Chapter 22 ¹ And it came to pass after𐤀𐤇𐤓 these things,𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 that God𐤅𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 did tempt𐤍𐤎𐤄 Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Abraham:𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold, here I am. Καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ὁ θεὸς ἐπείραζεν τὸν Ἀβραάμ· καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν Ἀβραὰμ Ἀβραάμ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ποὺ ἐγώ. ² And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Take now𐤒𐤇 thy son,𐤁𐤍𐤊 thine only𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤃𐤊 son Isaac,𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 whom thou lovest,𐤀𐤄𐤁𐤕 and get thee into the land𐤀𐤓𐤑 of Moriah;𐤄𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤄 and offer him𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤋𐤄𐤅 there for a burnt offering𐤋𐤏𐤋𐤄 upon one𐤀𐤇𐤃 of the mountains𐤄𐤄𐤓𐤉𐤌 which I will tell𐤀𐤌𐤓 thee of. καὶ εἶπεν Λάβε τὸν υἱόν σου τὸν ἀγαπητὸν ὅν ἠγάπησας, τὸν Ἰσαάκ, καὶ πορεύθητι εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ὑψηλήν , καὶ ἀνένεγκον αὐτὸν ἐκεὶ εἰς ὁλοκάρπωσιν ἐφ’ ἕλ’ τῶν ὀρέων ὦν ἄν σοι εἴπω. ³ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 rose up early𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤌 in the morning,𐤁𐤁𐤒𐤓 and saddled𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤁𐤔 his ass,𐤇𐤌𐤓𐤅 and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 two𐤔𐤍𐤉 of his young men𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤅 with him, and Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his son,𐤁𐤍𐤅 and clave𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤒𐤏 the wood𐤏𐤑𐤉 for the burnt offering,𐤏𐤋𐤄 and rose up,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌 and went unto the place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 of which God𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 had told𐤀𐤌𐤓 him. ἀναστὰς δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τὸ πρωὶ ἐπέσαξεν τὴν ὄνον αὐτοῦ· παρέλαβεν δὲ μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ δύο παῖδας καὶ Ἰσαὰκ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ σχίσας ξύλα εἰς ἀναστὰς ἐπορεύθη. καὶ ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον ὅν εἶπεν αὐτῶ ὁ θεὸς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ. ⁴ Then on the third𐤄𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤉 day𐤁𐤉𐤅𐤌 Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 lifted up𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 his eyes,𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅 and saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 the place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 afar off.𐤌𐤓𐤇𐤒 καὶ ἀναβλέψας Ἀβραὰμ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἷεν τὸν τόπον μακρόθεν· ⁵ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his young men,𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤅 Abide𐤔𐤁𐤅 ye here with the ass;𐤄𐤇𐤌𐤅𐤓 and I and the lad𐤅𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 will go yonder𐤊𐤄 and worship,𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤄 and come again𐤅𐤍𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤄 to you. καὶ εἶπεν Ἀβραὰμ τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ Καθίσατε αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῆς ὄνου, ἐγὼ δὲ καὶ τὸ παιδίον διελευσόμεθα ἕως ὧδε· καὶ προσκυνήσαντες ἀναστρέψωμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς. ⁶ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 the wood𐤏𐤑𐤉 of the burnt offering,𐤄𐤏𐤋𐤄 and laid𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌 it upon Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his son;𐤁𐤍𐤅 and he took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 the fire𐤄𐤀𐤔 in his hand,𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤅 and a knife;𐤄𐤌𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤕 and they went both𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 of them together.𐤉𐤇𐤃𐤅 ἔλαβεν δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τὰ ξύλα τῆς ὁλοκαρπώσεως καὶ ἐπέθηκεν Ἰσαὰκ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ· ἔλαβεν δὲ κοὶ τὸ πῦρ μετὰ καὶ καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν, καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ δύο ἅμα. ⁷ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 spake𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 My father:𐤀𐤁𐤉 and he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Here am I, my son.𐤁𐤍𐤉 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold the fire𐤄𐤀𐤔 and the wood:𐤅𐤄𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌 but where is the lamb𐤄𐤔𐤄 for a burnt offering?𐤋𐤏𐤋𐤄 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰσαὰκ πρὸς Ἀβραὰμ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ εἴπας Πάτερ· ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Τί ἐστιν, τέκνον ; λέγων ἰδοὺ τὸ πῦρ καὶ τὰ ξύλα· ποῦ ἔστιν τὸ πρόβατον τὸ εἰς ὁλοκάρπωσιν ; ⁸ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 My son,𐤁𐤍𐤉 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 will provide𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤄 himself a lamb𐤄𐤔𐤄 for a burnt offering:𐤋𐤏𐤋𐤄 so they went both of them𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 together.𐤉𐤇𐤃𐤅 εἶπεν δὲ Ἀβραάμ Ὁ θεὸς ὄψεται ἅμα ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον ὃν εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεός. ⁹ And they came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀𐤅 to the place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 which God𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 had told𐤀𐤌𐤓 him of; and Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 built𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤍 an altar𐤄𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 there, and laid𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤓𐤊 the wood𐤄𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌 in order, and bound𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤃 Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his son,𐤁𐤍𐤅 and laid𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌 him on the altar𐤄𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 upon𐤌𐤌𐤏𐤋 the wood.𐤋𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌 καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ Ἀβραὰμ θυσιαστήριον καὶ ἐπέθηκεν τὰ ξύλα· καὶ συμποδίσας Ἰσαὰκ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐπάνω τῶν ξύλων. ¹⁰ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 stretched forth𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 his hand,𐤉𐤃𐤅 and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 the knife𐤄𐤌𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤕 to slay𐤋𐤔𐤇𐤈 his son.𐤁𐤍𐤅 καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Ἀβραὰμ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ λαβεῖν τὴν μάχαιραν, σφάξαι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ. ¹¹ And the angel𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊 of the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 unto him out of heaven,𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 Abraham:𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Here am I. καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἀβραὰμ Ἀβραάμ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ. ¹² And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Lay𐤕𐤔𐤋𐤇 not thine hand𐤉𐤃𐤊 upon𐤀𐤋 the lad,𐤄𐤍𐤏𐤓 neither do thou𐤕𐤏𐤔 any thing𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤄 unto him: for now𐤏𐤕𐤄 I know𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤉 that thou fearest𐤉𐤓𐤀 God,𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 seeing thou hast not𐤅𐤋𐤀 withheld𐤇𐤔𐤊𐤕 thy son,𐤁𐤍𐤊 thine only𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤃𐤊 son from me. καὶ εἶπεν Μὴ ἐπιβάλῃς τὴν χεῖρά σου ἐπὶ τὸ παιδάριον, μηδὲ ποιήσης αὐτῷ μηδέν· νῦν γὰρ ἔγνων ὅτι φοβῇ τὸν θεὸν σύ, καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσω τοῦ υἱοῦ σου τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ δι’ ἐμέ. ¹³ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 lifted up𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 his eyes,𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅 and looked,𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 and behold behind𐤀𐤇𐤓 him a ram𐤀𐤉𐤋 caught𐤍𐤀𐤇𐤆 in a thicket𐤁𐤎𐤁𐤊 by his horns:𐤁𐤒𐤓𐤍𐤉𐤅 and Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 went and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 the ram,𐤄𐤀𐤉𐤋 and offered him up𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤋𐤄𐤅 for a burnt offering𐤋𐤏𐤋𐤄 in the stead𐤕𐤇𐤕 of his son.𐤁𐤍𐤅 καὶ ἀναβλέψας Ἀβραὰμ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ ἴδεν, καὶ ἰδοὺ κριὸς εἷς κατεχόμενος ἐν φυτῷ σαβὲκ τῶν κεράτων . καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ἀβραὰμ καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν κριόν, καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν εἰς ὁλοκάρπωσιν ἀντὶ Ἰσαὰκ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ. ¹⁴ And Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 the name𐤔𐤌 of that place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 Jehovah–jireh: as𐤀𐤔𐤓 it is said𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to this day,𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 In the mount𐤁𐤄𐤓 of the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 it shall be seen.𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤄 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ἀβραὰμ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου κύριος ἴδεν· ἵνα εἴπωσιν σήμερον Ἐν τῷ ὄρει κύριος ὤφθη. ¹⁵ And the angel𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊 of the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 unto Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 out of heaven𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 the second time,𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤕 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἄγγελος κυρίου τὸν Ἀβραὰμ τερον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ λέγων ¹⁶ And said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 By myself have I sworn,𐤍𐤔𐤁𐤏𐤕𐤉 saith𐤍𐤀𐤌 the Lord,𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 for because𐤉𐤏𐤍 𐤀𐤔𐤓 thou hast done𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 this thing,𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓 and hast not𐤅𐤋𐤀 withheld𐤇𐤔𐤊𐤕 thy son,𐤁𐤍𐤊 thine only𐤉𐤇𐤉𐤃𐤊 son: Κατ᾿ ἐμαυτοῦ ὤμοσα, λέγει κύριος, οὗ εἵνεκεν ἐποίησας τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσω τοῦ υἱοῦ σου τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ δι’ ἐμέ, ¹⁷ That in blessing𐤁𐤓𐤊 I will bless𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊 thee, and in multiplying𐤅𐤄𐤓𐤁𐤄 I will multiply𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤄 thy seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 as the stars𐤊𐤊𐤅𐤊𐤁𐤉 of the heaven,𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 and as the sand𐤅𐤊𐤇𐤅𐤋 which is upon the sea𐤄𐤉𐤌 shore;𐤔𐤐𐤕 and thy seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 shall possess𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤔 the gate𐤔𐤏𐤓 of his enemies;𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉𐤅 εἰ μὴν μὴν εὐλογῶν εὐλογήσω σε, καὶ πλῆ πληθυνῶ τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τοὺς ἀστέρας τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ὡς τὴν τὴν παρὰ τὸ χεῖλος τῆς θαλάσσης· καὶ κληρονομήσει τὸ σπέρμα σου τὰς πόλεις τῶν ὑπεναντίων. ¹⁸ And in thy seed𐤁𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 shall all the nations𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤉 of the earth𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 be blessed;𐤅𐤄𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤅 because𐤏𐤒𐤁 𐤀𐤔𐤓 thou hast obeyed𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕 my voice.𐤁𐤒𐤋𐤉 καὶ ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν τῷ σπέρματι σου πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, ἀνθ’ ὦν ὑπήκουσας τῆς ἐμῆς φωνῆς. ¹⁹ So Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 returned𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁 unto his young men,𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤅 and they rose up𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌𐤅 and went together𐤉𐤇𐤃𐤅 to Beer–sheba;𐤁𐤀𐤓 and Abraham𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 dwelt𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁 at Beer–sheba.𐤔𐤁𐤏 ἀπεστράφη δὲ Ἀβραὰμ πρὸς τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀναστάντες ἐπορεύθησαν ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου· καὶ κατῴκησεν Ἀβραὰμ ἐπὶ τῷ φρέατι τοῦ ὅρκου. ²⁰ And it came to pass after𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 these things,𐤄𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 that it was told𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤃 Abraham,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold, Milcah,𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤄 she hath also born𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 children𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 unto thy brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 Nahor;𐤋𐤍𐤇𐤅𐤓 Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα καὶ ἀνηηέλη τῷ Ἀβραὰμ λέγοντες Ἰδοὺ τέτοκεν Μελχὰ καὶ αὐτὴ υἱοὺς Ναχώρ τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου, ²¹ Huz𐤏𐤅𐤑 his firstborn,𐤁𐤊𐤓𐤅 and Buz𐤁𐤅𐤆 his brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 and Kemuel𐤒𐤌𐤅𐤀𐤋 the father𐤀𐤁𐤉 of Aram,𐤀𐤓𐤌 τὸν Ὢξ πρωτότοκον καὶ τὸν Βαὺξ ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὸν Καμουὴλ πατέρα Σύρων, ²² And Chesed,𐤊𐤔𐤃 and Hazo,𐤇𐤆𐤅 and Pildash,𐤐𐤋𐤃𐤔 and Jidlaph,𐤉𐤃𐤋𐤐 and Bethuel.𐤁𐤕𐤅𐤀𐤋 καὶ τὸν Χάσζαδ καὶ τὸν Ἁζαῦ καὶ τὸν φαλδὰς καὶ τὸν Ἰελδὰφ καὶ τὸν Βαθουήλ. ²³ And Bethuel𐤅𐤁𐤕𐤅𐤀𐤋 begat𐤉𐤋𐤃 Rebekah:𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 these eight𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤄 Milcah𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤄 did bear𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤄 to Nahor,𐤋𐤍𐤇𐤅𐤓 Abraham's𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 brother.𐤀𐤇𐤉 καὶ Βαθουὴλ ἐγέννησεν τὴν ῾Ρεβέκκαν. ὀκτὼ οὗτοι υἱοὶ οὓς ἔτεκεν Μελχὰ τῷ Ναχώρ τῷ ἀδελφῷ Ἀβραάμ. ²⁴ And his concubine,𐤅𐤐𐤉𐤋𐤂𐤔𐤅 whose name𐤅𐤔𐤌𐤄 was Reumah,𐤓𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤄 she bare𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤃 also Tebah,𐤈𐤁𐤇 and Gaham,𐤂𐤇𐤌 and Thahash,𐤕𐤇𐤔 and Maachah.𐤌𐤏𐤊𐤄 𐤎 καὶ ἡ παλλακὴ αὐτοῦ ᾗ ὄνομα Ῥεηρά, ἔτεκεν καὶ αὐτὴ τὸν Τάβεκ καὶ τὸν Τάαμ καὶ τὸν Τόχος καὶ τὸν Μωχά.
