἀβραάμ Σάρα ἡ γυνή σου, οὐ κληθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Σάρα, ἀλλὰ Σάρρα ἔσται τὸ ὄνομα αm̓ῆς· ¹⁶ And I will bless𐤅𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤉 her, and give𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 thee a son𐤁𐤍 also of her: yea, I will bless𐤅𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤉𐤄 her, and she shall be a mother of nations;𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 kings𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤉 of people𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 shall be of her. εὐλογήσω δὲ αὐτήν, καὶ δώσω σοι ἐξ αὐτῆς τέκνον. καὶ εὐλογήσω αὐτόν, καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἔθνη, κοὶ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἔσονται. ¹⁷ Then Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 fell𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤋 upon his face,𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 and laughed,𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 in his heart,𐤁𐤋𐤁𐤅 Shall a child be born𐤉𐤅𐤋𐤃 unto him that is an hundred𐤌𐤀𐤄 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 old?𐤄𐤋𐤁𐤍 and shall Sarah,𐤔𐤓𐤄 that is ninety𐤕𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 old,𐤄𐤁𐤕 bear?𐤕𐤋𐤃 καὶ ἔπεσεν Ἀβραὰμ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον κοὶ ἐγέλασεν καὶ εἶπεν ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτοῦ λέγων.Εἰ τῷ ἑκατονταετεῖ γενήσεται υἱός, καὶ εἰ Σάρρᾳ ἐνενήκοντα ἐτῶν γενήσεται ; ¹⁸ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto God,𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 O that𐤋𐤅 Ishmael𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤀𐤋 might live𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤄 before thee!𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 εἶπεν δὲ Ἁβραἀμ τὸν θεόν Ἱσμαὴλ οὗτος ζήτω ἐναντίον σου. ¹⁹ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Sarah𐤔𐤓𐤄 thy wife𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 shall bear𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤕 thee a son𐤁𐤍 indeed;𐤀𐤁𐤋 and thou shalt call𐤅𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤕 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Isaac:𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 and I will establish𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤌𐤕𐤉 my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 with him for an everlasting𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 covenant,𐤋𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 and with his seed𐤋𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤅 after him.𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤅 εἶρεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς Ἀβραάμ Ναί· ἰδοὺ Σάρρα ἡ γυνή σου τέξεταί σοι υἱόν, καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἱσαάκ· καὶ σ,ήσω τὴν διαθήκην μου πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον, καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτόν. ²⁰ And as for Ishmael,𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤀𐤋 I have heard thee:𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕𐤉𐤊 Behold, I have blessed𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤉 him, and will make him fruitful,𐤅𐤄𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 and will multiply𐤅𐤄𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤉 him exceedingly;𐤁𐤌𐤀𐤃 𐤌𐤀𐤃 twelve𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤏𐤔𐤓 princes𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤀𐤌 shall he beget,𐤉𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤃 and I will make him𐤅𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉𐤅 a great𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 nation.𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤉 πεπὶ δὲ ’lσμαὴλ ἰδοὺ ἐπήκουσά σου· καὶ εὐλόγησα αὐτόν, καὶ αὐξάνω αὐτὸν καὶ πληθυνῶ αὐτὸν σφόδρα· δώδεκα ἔθνη γεννήσει, καὶ δώσω αὐτὸν εἰς ἔθνος μέγα. ²¹ But my covenant𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤉 will I establish𐤀𐤒𐤉𐤌 with Isaac,𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 which Sarah𐤔𐤓𐤄 shall bear𐤕𐤋𐤃 unto thee at this set time𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤏𐤃 in the next𐤄𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤕 year.𐤁𐤔𐤍𐤄 ἰτὴν δὲ διαθήκην μου στήσω πρὸς Ἱσαάκ, ὄν τέξεταί σοι Σάρρα εἰς τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ ἑτέρῳ. ²² And he left off𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤋 talking𐤋𐤃𐤁𐤓 with him, and God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 went up𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤋 from Abraham.𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 συνετέδὲ λαλῶν πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ἀνέβη ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ Ἁβραάμ. ²³ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 Ishmael𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤀𐤋 his son,𐤁𐤍𐤅 and all that were born𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤃𐤉 in his house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 and all that were bought𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤕 with his money,𐤊𐤎𐤐𐤅 every male𐤆𐤊𐤓 among the men𐤁𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 of Abraham's𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 house;𐤁𐤉𐤕 and circumcised𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤋 the flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 of their foreskin𐤏𐤓𐤋𐤕𐤌 in the selfsame𐤁𐤏𐤑𐤌 day,𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 as God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 had said𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto him. Καὶ ν Ἀβραὰμ Ἱσμαὴλ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς οἰκογενεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀργυρωνήτους καὶ Καὶ ἄρσεν τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ἀβραάμ, καὶ περιέτεμεν τὰς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεός. ²⁴ And Abraham𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 was ninety𐤕𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 old𐤁𐤍 and nine,𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤏 when he was circumcised𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤅 in the flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 of his foreskin.𐤏𐤓𐤋𐤕𐤅 'Αβραάμ δὲ ἦν ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐτῶν, ἡνίκα περιέτεμεν τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ· ²⁵ And Ishmael𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤀𐤋 his son𐤁𐤍𐤅 was thirteen𐤔𐤋𐤔 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 years𐤔𐤍𐤄 old,𐤁𐤍 when he was circumcised𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤅 in the flesh𐤁𐤔𐤓 of his foreskin.𐤏𐤓𐤋𐤕𐤅 Ἱσμαὴλ δὲ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἐτῶν δέκα τριῶν ἦν, ἡνίκα περιτὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ. ²⁶ In the selfsame𐤁𐤏𐤑𐤌 day𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 was Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 circumcised,𐤍𐤌𐤅𐤋 and Ishmael𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤀𐤋 his son.𐤁𐤍𐤅 ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τῆς ἡμέρας περιετμήθη Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἱσμαὴλ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ· ²⁷ And all the men𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 of his house,𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 born𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤃 in the house,𐤁𐤉𐤕 and bought𐤅𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤕 with money𐤊𐤎𐤐 of the stranger,𐤁𐤍 𐤍𐤊𐤓 were circumcised𐤍𐤌𐤋𐤅 with him. καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ οἰκογενεῖς καὶ οἱ ἀργυρώνητοι ἐξ ἀλλοἐθνῶν, περιέτεμεν αὐτούς.
