Chapter 32 ¹ And Jacob𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 went𐤄𐤋𐤊 on his way,𐤋𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤅 and the angels𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤉 of God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 met𐤅𐤉𐤐𐤂𐤏𐤅 him. XXXIIεἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ὁδόν· καὶ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἴδεν παρεμβολὴν θεοῦ παρεμβεβληκυῖαν, καὶ συνήντησαν αὐτῷ οἱ ἄγγελοι τοῦ θεοῦ. ² And when Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 saw them,𐤓𐤀𐤌 he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 This is God's𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 host:𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤄 and he called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 the name𐤔𐤌 of that place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 Mahanaim.𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤉𐤌 𐤐 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰακώβ, ἡνίκα ἴδεν αὐτούς, Παρεμβολὴ θεοῦ αὕτη· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Παπεμβολαί. ³ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 sent𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 messengers𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤉𐤌 before him𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 to Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 his brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 unto the land𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤄 of Seir,𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤓 the country𐤔𐤃𐤄 of Edom.𐤀𐤃𐤅𐤌 Ἀπέστειλεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἀγγέλους πρὸς Ἠσαὺ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Σηεὴρ εἰς χώραν Ἐδώμ, ⁴ And he commanded𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤅 them, saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Thus shall ye speak𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅𐤍 unto my lord𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 Esau;𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅 Thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 saith𐤀𐤌𐤓 thus, I have sojourned𐤂𐤓𐤕𐤉 with Laban,𐤋𐤁𐤍 and stayed there𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤓 until now: καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς λέγων Οὕτως ἐρεῖτε τῷ κυρίῳ μου Ἠσαύ Οὕτως λέγει ὁ παῖς σου Ἰακώβ Μετὰ Λαβὰν παρῴκησα καὶ ἐχρόνισα ἕως τοῦ νῦν· ⁵ And I have oxen,𐤔𐤅𐤓 and asses,𐤅𐤇𐤌𐤅𐤓 flocks,𐤑𐤀𐤍 and menservants,𐤅𐤏𐤁𐤃 and womenservants:𐤅𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤄 and I have sent𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤄 to tell𐤋𐤄𐤂𐤉𐤃 my lord,𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 that I may find𐤋𐤌𐤑𐤀 grace𐤇𐤍 in thy sight.𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤊 καὶ ἐγένοντο μοι βόες καὶ ὄνοι καὶ πρόβατα καὶ παῖδες καὶ παιδίσκαι· καὶ ἀπέστειλα ἀναγγεῖλαι τῷ κυρίῳ μου Ἠσαύ, ἵνα εὕρῃ ὁ παῖς σου χάριν ἐναντίον σου. ⁶ And the messengers𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤉𐤌 returned𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 to Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 We came𐤁𐤀𐤍𐤅 to thy brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 Esau,𐤏𐤔𐤅 and also he cometh𐤄𐤋𐤊 to meet thee, and four hundred𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 men𐤀𐤉𐤔 with him. καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν οἱ ἄγγελοι πρὸς Ἰακὼβ λέγοντες Ἤλθομεν πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου Ἠσαύ, καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς συνάντησίν σοι, καὶ τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες μετ’ αὐτοῦ. ⁷ Then Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 was greatly𐤌𐤀𐤃 afraid𐤅𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤀 and distressed:𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤓 and he divided𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤑 the people𐤄𐤏𐤌 that was with him, and the flocks,𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 and herds,𐤄𐤁𐤒𐤓 and the camels,𐤅𐤄𐤂𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤌 into two𐤋𐤔𐤍𐤉 bands;𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤅𐤕 ἐφοβεῖτο Ἰακὼβ σφόδρα, καὶ ἡπορεῖτο· καὶ διεῖλεν τὸν λαὸν τὸν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ τὰ πρόβατα εἰς δύο παρεμβολάς. ⁸ And said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 If Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 come𐤉𐤁𐤅𐤀 to the one𐤄𐤀𐤇𐤕 company,𐤄𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤄 and smite it,𐤅𐤄𐤊𐤄𐤅 then the other company𐤄𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤄 which is left𐤄𐤍𐤔𐤀𐤓 shall escape.𐤋𐤐𐤋𐤉𐤈𐤄 καὶ εἶπεν Ἰακώβ Ἐὰν ἔλθῃ Ἠσαὺ εἰς παρ’ ἐμβολὴν μίαν καὶ ἐκκόψῃ αὐτήν, ἔσται ἡ παρεμβολὴ ἡ δευτέρα εἰς τὸ σώζεσθαι. ⁹ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 O God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 Abraham,𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 and God𐤅𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 of my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 Isaac,𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 which saidst𐤄𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto me, Return𐤔𐤅𐤁 unto thy country,𐤋𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤊 and to thy kindred,𐤅𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤋𐤃𐤕𐤊 and I will deal well𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤈𐤉𐤁𐤄 with thee: εἶπεν δὲ Ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Ἀβραὰμ καὶ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Ἰσαάκ, κύριε ὁ εἴπας μοι Ἀπότρεχε εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς γενέσεως σου, καὶ εὖ σε ποιήσω· ¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least𐤒𐤈𐤍𐤕𐤉 of all the mercies,𐤄𐤇𐤎𐤃𐤉𐤌 and of all the truth,𐤄𐤀𐤌𐤕 which thou hast shewed𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 unto thy servant;𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 for with my staff𐤁𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤉 I passed over𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤕𐤉 this Jordan;𐤄𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤍 and now I am become two𐤋𐤔𐤍𐤉 bands.𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤅𐤕 ἱκανοῦσαί μοι ἀπὸ πάσης δικαιοσύνης καὶ ἀπὸ πάσης ἁληθείας ἧς ἐποίησας τῷ παιδί σου· ἐν γὰρ τῇ ῥάβδῳ μου διέβην τὸν Ἰορδάνην τοῦτον, νῦν δὲ γέγονα εἰς δύο παρεμβολάς. ¹¹ Deliver me,𐤄𐤑𐤉𐤋𐤍𐤉 I pray thee, from the hand𐤌𐤉𐤃 of my brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉 from the hand𐤌𐤉𐤃 of Esau:𐤏𐤔𐤅 for I fear𐤉𐤓𐤀 him, lest he will come𐤉𐤁𐤅𐤀 and smite me,𐤅𐤄𐤊𐤍𐤉 and the mother𐤀𐤌 with𐤏𐤋 the children.𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌 ἐξελοῦ με ἐκ χειρὸς τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ μου Ἠσαύ· ὅτι φοβοῦμαι ἐγὼ αὐτόν, μή ποτε ἐλθὼν πατάξῃ με καὶ μητέρα ἐπὶ τέκνοις. ¹² And thou saidst,𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕 I will surely𐤄𐤉𐤈𐤁 do thee good,𐤀𐤉𐤈𐤉𐤁 and make𐤅𐤔𐤌𐤕𐤉 thy seed𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤊 as the sand𐤊𐤇𐤅𐤋 of the sea,𐤄𐤉𐤌 which cannot be numbered𐤉𐤎𐤐𐤓 for multitude.𐤌𐤓𐤁 σὺ δὲ καλῶς εὖ σε ποιήσω, καὶ θήσω τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τὴν ἄμμον τῆς θαλάσσης, ἣ οὐκ ἀριθμηθήσεται ἀπὸ τοῦ πλήθους. ¹³ And he lodged𐤅𐤉𐤋𐤍 there that same night;𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 of that which came𐤄𐤁𐤀 to his hand𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤅 a present𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 for Esau𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅 his brother;𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐκεῖ τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην. καὶ ἔλαβεν ὧν ἔφερεν δῶρα καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Ἠσαὺ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ, ¹⁴ Two hundred𐤌𐤀𐤕𐤉𐤌 she goats,𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 and twenty𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 he goats,𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤌 two hundred𐤌𐤀𐤕𐤉𐤌 ewes,𐤓𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤌 and twenty𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 rams,𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤌 αἶγας διακοσίας, εἴκοσι, πρόβατα διακόσια, κριοὺς εἴκοσι, ¹⁵ Thirty𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤉𐤌 milch𐤌𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤒𐤅𐤕 camels𐤂𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤌 with their colts,𐤅𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤌 forty𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤌 kine,𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 and ten𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 bulls,𐤅𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤌 twenty𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌 she asses,𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤕 and ten𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 foals.𐤅𐤏𐤉𐤓𐤌 καμήλους θηλαζούσας καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτῶν τριάκοντα, βόας τεσσεράκοντα, ταύρους δέκα, ὄνους εἴκοσι, πώλους δέκα. ¹⁶ And he delivered𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 them into the hand𐤁𐤉𐤃 of his servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤅 every drove𐤏𐤃𐤓 by themselves; and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his servants,𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤅 Pass over𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤅 before me,𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 and put𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤌𐤅 a space𐤅𐤓𐤅𐤇 betwixt𐤁𐤉𐤍 drove𐤏𐤃𐤓 and𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤍 drove.𐤏𐤃𐤓 καὶ ἔδωκεν διὰ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ, ποίμνιον κατὰ μόνας. εἶπεν δὲ τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ ἔμπροσθέν μου, καὶ διάστημα ποιεῖτε ἀνὰ μέσον ποίμνης καὶ ποίμνης. ¹⁷ And he commanded𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤅 the foremost,𐤄𐤓𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤍 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 When Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 my brother𐤀𐤇𐤉 meeteth thee,𐤉𐤐𐤂𐤔𐤊 and asketh thee,𐤅𐤔𐤀𐤋𐤊 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊 thee? καὶ ἐνετείλατο τῷ πρώτῳ λέγων Ἐάν σοι συναντήσῃ Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἐρωτᾷ σε λέγων τίνος εἶ ; καὶ ποῦ πορεύῃ ; καὶ τίνος ταῦτα τὰ προπορευόμενά σου ; ¹⁸ Then thou shalt say,𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕 They be thy servant𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 Jacob's;𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 it is a present𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 sent𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤇𐤄 unto my lord𐤋𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉 Esau:𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅 and, behold, also he is behind us.𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤍𐤅 καὶ ἐρεῖς τοῦ παιδός σου Ἰακώβ· δῶρα ἀπέσταλκεν τῷ κυρίῳ μου Ἠσαύ, καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτὸς ὀπίσω ἡμῶν. ¹⁹ And so𐤂𐤌 commanded he𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤅 the second,𐤄𐤔𐤍𐤉 and the third,𐤄𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤉 and all that followed𐤄𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤉𐤌 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 the droves,𐤄𐤏𐤃𐤓𐤉𐤌 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 On this manner𐤊𐤃𐤁𐤓 shall ye speak𐤕𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅𐤍 unto Esau,𐤏𐤔𐤅 when ye find𐤁𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤊𐤌 him. καὶ ἐνετείλατο τῷ πρώτῳ καὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ καὶ τῷ τρίτῳ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς προπορευομένοις ὀπίσω τῶν ποιμνίων τούτων λέγων Τατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο λαλήσατε τῷ Ἠσαὺ ἐν τῷ εὑρεῖν ὑμᾶς αὐτόν, ²⁰ And say ye𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕𐤌 moreover,𐤂𐤌 Behold, thy servant𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤊 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 is behind us.𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤍𐤅 For he said,𐤀𐤌𐤓 I will appease𐤀𐤊𐤐𐤓𐤄 him𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 with the present𐤁𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 that goeth𐤄𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕 before me,𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 and afterward𐤅𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 I will see𐤀𐤓𐤀𐤄 his face;𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 peradventure he will accept𐤉𐤔𐤀 of me.𐤐𐤍𐤉 καὶ ἐρεῖτε Ἴδου ὁ παῖς σου Ἰακὼβ παραγίνεται ὀπίσω ἡμῶν. εἶπεν γάρ Ἐξιλάσομαι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς δώροις τοῖς προπορευομένοις αὐτοῦ, καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ὄψομαι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ· ἴσως γὰρ προσδέξεται τὸ πρόσωπόν μου. ²¹ So went𐤅𐤕𐤏𐤁𐤓 the present𐤄𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤄 over before him:𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤅 and himself lodged𐤋𐤍 that night𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 in the company.𐤁𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤄 καὶ προεπορεύοντο τὰ δῶρα κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ. αὐτὸς ἐκοιμήθη τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ. ²² And he rose up𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤌 that night,𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 and took𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 his two𐤔𐤕𐤉 wives,𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤅 and his two𐤔𐤕𐤉 womenservants,𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤅 and his eleven𐤀𐤇𐤃 𐤏𐤔𐤓 sons,𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤅 and passed over𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 the ford𐤌𐤏𐤁𐤓 Jabbok.𐤉𐤁𐤒 Ἀναστὰς δὲ τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην ἔλαβεν τὰς δύο γυναῖκας καὶ τὰς δύο καὶ τὰ ἕνδεκα παιδία αὐτοῦ, καὶ διέβη τὴν διάβασιν τοῦ ²³ And he took them,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇𐤌 and sent them over𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤌 the brook,𐤄𐤍𐤇𐤋 and sent over𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 that he had. καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτοὺς καὶ διέβη τὸν χειμάρρουν, καὶ διεπάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ. ²⁴ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 was left𐤅𐤉𐤅𐤕𐤓 alone; and there wrestled𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤁𐤒 a man𐤀𐤉𐤔 with him until the breaking𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 of the day.𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤓 ὑπελείφθη δὲ Ἰακὼβ μόνος, καὶ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἄνθρωπος ἕως πρωί. ²⁵ And when he saw𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 that he prevailed𐤉𐤊𐤋 not against him, he touched𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤏 the hollow of his thigh;𐤉𐤓𐤊𐤅 and the hollow𐤁𐤊𐤐 of Jacob's𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 thigh𐤉𐤓𐤊 was out of joint,𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤏 as he wrestled𐤁𐤄𐤀𐤁𐤒𐤅 with him. ἴδεν δὲ ὅτι οὐ δύναται πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ἥψατο τοῦ πλάτους τοῦ μηροῦ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐνάρκησεν τὸ πλάτος τοῦ μηροῦ Ἰακὼβ ἐν τῷ παλαίειν αὐτὸν μετ’ αὐτοῦ. ²⁶ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Let me go,𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤍𐤉 for the day𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤓 breaketh.𐤏𐤋𐤄 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 I will not let thee go,𐤀𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤊 except𐤀𐤌 thou bless𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤍𐤉 me. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἀπόστειλόν με· ἀνέβη γὰρ ὁ ὄρθρος. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ού μή σε ἀποστείλω, ἐὰν μὴ εὐλογήσῃς με. ²⁷ And he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, What is thy name?𐤔𐤌𐤊 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Jacob.𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Τί τὸ ὄνομά σού ἐστιν; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἰακώβ. ²⁸ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Thy name𐤔𐤌𐤊 shall be called𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 no more Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 but Israel:𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 for as a prince hast thou power𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤕 with God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 and with men,𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 and hast prevailed.𐤅𐤕𐤅𐤊𐤋 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Οὐ κληθήσεται ἔτι τὸ ὄνομά σου Ἰακώβ, ἀλλὰ Ἰσραὴλ τὸ ὄνομά σου ἔσται· ὅτι ἐνίσχυσας μετὰ θεοῦ, καὶ μετὰ ἀνθρώπων δυνατός. ²⁹ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 asked𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀𐤋 him, and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Tell𐤄𐤂𐤉𐤃𐤄 me, I pray thee, thy name.𐤔𐤌𐤊 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Wherefore is it𐤆𐤄 that thou dost ask𐤕𐤔𐤀𐤋 after my name?𐤋𐤔𐤌𐤉 And he blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊 him there. ἠρώτησεν δὶ Ἰακὼβ καὶ εἶπεν Ἀνάγγειλόν μοι τὸ ὄνομά σου. καὶ εἶπεν ἵνα τί σὺ ἐρωτᾆς τὸ ὄνομά μου ; καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ· ³⁰ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 the name𐤔𐤌 of the place𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 Peniel:𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤀𐤋 for I have seen𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕𐤉 God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 face𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤌 to face,𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤌 and my life𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 is preserved.𐤅𐤕𐤍𐤑𐤋 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ἰακὼβ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Εἶδος θεοῦ· ἴδον γὰρ θεὸν πρόσωπον πρὸς πρόσωπον, καὶ ἐσώθη μου ἡ ψυχή. ³¹ And as he passed over𐤏𐤁𐤓 Penuel𐤐𐤍𐤅𐤀𐤋 the sun𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤔 rose𐤅𐤉𐤆𐤓𐤇 upon him, and he halted𐤑𐤋𐤏 upon his thigh.𐤉𐤓𐤊𐤅 ἀνέτειλεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ ἥλιος ἡνίκα παρῆλθεν τὸ Εἶδος τοῦ θεοῦ· αὐτὸς δὲ ἐπέσκαζεν τῷ μηρῷ αὐτοῦ. ³² Therefore the children𐤁𐤍𐤉 of Israel𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 eat𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤅 not of the sinew𐤂𐤉𐤃 which shrank,𐤄𐤍𐤔𐤄 which is upon the hollow𐤊𐤐 of the thigh,𐤄𐤉𐤓𐤊 unto this day:𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌 because he touched𐤍𐤂𐤏 the hollow𐤁𐤊𐤐 of Jacob's𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 thigh𐤉𐤓𐤊 in the sinew𐤁𐤂𐤉𐤃 that shrank.𐤄𐤍𐤔𐤄 ἕνεκεν γὰρ τούτου οὐ μὴ φάγωσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ τὸ νεῦρον ὃ ἐνάρκησεν, ὅ ἑστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ πλάτους τοῦ μηροῦ Ἰακώβ, ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας· ταύτης· ὅτι ἥψατο τοῦ πλάτους τοῦ μηροῦ Ἰακὼβ τοῦ νεύρου, καὶ ἐνάρκησεν.’
