Chapter 19 ¹ And there came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀𐤅 two𐤔𐤍𐤉 angels𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤉𐤌 to Sodom𐤎𐤃𐤌𐤄 at even;𐤁𐤏𐤓𐤁 and Lot𐤅𐤋𐤅𐤈 sat𐤉𐤔𐤁 in the gate𐤁𐤔𐤏𐤓 of Sodom:𐤎𐤃𐤌 and Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 seeing𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 them rose up𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌 to meet them; and he bowed𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅 himself with his face𐤀𐤐𐤉𐤌 toward the ground;𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 Ἤλθον δὲ οἱ δύο ἄγγελοι εἰς Σόδομα ἑσπέρας· Λὼτ δὲ ἐκάθητο παρὰ τὴν πύλην Σοδόμων. ἰδὼν δὲ Λὼτ ἀνέστη εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς, καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ προσώπῳ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν· ² And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold now, my lords,𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 turn in,𐤎𐤅𐤓𐤅 I pray you, into your servant's𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊𐤌 house,𐤁𐤉𐤕 and tarry all night,𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤍𐤅 and wash𐤅𐤓𐤇𐤑𐤅 your feet,𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤊𐤌 and ye shall rise up early,𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤊𐤌𐤕𐤌 and go𐤅𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕𐤌 on your ways.𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤊𐤌 And they said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 Nay; but we will abide𐤍𐤋𐤉𐤍 in the street𐤁𐤓𐤇𐤅𐤁 all night. καὶ εἶπεν ἰδού, κύριοι, ἐκκλίνατε πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ παιδὸς ὑμῶν καὶ καταλύσατε, καὶ νίψατε τοὺς πόδας ὑμῶν, καὶ ὀρθρίσαντες ἀπελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῶν. εἶπαν δέ οὐχί, ἀλλ’ ἢ ἐν τῇ πλατείᾳ καταλύσοαεν. ³ And he pressed𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤑𐤓 upon them greatly;𐤌𐤀𐤃 and they turned in𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤓𐤅 unto him, and entered𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀𐤅 into his house;𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅 and he made𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤔 them a feast,𐤌𐤔𐤕𐤄 and did bake𐤀𐤐𐤄 unleavened bread,𐤅𐤌𐤑𐤅𐤕 and they did eat.𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 καὶ παρεβιόζετο αὐτούς, καὶ ἐξέκλιναν πρὸς αὐτόν. καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτοῖς πότον καὶ ἀζύμους ἒπεψεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἔφαγον ωρὸ τοῦ κοιμηθῆναι. ⁴ But before they lay down,𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤅 the men𐤅𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 of the city,𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 even the men𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 of Sodom,𐤎𐤃𐤌 compassed𐤍𐤎𐤁𐤅 the house𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 round, both old𐤆𐤒𐤍 and young,𐤌𐤍𐤏𐤓 all the people𐤄𐤏𐤌 from every quarter:𐤌𐤒𐤑𐤄 καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς πόλεως οἱ Σοδομεῖται περιεκύκλωσαν τὴν οἰκίαν ἀπὸ νεανίσκου ἕως πρεσβυτέρου, ἅπας ὁ λαὸς ἅμα. ⁵ And they called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤅 unto Lot,𐤋𐤅𐤈 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 unto him, Where are the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 which came in𐤁𐤀𐤅 to thee this night?𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 bring them out𐤄𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤀𐤌 unto us, that we may know𐤅𐤍𐤃𐤏𐤄 them. καὶ ἐξεκαλοῦντο τὸν Λώτ, καὶ ἔλεγον πρὸς αὐτόν Ποῦ εἰσιν οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ εἰσελθόντες πρὸς σὲ τὴν νύκτα; ἐξάγαγε αὐτοὺς πρὸς ἡμᾶς, ἵνα συγγενώμεθα αὐτοῖς. ⁶ And Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 went out𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 at the door𐤄𐤐𐤕𐤇𐤄 unto them, and shut𐤎𐤂𐤓 the door𐤅𐤄𐤃𐤋𐤕 after him,𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤅 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Λὼτ πρὸς αὐτούς, καὶ τὴν θύραν προσέῳξεν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ. ⁷ And said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 I pray you, brethren,𐤀𐤇𐤉 do not so wickedly.𐤕𐤓𐤏𐤅 εἰπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς Μηδαμῶς, ἀδελφοί, μὴ πονηρεύσησθε. ⁸ Behold now, I have two𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 which have not known𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤅 man;𐤀𐤉𐤔 let me, I pray you, bring them out𐤀𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤀𐤄 unto you, and do𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤅 ye to them as is good𐤊𐤈𐤅𐤁 in your eyes:𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤊𐤌 only unto these𐤄𐤀𐤋 men𐤋𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 do𐤕𐤏𐤔𐤅 nothing;𐤀𐤋 𐤃𐤁𐤓 for therefore came𐤁𐤀𐤅 they under the shadow𐤁𐤑𐤋 of my roof.𐤒𐤓𐤕𐤉 εἰσὶν δέ μοι δύο θυγατέρες, αἰ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ἄνδρα· ἐξάξω αὐτὰς πρὸς ὑμᾶς, καὶ χρήσασθε αὐταῖς καθὰ ἀρέσκῃ ὑμῖν· μόνον εἰς τοὺς ἄνδρας τούτους μὴ ποιήσητε μηδὲν ἄδικον, οὗ εἵνεκεν εἰσῆλθον ὑπὸ τὴν στέγην τῶν δοκῶν μου. ⁹ And they said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 Stand𐤂𐤔 back.𐤄𐤋𐤀𐤄 And they said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 again, This one𐤄𐤀𐤇𐤃 fellow came in𐤁𐤀 to sojourn,𐤋𐤂𐤅𐤓 and he will needs𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤐𐤈 be a judge:𐤔𐤐𐤅𐤈 now will we deal worse𐤍𐤓𐤏 with thee, than with them. And they pressed𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤑𐤓𐤅 sore𐤌𐤀𐤃 upon the man,𐤁𐤀𐤉𐤔 even Lot,𐤁𐤋𐤅𐤈 and came near𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔𐤅 to break𐤋𐤔𐤁𐤓 the door.𐤄𐤃𐤋𐤕 εἶπαν δέ Ἀπόστα ἐκεῖ· εἰσῆλθες παροικεῖν, μὴ καὶ κρίσιν κμῖναι; νῦν οὑν σὲ κακώσομεν μᾶλλον ἢ καὶ παρεβιάζοντο τὸν ἄνδρα τὸν Λὼτ σφόδρα, καὶ ἤισαν τὴν θύραν. ¹⁰ But the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 put forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤅 their hand,𐤉𐤃𐤌 and pulled𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤅 Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 into the house𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤄 to them, and shut𐤎𐤂𐤓𐤅 to the door.𐤄𐤃𐤋𐤕 ἐκτείναντες δὲ οἱ ἄνδρες τὰς χεῖρας εἰσεσπάσαντο τὸν Λὼτ πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς εἰς τὸν οἶκον, καὶ τὴν θύραν τοῦ οἴκου ἀπέκλεισαν· ¹¹ And they smote𐤄𐤊𐤅 the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 that were at the door𐤐𐤕𐤇 of the house𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 with blindness,𐤁𐤎𐤍𐤅𐤓𐤉𐤌 both small𐤌𐤒𐤈𐤍 and great:𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 so that they wearied𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤀𐤅 themselves to find𐤋𐤌𐤑𐤀 the door.𐤄𐤐𐤕𐤇 τοὺς δὲ ἄνδρας τοὺς ὄντας ἐπὶ τῆς θύρας τοῦ οἴκου ἐπάταξαν ἀορασίᾳ, ἀπὸ μικροῦ ἕως μεγάλου· καὶ παρελύθησαν ζητοῦντες τὴν θύραν. ¹² And the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 unto Lot,𐤋𐤅𐤈 Hast thou here𐤐𐤄 any𐤌𐤉 besides? son in law,𐤇𐤕𐤍 and thy sons,𐤅𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤊 and thy daughters,𐤅𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤊 and whatsoever𐤀𐤔𐤓 thou hast in the city,𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤓 bring them out𐤄𐤅𐤑𐤀 of this place:𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 εἶπαν δὲ οἱ ἄνδρες πρὸς Λώτ Ἔστιν τίς σοι ὧδε, γαμβροὶ ἢ υἱοὶ ἢ θυγατέρες, ἢ εἴ τίς σοι ἅλλος ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ πόλει, ἐξάγαγε ἐκ τοῦ τόπου τούτου· ¹³ For we𐤀𐤍𐤇𐤍𐤅 will destroy𐤌𐤔𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤌 𐤀𐤕 this place,𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 because the cry of them𐤑𐤏𐤒𐤕𐤌 is waxen great𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤄 before𐤀𐤕 the face𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the Lord;𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hath sent𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤍𐤅 us to destroy𐤋𐤔𐤇𐤕𐤄 it. ὅτι ἀπόλλυμεν ἡμεῖς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον, ὅτι ὑψώθη ἡ κραυγὴ αὐτῶν ἐναντίον κυρίου, καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ἡμᾶς κύριος ἐκτρίψαι αὐτήν. ¹⁴ And Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 went out,𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀 and spake𐤅𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto his sons in law,𐤇𐤕𐤍𐤉𐤅 which married𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤉 his daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤅 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Up,𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤅 get you out𐤑𐤀𐤅 of this place;𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 for the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 will destroy𐤌𐤔𐤇𐤉𐤕 this city.𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 But he seemed as one that mocked𐤊𐤌𐤑𐤇𐤒 unto𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 his sons in law.𐤇𐤕𐤍𐤉𐤅 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Λὼτ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς τοὺς γαμβροὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς εἰληφότας τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἶπεν Ἀνάστητε καὶ ἐξέλθατε ἐκ τοῦ τόπου τούτου, ὅτι ἐκτρίβει Κύριος τὴν πόλιν. ἔδοξεν δὲ γελοιάζειν ἐναντίον τῶν γαμβρῶν αὐτοῦ. ¹⁵ And when𐤅𐤊𐤌𐤅 the morning𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤓 arose,𐤏𐤋𐤄 then the angels𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤉𐤌 hastened𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤉𐤑𐤅 Lot,𐤁𐤋𐤅𐤈 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Arise,𐤒𐤅𐤌 take𐤒𐤇 thy wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤊 and thy two𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters,𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤊 which are here;𐤄𐤍𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤕 lest thou be consumed𐤕𐤎𐤐𐤄 in the iniquity𐤁𐤏𐤅𐤍 of the city.𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 ἡνίκα δὲ ὄρθρος ἐγίνετο, ἐπεσπούδαζον οἱ ἄγγελοι τὸν Λὼτ λέγοντες Ἀναστὰς λάβε τὴν γυναῖκά σου καὶ τὰς δύο θυγατέρας σου ἅς ἔχεις καὶ ἔξελθε, ἵν συναπόλῃ ταῖς ἀνομίαις τῆς πόλεως. ¹⁶ And while he lingered,𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤌𐤄𐤌𐤄 the men𐤄𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 laid hold𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤆𐤒𐤅 upon his hand,𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤅 and upon the hand𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤃 of his wife,𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 and upon the hand𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤃 of his two𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters;𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤅 the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 being merciful𐤁𐤇𐤌𐤋𐤕 unto him: and they brought him forth,𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤄𐤅 and set him without𐤌𐤇𐤅𐤑 the city.𐤋𐤏𐤉𐤓 καὶ ἐταράχθησαν· καὶ ἑ τησαν οἱ ἄγγελοι τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν καὶ τῆς χειρὸς τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν χειρῶν τῶν δύο θυγατέρων αὐτοῦ, ἐν τῷ φείσασθαι κύριον ¹⁷ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth𐤊𐤄𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤀𐤌 abroad,𐤄𐤇𐤅𐤑𐤄 that he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Escape𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤈 for𐤏𐤋 thy life;𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤊 look𐤕𐤁𐤉𐤈 not behind thee,𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤊 neither stay𐤕𐤏𐤌𐤃 thou in all the plain;𐤄𐤊𐤊𐤓 escape𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤈 to the mountain,𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤄 lest thou be consumed.𐤕𐤎𐤐𐤄 καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἐξήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἔξω καὶ εἶπαν Σώζων ν σεαυτοῦ ψυχήν· μὴ περιβλέψῃς εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω μηδὲ στῇς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ περιχώρῳ· εἰς τὸ ὄρος σώζου, μή ποτε δυνπαραλημφθῇς. ¹⁸ And Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: εἶπεν δὲ Λὼτ πρὸς αὐτούς Δέομαι, κύριε, ¹⁹ Behold now, thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 hath found𐤌𐤑𐤀 grace𐤇𐤍 in thy sight,𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤊 and thou hast magnified𐤅𐤕𐤂𐤃𐤋 thy mercy,𐤇𐤎𐤃𐤊 which thou hast shewed𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 unto me𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤉 in saving𐤋𐤄𐤇𐤉𐤅𐤕 my life;𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 and I cannot𐤀𐤅𐤊𐤋 escape𐤋𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤈 to the mountain,𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤄 lest some evil𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤄 take𐤕𐤃𐤁𐤒𐤍𐤉 me, and I die:𐤅𐤌𐤕𐤉 ἐπειδὴ εἶπεν ὁ παῖς σου ἔλεος ἐναντίον σου καὶ ἐμεγάλυνας τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου, ὁ ποιεῖς ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τοῦ ζῆν τὴν ψυχήν μου· ἐγὼ δὲ οὐ δυνήσομαι διασωθῆναι εἰς τὸ ὄρος, μὴ καταλάβῃ με τὰ κακὰ καὶ ἀποθάνω· ²⁰ Behold now, this city𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 is near𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤄 to flee𐤋𐤍𐤅𐤎 unto, and it𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤀 is a little one:𐤌𐤑𐤏𐤓 Oh, let me escape𐤀𐤌𐤋𐤈𐤄 thither, (is it not a little one?)𐤌𐤑𐤏𐤓 and my soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 shall live.𐤅𐤕𐤇𐤉 ἰδοὺ ἡ πόλις αὕτη ἐγγὺς τοῦ καταφυγεῖν με ἐκεῖ, ἥ ἐστιν μικρά· ἐκεῖ σωθήσομαι· οὐ μικρά ἐστιν ; καὶ ζήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου ἕνεκεν σοῦ. ²¹ And he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, See,𐤄𐤍𐤄 I have accepted𐤍𐤔𐤀𐤕𐤉 thee𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 concerning this thing𐤋𐤃𐤁𐤓 also, that I will not overthrow𐤄𐤐𐤊𐤉 this city,𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 for the which𐤀𐤔𐤓 thou hast spoken.𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤕 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἴδου ἐθαύμασά σου τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ ῥήματι τούτῳ τοῦ μὴ καταστρέψαι τὴν πόλιν περὶ ἧς ἐλάλησας· ²² Haste𐤌𐤄𐤓 thee, escape𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤈 thither; for I cannot𐤀𐤅𐤊𐤋 do𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 any thing𐤃𐤁𐤓 till thou be come𐤁𐤀𐤊 thither. Therefore the name𐤔𐤌 of the city𐤄𐤏𐤉𐤓 was called𐤒𐤓𐤀 Zoar.𐤑𐤅𐤏𐤓 σπεῦσου οὖν τοῦ σωθῆναι ἐκεῖ· οὐ γὰρ δυνήσομαι ποιῆσαι πρᾶγμα ἕως τοῦ σε ἐλθεῖν ἐκεῖ. διὰ τοῦτο ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης Σήγωρ. ²³ The sun𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤔 was risen𐤉𐤑𐤀 upon the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 when Lot𐤅𐤋𐤅𐤈 entered𐤁𐤀 into Zoar.𐤑𐤏𐤓𐤄 ὁ ἥλιος ἐξῆλθεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ Λὼτ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Σήγωρ, ²⁴ Then the Lord𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 rained𐤄𐤌𐤈𐤉𐤓 upon Sodom𐤎𐤃𐤌 and upon Gomorrah𐤏𐤌𐤓𐤄 brimstone𐤂𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤕 and fire𐤅𐤀𐤔 from the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 out of heaven;𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 καὶ κύριος ἔβρεξεν ἐπὶ Σόδομα καὶ Γόμορρα θεῖον καὶ πῦρ παρὰ κυρίου ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ²⁵ And he overthrew𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤐𐤊 those𐤄𐤀𐤋 cities,𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 and all the plain,𐤄𐤊𐤊𐤓 and all the inhabitants𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤉 of the cities,𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 and that which grew𐤅𐤑𐤌𐤇 upon the ground.𐤄𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤄 καὶ κατέστρεψεν τὰς πόλεις ταύτας ἐν αἷς κατῴκει ἐν αὐταῖς Λὼτ κοὶ περίοικον καὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν καὶ τὰ ἀνατέλλοντα ἐκ τῆς γῆς. ²⁶ But his wife𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅 looked back𐤅𐤕𐤁𐤈 from behind him,𐤌𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤅 and she became a pillar𐤍𐤑𐤉𐤁 of salt.𐤌𐤋𐤇 καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ εἰς D τὰ ὀπίσω, καὶ ἐγένετο στήλη ἁλός.’ ²⁷ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 gat up early𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤌 in the morning𐤁𐤁𐤒𐤓 to the place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 where he stood𐤏𐤌𐤃 before𐤐𐤍𐤉 the Lord:𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 ὤρθρισεν δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τὸ πρωὶ εἰς τὸν τόπον οὗ ἱστήκει ἐναντίον Κυρίου, ²⁸ And he looked𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤒𐤐 toward𐤐𐤍𐤉 Sodom𐤎𐤃𐤌 and Gomorrah,𐤅𐤏𐤌𐤓𐤄 and toward𐤐𐤍𐤉 all the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 of the plain,𐤄𐤊𐤊𐤓 and beheld,𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 and, lo, the smoke𐤒𐤉𐤈𐤓 of the country𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 went up𐤏𐤋𐤄 as the smoke𐤊𐤒𐤉𐤈𐤓 of a furnace.𐤄𐤊𐤁𐤔𐤍 καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρας καὶ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς τῆς περιχείρου, καὶ ἴδεν· καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνέβαινεν φλὸξ τῆς γῆς ὡσεὶ ἀτμὶς καμίνου. ²⁹ And it came to pass, when God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 destroyed𐤁𐤔𐤇𐤕 the cities𐤏𐤓𐤉 of the plain,𐤄𐤊𐤊𐤓 that God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 remembered𐤅𐤉𐤆𐤊𐤓 Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and sent𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 out of the midst𐤌𐤕𐤅𐤊 of the overthrow,𐤄𐤄𐤐𐤊𐤄 when he overthrew𐤁𐤄𐤐𐤊 the cities𐤄𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 in the which Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 dwelt.𐤉𐤔𐤁 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐκτρίψαι κύριον πάσας τὰς πόλεις τῆς περιοίκου, ἐμνήσθη ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν τὸν Λὼτ ἐκ μέσου τῆς καταστροφῆς, ἐν τῷ καταστρέψαι κύριον τὰς πόλεις ἐν αἷς κατῴκει ἐν αὐταῖς Λώτ. ³⁰ And Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 went up𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤋 out of Zoar,𐤌𐤑𐤅𐤏𐤓 and dwelt𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁 in the mountain,𐤁𐤄𐤓 and his two𐤅𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤅 with him; for he feared𐤉𐤓𐤀 to dwell𐤋𐤔𐤁𐤕 in Zoar:𐤁𐤑𐤅𐤏𐤓 and he dwelt𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁 in a cave,𐤁𐤌𐤏𐤓𐤄 he and his two𐤅𐤔𐤕𐤉 daughters.𐤁𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤅 Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Λὼτ ἐκ Σήγωρ, καὶ ἐκάθητο ἐν τῷ ὄρει καὶ αἱ δύο θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ· ἐφοβήθη γὰρ κατοικῆσαι ἐν Σήγωρ· καὶ ᾤκησεν ἐν τῷ σπηλαίῳ αὐτὸς καὶ αἱ δύο θυγατέρες αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ. ³¹ And the firstborn𐤄𐤁𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤄 said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto the younger,𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤄 Our father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 is old,𐤆𐤒𐤍 and there is not a man𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤔 in the earth𐤁𐤀𐤓𐤑 to come in𐤋𐤁𐤅𐤀 unto us after the manner𐤊𐤃𐤓𐤊 of all the earth:𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 εἶπεν δὲ ἡ πρεσβυτέρα πρὸς τὴν νεωτέραν Ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν πρεσβύτερος, καὶ οὐδείς ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὃς εἰσελεύσεται πρὸς ἡμᾶς, ὡς καθήκει πάσῃ τῇ γῇ· ³² Come, let us make𐤍𐤔𐤒𐤄 our father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 drink wine,𐤉𐤉𐤍 and we will lie𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤄 with him, that we may preserve𐤅𐤍𐤇𐤉𐤄 seed𐤆𐤓𐤏 of our father.𐤌𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 δεῦρο οὖν ποτίσωμεν τὸν πατέρα ἡμῶν οἶνον καὶ κοιμηθῶμεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξαναστήσωμεν ἐκ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν σπέρμα. ³³ And they made𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤒𐤉𐤍 their father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤍 drink wine𐤉𐤉𐤍 that night:𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 and the firstborn𐤄𐤁𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤄 went in,𐤅𐤕𐤁𐤀 and lay𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤊𐤁 with her father;𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄 and he perceived𐤉𐤃𐤏 not when she lay down,𐤁𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤄 nor when she arose.𐤅𐤁𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤄 ἐπότισαν δὲ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν οἶνον ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ταύτῃ, καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα ἡ πρεσβυτέρα ἐκοιμήθη μετὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην· καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ἐν τῷ κοιμηθῆναι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀναστῆναι. ³⁴ And it came to pass on the morrow,𐤌𐤌𐤇𐤓𐤕 that the firstborn𐤄𐤁𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤄 said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto the younger,𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤄 Behold, I lay𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤕𐤉 yesternight𐤀𐤌𐤔 with my father:𐤀𐤁𐤉 let us make him drink𐤍𐤔𐤒𐤍𐤅 wine𐤉𐤉𐤍 this night𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 also; and go thou in,𐤅𐤁𐤀𐤉 and lie𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤉 with him, that we may preserve𐤅𐤍𐤇𐤉𐤄 seed𐤆𐤓𐤏 of our father.𐤌𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤍𐤅 ἐγένετο δὲ τῇ ἐπαύριον καὶ εἶπεν ἡ πρεσβυτέρα πρὸς τὴν νεωτέραν Ἰδοῦ ἐκοιμήθην ἐχθὲς μετὰ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν· ποτίσωμεν αὐτὸν οἶνον καὶ τὴν νύκτα ταύτην, καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα κοιμήθητι μετ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξαναστήσωμεν ἐκ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν σπέρμα. ³⁵ And they made𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤒𐤉𐤍 their father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤍 drink wine𐤉𐤉𐤍 that𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀 night𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 also: and the younger𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤄 arose,𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤌 and lay𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤊𐤁 with him; and he perceived𐤉𐤃𐤏 not when she lay down,𐤁𐤔𐤊𐤁𐤄 nor when she arose.𐤅𐤁𐤒𐤌𐤄 ἐπότισαν δὲ καὶ ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ἐκείνῃ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν οἶνον, καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα ἡ νεωτέρα ἐκοιμήθη μετὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς· καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ἐν τῷ κοιμηθῆναι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀναστῆναι. ³⁶ Thus were both𐤔𐤕𐤉 the daughters𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 of Lot𐤋𐤅𐤈 with child𐤅𐤕𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤍 by their father.𐤌𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤄𐤍 καὶ συνέλαβον αἱ δύο θυγατέρες Λὼτ ἐκ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν. ³⁷ And the firstborn𐤄𐤁𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤄 bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 a son,𐤁𐤍 and called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Moab:𐤌𐤅𐤀𐤁 the same𐤄𐤅𐤀 is the father𐤀𐤁𐤉 of the Moabites𐤌𐤅𐤀𐤁 unto this day.𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 καὶ ἔτεκεν ἡ πρεσβυτέρα υἱόν, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Μωὰβ λέγουσα Ἐκ τοῦ πατρός μου· οὗτος πατὴρ Μωαβιτῶν ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας. ³⁸ And the younger,𐤅𐤄𐤑𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤄 she also bare𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 a son,𐤁𐤍 and called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 his name𐤔𐤌𐤅 Ben–ammi:𐤁𐤍 the same is the father𐤀𐤁𐤉 of the children𐤁𐤍𐤉 of Ammon𐤏𐤌𐤅𐤍 unto this day.𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 𐤎 ἔτεκεν δὲ καὶ ἡ νεωτέρα υἱόν, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἀμμάν, ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ γένους μου· οὗτος πατὴρ ’ ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας.
