Chapter 30 ¹ And when Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 saw𐤅𐤕𐤓𐤀 that she bare𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 no children, Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 envied𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤍𐤀 her sister;𐤁𐤀𐤇𐤕𐤄 and said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Give𐤄𐤁𐤄 me children,𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 or else𐤀𐤉𐤍 I die.𐤌𐤕𐤄 Ἰδοῦσα δὲ Ῥαχὴλ ὅτι οὐ τέτοκεν τῷ Ἰακώβ, καὶ ἐζήλωσεν Ῥαχὴλ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῆς, καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ἰακωβ Δός μοι τέκνα· εἰ δὲ μή, τελευτήσω ἐγώ. ² And Jacob's𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 anger𐤀𐤐 was kindled𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤓 against Rachel:𐤁𐤓𐤇𐤋 and he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Am I in God's𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 stead, who hath withheld𐤌𐤍𐤏 from thee the fruit𐤐𐤓𐤉 of the womb?𐤁𐤈𐤍 ἐθυμώθη δὲ Ἰακὼβ τῇ Ῥαχὴλ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Μῆ ἀντὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγώ εἰμι, ὃς ἐστέρησέν σε καρπὸν κοιλίας ; ³ And she said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold my maid𐤀𐤌𐤕𐤉 Bilhah,𐤁𐤋𐤄𐤄 go in𐤁𐤀 unto her; and she shall bear𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 upon my knees,𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤉 that I may also have children𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤍𐤄 by her. εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχὴλ τῷ Ἰακώβ Ἴδου ἡ παιδίσκη μου Βάλλα, εἴσελθε πρὸς καὶ τέξεται ἐπὶ τῶν γονάτων μου, ἵνα τεκνοποιήσωμαι κἀγὼ ἐξ αὐτῆς. ⁴ And she gave𐤅𐤕𐤕𐤍 him Bilhah𐤁𐤋𐤄𐤄 her handmaid𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕𐤄 to wife:𐤋𐤀𐤔𐤄 and Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 went in𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 unto her. καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Βάλλαν τὴν παιδίσκην κἠν αὐτῆς αὐτῷ γυναῖκα, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Ἰακώβ· ⁵ And Bilhah𐤁𐤋𐤄𐤄 conceived,𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓 and bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 a son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ συνέλαβεν Βάλλα ἡ παιδίσκη Ραχήλ καὶ ἔτεκεν τῷ Ἰακὼβ υἱόν. ⁶ And Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath judged𐤃𐤍𐤍𐤉 me, and hath also heard𐤔𐤌𐤏 my voice,𐤁𐤒𐤋𐤉 and hath given𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 me a son:𐤁𐤍 therefore called𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤄 she his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Dan.𐤃𐤍 καὶ εἶπεν Ῥαχήλ Ἔκρινέν μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἐπήκουσεν τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι υἱόν. διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Δάν. ⁷ And Bilhah𐤁𐤋𐤄𐤄 Rachel's𐤓𐤇𐤋 maid𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕 conceived𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓 again, and bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 a second𐤔𐤍𐤉 son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ συνέλαβεν ἔτι Βάλλα ἡ παιδίσκη ὴλ καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν δεύτερον τῷ Ἰακώβ. ⁸ And Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 With great𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 wrestlings𐤍𐤐𐤕𐤅𐤋𐤉 have I wrestled𐤍𐤐𐤕𐤋𐤕𐤉 with my sister,𐤀𐤇𐤕𐤉 and I have prevailed:𐤉𐤊𐤋𐤕𐤉 and she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Naphtali.𐤍𐤐𐤕𐤋𐤉 καὶ εἶπεν Ῥαχήλ Συνεὁ θεός, καὶ συνανεστράφην τῇ ἀδελφῇ μου, καὶ ἠδυνάσθην. τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Νεφθαλεί. ⁹ When Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 saw𐤅𐤕𐤓𐤀 that she had left𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤄 bearing,𐤌𐤋𐤃𐤕 she took𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤇 Zilpah𐤆𐤋𐤐𐤄 her maid,𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕𐤄 and gave𐤅𐤕𐤕𐤍 her Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 to wife.𐤋𐤀𐤔𐤄 ἴδεν δὲ Λεία ὅτι ἔστη τοῦ τίκτειν, καὶ ἔλαβεν Ζέλφαν τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτῆς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν Ιακὼβ γυναῖκα. ¹⁰ And Zilpah𐤆𐤋𐤐𐤄 Leah's𐤋𐤀𐤄 maid𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕 bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 a son.𐤁𐤍 εἰσῆλθεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὴν Ἰακώβ· καὶ συνέλαβεν Ζέλφα ἡ παιδίσκη Λείας καὶ ἔτεκεν τῶ Ἰακὼβ υἱόν. ¹¹ And Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 A troop cometh:𐤁𐤀𐤂𐤃 and she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Gad.𐤂𐤃 καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Εν τύχῃ· καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Γάδ. ¹² And Zilpah𐤆𐤋𐤐𐤄 Leah's𐤋𐤀𐤄 maid𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕 bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 a second𐤔𐤍𐤉 son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ συνέλαβεν ἔτι Ζέλφα ἡ παιδίσκη λείας καὶ ἔτεκεν ἔτι τῷ Ἰακὼβ υἱὸν ¹³ And Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 Happy am I,𐤁𐤀𐤔𐤓𐤉 for the daughters𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 will call me blessed:𐤀𐤔𐤓𐤅𐤍𐤉 and she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Asher.𐤀𐤔𐤓 καὶ εἶπεν λεία Μακαρία ἐγώ, ὅτι μακαρίζουσίν με πᾶσαι αἱ γυναῖκες· κα ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἀσήρ. ¹⁴ And Reuben𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤁𐤍 went in the days𐤁𐤉𐤌𐤉 of wheat𐤇𐤈𐤉𐤌 harvest,𐤒𐤑𐤉𐤓 and found𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤑𐤀 mandrakes𐤃𐤅𐤃𐤀𐤉𐤌 in the field,𐤁𐤔𐤃𐤄 and brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 them unto his mother𐤀𐤌𐤅 Leah.𐤋𐤀𐤄 Then Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Leah,𐤋𐤀𐤄 Give me,𐤕𐤍𐤉 I pray thee, of thy son's𐤁𐤍𐤊 mandrakes.𐤌𐤃𐤅𐤃𐤀𐤉 ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ῥουβὴν ἐν ἡμέραις θερισμοῦ πυρῶν καὶ εὗρεν μῆλα μανδραγόρου ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, καὶ ἤνεγκεν αὐτὰ πρὸς Λείαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ. εἶπεν δὲ Ραχὴλ τῇ Λείᾳ Δός μοι τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου. ¹⁵ And she said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto her, Is it a small matter𐤄𐤌𐤏𐤈 that thou hast taken𐤒𐤇𐤕𐤊 my husband?𐤀𐤉𐤔𐤉 and wouldest thou take away𐤅𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕 my son's𐤁𐤍𐤉 mandrakes𐤃𐤅𐤃𐤀𐤉 also? And Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 Therefore he shall lie𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤁 with thee to night𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 for𐤕𐤇𐤕 thy son's𐤁𐤍𐤊 mandrakes.𐤃𐤅𐤃𐤀𐤉 εἶπεν δὲ Λεία οὐχ ἱκανόν σοι ὅτι ἔλαβες τὸν ἄνδρα μου ; μὴ καὶ τοὺς μανδραγόρας τοῦ υἱοῦ μου λήμψῃ; εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχήλ οὐχ οὕτως· κοίμηθήτω μετὰ σοῦ τὴν νύκτα ταύτην ἀντὶ τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου. ¹⁶ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 out of the field𐤄𐤔𐤃𐤄 in the evening,𐤁𐤏𐤓𐤁 and Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 went out𐤅𐤕𐤑𐤀 to meet him, and said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 Thou must come in𐤕𐤁𐤅𐤀 unto me; for surely𐤔𐤊𐤓 I have hired𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉𐤊 thee with my son's𐤁𐤍𐤉 mandrakes.𐤁𐤃𐤅𐤃𐤀𐤉 And he lay𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤁 with her that night.𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 εἰσῆλθεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἐξ ἀγροῦ ἑσπέρας, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Λεία εἰς συνάναὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν Πρὸς ἐμὲ εἰσελεύσῃ σήμερον· μεμίσθωμαι γάρ σε ἀντὶ τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ μου· καὶ ἐκοιμήθη μετ’ αὐτῆς τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην. ¹⁷ And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hearkened𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏 unto Leah,𐤋𐤀𐤄 and she conceived,𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓 and bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 the fifth𐤇𐤌𐤉𐤔𐤉 son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτῆς ὁ θεός, καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν τῷ Ἰακὼβ υἱὸν πέμπτον. ¹⁸ And Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath given𐤍𐤕𐤍 me my hire,𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤉 because𐤀𐤔𐤓 I have given𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 my maiden𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕𐤉 to my husband:𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤔𐤉 and she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Issachar.𐤉𐤔𐤔𐤊𐤓 καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Δέδωκέν μοι ὁ θεὸς τὸν μισθόν μου ἀνθ’ ὧν ἔδωκα τὴν παιδίσκην μου τῷ ἀνδρί μου· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰσσαχάρ, ὅ ἐστιν Μισθός. ¹⁹ And Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 conceived𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓 again, and bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 the sixth𐤔𐤔𐤉 son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ συνέλαβεν ἔτι Λεία καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν ἕκτον τῷ Ἰακώβ. ²⁰ And Leah𐤋𐤀𐤄 said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath endued𐤆𐤁𐤃𐤍𐤉 me with a good𐤈𐤅𐤁 dowry;𐤆𐤁𐤃 now𐤄𐤐𐤏𐤌 will my husband𐤀𐤉𐤔𐤉 dwell𐤉𐤆𐤁𐤋𐤍𐤉 with me, because I have born𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤉 him six𐤔𐤔𐤄 sons:𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 and she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Zebulun.𐤆𐤁𐤋𐤅𐤍 καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Δεδώρηται ὁ θεός μοι δῶρον καλόν· ἐν τῷ νῦν καιρῷ αἱρετιεῖ με ὁ ἀνήρ μου, τέτοκα γὰρ αὐτῷ υἱοὺς ἕξ· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ζαβουλών. ²¹ And afterwards𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤓 she bare𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 a daughter,𐤁𐤕 and called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 her name𐤔𐤌𐤄 Dinah.𐤃𐤉𐤍𐤄 καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ἔτεκεν θυγατέρα, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Δεινά. καὶ ἔστη τοῦ τίκτειν. ²² And God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 remembered𐤅𐤉𐤆𐤊𐤓 Rachel,𐤓𐤇𐤋 and God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hearkened𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤏 to her, and opened𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤕𐤇 her womb.𐤓𐤇𐤌𐤄 ἐμνήσθη δὲ ὁ θεὸς Ῥαχήλ· καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτῆς ὁ θεός, καὶ ἀνέῳξεν αὐτῆς τὴν μήτραν· ²³ And she conceived,𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓 and bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 a son;𐤁𐤍 and said,𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 hath taken away𐤀𐤎𐤐 my reproach:𐤇𐤓𐤐𐤕𐤉 καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν Ἰακὼβ υἱόν. εἶπεν δὲ Ραχήλ Ἀφεῖλεν ὁ θεός μου τὸ ὄνειδος· ²⁴ And she called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Joseph;𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 and said,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 The Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 shall add𐤉𐤎𐤐 to me another𐤀𐤇𐤓 son.𐤁𐤍 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰωσὴφ λέγουσα Προσθέτω ὁ θεός μοι υἱὸν ρον. ²⁵ And it came to pass, when Rachel𐤓𐤇𐤋 had born𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 Joseph,𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 that Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Laban,𐤋𐤁𐤍 Send me away,𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤍𐤉 that I may go unto mine own place,𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤉 and to my country.𐤅𐤋𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤉 Ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ἔτεκεν Ῥαχὴλ τὸν ἸωσήΦ, εἶπεν Ἰακὼβ Λαβάν Ἁπόστειλόν με ἵνα ἀπέλθω εἰς τὸν τόπον μου καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν μου. ²⁶ Give𐤕𐤍𐤄 me my wives𐤍𐤔𐤉 and my children,𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉 for whom I have served𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉 thee, and let me go: for thou knowest𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕 my service𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉 which I have done𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉𐤊 thee. ἀπόδος μοι τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ παιδία, περὶ ὧν σοι, ἵνα ἀπέλθω· σὺ γὰρ γινώσκεις τὴν δουλίαν ἣν δεδούλευκά σοι. ²⁷ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, I pray thee, if I have found𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤕𐤉 favour𐤇𐤍 in thine eyes,𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤊 tarry: for I have learned by experience𐤍𐤇𐤔𐤕𐤉 that the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hath blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤍𐤉 me for thy sake.𐤁𐤂𐤋𐤋𐤊 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Λαβάν Εἰ εὗρον χάριν ἐναντίον σου, οἰωνισάμην ἄν· εὐλόγησεν γάρ με ὁ θεὸς τῇ σῇ εἰσόδῳ. ²⁸ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Appoint𐤍𐤒𐤁𐤄 me thy wages,𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤊 and I will give𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤄 it. διάστειλον τὸν μισθόν σου πρὸς μέ, καὶ δώσω σοι. ²⁹ And he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Thou knowest𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕 how𐤀𐤔𐤓 I have served𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤉𐤊 thee, and how𐤀𐤔𐤓 thy cattle𐤌𐤒𐤍𐤊 was with me. εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἰακώβ Σὺ γινώσκεις δεδούλευκά σοι, καὶ ὅσα ἦν κτήνη σου μετ’ ἐμοῦ. ³⁰ For it was little𐤌𐤏𐤈 which thou hadst before I𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 came, and it is now increased𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤓𐤑 unto a multitude;𐤋𐤓𐤁 and the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hath blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊 thee since my coming:𐤋𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉 and now when𐤌𐤕𐤉 shall I provide𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤄 for mine own house𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤉 also? μικρὰ γὰρ ἦν ἦν ἐναντίον μου, καὶ ηὐξήθη εἰς πλῆθος· καὶ ηὐλόγησέν σε Κύριος ἐπὶ τῷ ποδί μου. νῦν οὖν πότε ποιήσω κἀγὼ ἐμαυτῷ οἶκον ; ³¹ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 What shall I give thee?𐤀𐤕𐤍 And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Thou shalt not give𐤕𐤕𐤍 me any thing:𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤄 if thou wilt do𐤕𐤏𐤔𐤄 this thing𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓 for me, I will again𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤄 feed𐤀𐤓𐤏𐤄 and keep𐤀𐤔𐤌𐤓 thy flock:𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤊 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Λαβάν Τί σοι δώσω; εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἰακώβ Οὐ δώσεις μοι οὐθέν· ἐὰν ποιήσεις μοι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο, πάλιν ποιμανῶ τὰ πρόβατά σου καὶ φυλάξω. ³² I will pass𐤀𐤏𐤁𐤓 through all thy flock𐤑𐤀𐤍𐤊 to day,𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 removing𐤄𐤎𐤓 from thence all the speckled𐤍𐤒𐤃 and spotted𐤅𐤈𐤋𐤅𐤀 cattle,𐤔𐤄 and all the brown𐤇𐤅𐤌 cattle𐤔𐤄 among the sheep,𐤁𐤊𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤌 and the spotted𐤅𐤈𐤋𐤅𐤀 and speckled𐤅𐤍𐤒𐤃 among the goats:𐤁𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 and of such shall be my hire.𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤉 παρελθάτω τὰ πρόβατά σου σήμερον, καὶ ἐκεῖθεν πᾶν πρόβατον φαιὸν ἐν τοῖς ἄρνασιν καὶ πᾶν διάραντον καὶ λευκὸν ἐν ταῖς αἰξίν· ἱστᾶι μοι μισθός. ³³ So shall my righteousness𐤑𐤃𐤒𐤕𐤉 answer𐤅𐤏𐤍𐤕𐤄 for me in time𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 to come,𐤌𐤇𐤓 when it shall come𐤕𐤁𐤅𐤀 for my hire𐤔𐤊𐤓𐤉 before thy face:𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 every one𐤊𐤋 that is not speckled𐤍𐤒𐤃 and spotted𐤅𐤈𐤋𐤅𐤀 among the goats,𐤁𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 and brown𐤅𐤇𐤅𐤌 among the sheep,𐤁𐤊𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤌 that shall be counted stolen𐤂𐤍𐤅𐤁 with me. καὶ ἐπακούσεταί μοι ἡ δικαιοσύνη μου ἐν τῆ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ αὔριον, ὅτι ἐστὶν ὁ μισθός μου ἐνώπιόν σου· πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ ῥαντὸν καὶ διάλευκον ἐν ταῖς αἰξὶν καὶ φαιὸν ἐν τοῖς ἄρνασιν, κεκλεμμένον ἔσται παρ’ ἐμοί. ³⁴ And Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold, I would it might be𐤋𐤅 according to thy word.𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤊 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Λαβόν κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου. ³⁵ And he removed𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤓 that day𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 the he goats𐤄𐤕𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤌 that were ringstraked𐤄𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 and spotted,𐤅𐤄𐤈𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤌 and all the she goats𐤄𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 that were speckled𐤄𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤅𐤕 and spotted,𐤅𐤄𐤈𐤋𐤀𐤕 and every one that had some white𐤋𐤁𐤍 in it, and all the brown𐤇𐤅𐤌 among the sheep,𐤁𐤊𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤌 and gave𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 them into the hand𐤁𐤉𐤃 of his sons.𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤅 καὶ διέστειλεν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τοὺς τράγους τοὺς ῥαντοὺς καὶ τοὺς διαλεύκους, καὶ πάσας τὰς αἶγας τὰς ῥαντὰς καὶ τὰς διαλεύκους, καὶ πᾶν ὃ ἦν λευκὸν ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ πᾶν ὃ ἦν φαιὸν ἐν τοῖς ἄρνασιν, καὶ ἔδωκεν διὰ χειρὸς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ. ³⁶ And he set𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌 three𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤕 days'𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 journey𐤃𐤓𐤊 betwixt himself and Jacob:𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 and Jacob𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 fed𐤓𐤏𐤄 the rest𐤄𐤍𐤅𐤕𐤓𐤕 of Laban's𐤋𐤁𐤍 flocks.𐤑𐤀𐤍 καὶ ἀπέστησεν ὁδὸν τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ἰακώβ· Ἰακὼβ δὲ ἐποίμαινεν τὰ πρόβατα Λαβὰν τὰ ὑπολειφθέντα. ³⁷ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 him rods𐤌𐤒𐤋 of green𐤋𐤇 poplar,𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤄 and of the hazel𐤅𐤋𐤅𐤆 and chesnut tree;𐤅𐤏𐤓𐤌𐤅𐤍 and pilled𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤑𐤋 white𐤋𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 strakes𐤐𐤑𐤋𐤅𐤕 in them, and made the white𐤄𐤋𐤁𐤍 appear𐤌𐤇𐤔𐤐 which was in the rods.𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕 ἔλαβεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἰακὼβ ῥάβδον στυρακίνην χλωρὰν καὶ καρυίνην καὶ πλατάνου, καὶ ἐλέπισεν αὐτὰς Ἰακὼβ λεπίσματα λευκά, περισύρων τὸ χλωρόν· ἐφαίνετο δὲ ἐπὶ ταῖς ῥάβδοις τὸ λευκὸν ὃ ἐλέπισεν ποικίλον. ³⁸ And he set𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤂 the rods𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕 which he had pilled𐤐𐤑𐤋 before𐤋𐤍𐤊𐤇 the flocks𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 in the gutters𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤈𐤉𐤌 in the watering𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌 troughs𐤁𐤔𐤒𐤕𐤅𐤕 when the flocks𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 came𐤕𐤁𐤀𐤍 to drink,𐤋𐤔𐤕𐤅𐤕 that they should conceive𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤌𐤍𐤄 when they came𐤁𐤁𐤀𐤍 to drink.𐤋𐤔𐤕𐤅𐤕 καὶ παρέθηκεν τὰς ῥάβδους ἃς ἐλέπισεν ἐν ταῖς ληνοῖς τῶν τοῦ ὕδατος, ἵνα ὡς ἄν ἔλθωσιν τὰ πρόβατα πιεῖν, ἐνώπιον τῶν καὶ ἐλθόντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πιεῖν, ἐνκισσήσωσιν τὰ πρόβατα εἰς τὰς ῥάβδους. ³⁹ And the flocks𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 conceived𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤌𐤅 before the rods,𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕 and brought forth𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃𐤍 cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 ringstraked,𐤏𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 speckled,𐤍𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 and spotted.𐤅𐤈𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤌 καὶ ἔτικτον τὰ πρόβατα διάλευκα καὶ ποικίλα καὶ σποδοειδῆ ῥαντά. ⁴⁰ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 did separate𐤄𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤃 the lambs,𐤅𐤄𐤊𐤔𐤁𐤉𐤌 and set𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 the faces𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the flocks𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 toward𐤀𐤋 the ringstraked,𐤏𐤒𐤃 and all the brown𐤇𐤅𐤌 in the flock𐤁𐤑𐤀𐤍 of Laban;𐤋𐤁𐤍 and he put𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕 his own flocks𐤏𐤃𐤓𐤉𐤌 by themselves, and put𐤔𐤕𐤌 them not unto Laban's𐤋𐤁𐤍 cattle.𐤑𐤀𐤍 τοὺς δὲ ἀμνοὺς διέστειλεν Ἰακώβ, καὶ ἔστησεν ἔναν. τίον τῶν προβάτων κριὸν διάλευκον καὶ πᾶν ποικίλον ἐν τοῖς ἀμνοῖς· καὶ διεχώρισεν ἑαυτῷ ποίμνια καθ’ ἑαυτόν, καὶ οὐκ ἔμιξεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα Λαβάν. ⁴¹ And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤔𐤓𐤅𐤕 cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 did conceive,𐤉𐤇𐤌 that Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 laid𐤅𐤔𐤌 the rods𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕 before the eyes𐤋𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 of the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 in the gutters,𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤈𐤉𐤌 that they might conceive𐤋𐤉𐤇𐤌𐤍𐤄 among the rods.𐤁𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ᾧ ἐνεκίσσων τὰ πρόβατα ἐν γαστρὶ λαμβάνοντα, ἔθηκεν Ἰακὼβ τὰς ῥάβδους ἐναντίον τῶν προβάτων ἐν ταῖς ληνοῖς, τοῦ ἐνκισσῆαι αὐτὰ κατὰ τὰς ῥάβδους· ⁴² But when the cattle𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 were feeble,𐤅𐤁𐤄𐤏𐤈𐤉𐤐 he put them not in:𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤌 so the feebler𐤄𐤏𐤈𐤐𐤉𐤌 were Laban's,𐤋𐤋𐤁𐤍 and the stronger𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 Jacob's.𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 ἡνίκα γὰρ ἔτεκον τὰ πρόβατα, οὐκ ἐτίθει· ἐγένετο δὲ τὰ ἄσημα τοῦ Λαβάν, τὰ δὲ ἐπίσημα τοῦ Ἰακώβ. ⁴³ And the man𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤔 increased𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤓𐤑 exceedingly,𐤌𐤀𐤃 𐤌𐤀𐤃 and had much𐤓𐤁𐤅𐤕 cattle,𐤑𐤀𐤍 and maidservants,𐤅𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤅𐤕 and menservants,𐤅𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 and camels,𐤅𐤂𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤌 and asses.𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 καὶ ἐπλούτησεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος σφόδρα σφόδρα· καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ κτήνη πολλὰ καὶ βόες καὶ παῖδες καὶ παιδίσκοι καὶ κάμηλοι καὶ ὄνοι.
