Chapter 27 ¹ And it came to pass,𐤅𐤉𐤄𐤉 that when Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 was old,𐤆𐤒𐤍 and his eyes𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅 were dim,𐤅𐤕𐤊𐤄𐤉𐤍 so that he could not see,𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤕 he called𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 his eldest𐤄𐤂𐤃𐤋 son,𐤁𐤍𐤅 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, My son:𐤁𐤍𐤉 and he said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Behold, here am I. Έγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ γηρᾶσαι Ἰσαὰκ καὶ ἠμβλύνθησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ὁρᾷν· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ἠσαὺ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρεσβύτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Υἱἐ μου. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ. ἐγώ. ² And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold now, I am old,𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤕𐤉 I know𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤉 not the day𐤉𐤅𐤌 of my death:𐤌𐤅𐤕𐤉 καὶ εἶπεν Ἴδου γεγήρακα, καὶ οὐ γινώσκω τὴν ἡμέραν τῆς τελεmῆς μου· ³ Now therefore take,𐤔𐤀 I pray thee, thy weapons,𐤊𐤋𐤉𐤊 thy quiver𐤕𐤋𐤉𐤊 and thy bow,𐤅𐤒𐤔𐤕𐤊 and go out𐤅𐤑𐤀 to the field,𐤄𐤔𐤃𐤄 and take𐤅𐤑𐤅𐤃𐤄 me some venison;𐤑𐤉𐤃 νῦν οὖν λάβε τὸ σκεῦος, τήν τε φαρέτραν καὶ τὸ τόξον, καὶ ἔξελθε εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ θήρευσόν μοι θήραν· ⁴ And make𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤄 me savoury meat,𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 such as𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 I love,𐤀𐤄𐤁𐤕𐤉 and bring𐤅𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤄 it to me, that I may eat;𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤄 that my soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 may bless𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊 thee before𐤁𐤈𐤓𐤌 I die.𐤀𐤌𐤅𐤕 καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα ὡς φιλῶ ἐγώ, καὶ ἔνεγκόν μοι ἵνα φάγω· ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με. ⁵ And Rebekah𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 heard𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕 when Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 spake𐤁𐤃𐤁𐤓 to Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 his son.𐤁𐤍𐤅 And Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 went to the field𐤄𐤔𐤃𐤄 to hunt𐤋𐤑𐤅𐤃 for venison,𐤑𐤉𐤃 and to bring𐤋𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀 it. Ῥεβέκκα δὲ ἤκουσεν λαλοῦντος Ἰσαὰκ πρὸς Ἠσαὺ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ· ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ἠσαὺ εἰς τὸ πεδίον θηρεῦσαι θήραν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ. ⁶ And Rebekah𐤅𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 spake𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤄 unto Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 her son,𐤁𐤍𐤄 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 Behold, I heard𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕𐤉 thy father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 speak𐤌𐤃𐤁𐤓 unto Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 thy brother,𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 saying,𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 'Ρεβέκκα δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν ἐλάσσω Ιδε ἐγὼ ἤκουσα τοῦ πατρός σου λαλοῦντος πρὸς Ἠσαὺ τὸν ἀδελφόν σου λέγοντος ⁷ Bring𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤄 me venison,𐤑𐤉𐤃 and make𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤄 me savoury meat,𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 that I may eat,𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤄 and bless𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊𐤄 thee before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 my death.𐤌𐤅𐤕𐤉 Ἔνευκόν μοι θήραν, καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα· ἵνα φαγὼν εὐλογήσω σε ἐναντίον Κυρίου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με. ⁸ Now therefore, my son,𐤁𐤍𐤉 obey𐤔𐤌𐤏 my voice𐤁𐤒𐤋𐤉 according to that which𐤋𐤀𐤔𐤓 I command𐤌𐤑𐤅𐤄 thee. νῦν οὖν, υἱέ, ἄκουσόν μου καθὰ ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι· ⁹ Go now to the flock,𐤄𐤑𐤀𐤍 and fetch𐤅𐤒𐤇 me from thence two𐤔𐤍𐤉 good𐤈𐤁𐤉𐤌 kids𐤂𐤃𐤉𐤉 of the goats;𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 and I will make𐤅𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤄 them savoury meat𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 for thy father,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 such as he loveth:𐤀𐤄𐤁 καὶ πορευθεὶς εἰς τὰ πρόβατα λάβε μοι ἐκεῖθεν δύο ἐρίφους ἁπαλοὺς καὶ καλούς, καὶ ποιήσω αὐτοὺς ἐδέσματα τῷ πατρί σου ὡς φιλεῖ· ¹⁰ And thou shalt bring𐤅𐤄𐤁𐤀𐤕 it to thy father,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 that he may eat,𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋 and that𐤀𐤔𐤓 he may bless𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊 thee before𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 his death.𐤌𐤅𐤕𐤅 καὶ εἰσοίσεις τῷ πατρί σου, καὶ Φάγεται· αἰ· ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ὁ πατήρ σου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν. ¹¹ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Rebekah𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 his mother,𐤀𐤌𐤅 Behold, Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 my brother𐤀𐤇𐤉 is a hairy𐤔𐤏𐤓 man,𐤀𐤉𐤔 and I am a smooth𐤇𐤋𐤒 man:𐤀𐤉𐤔 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ πρὸς Ῥεβέκκαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ Ἔστιν Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφός μου ἀνὴρ δασύς, ἐγὼ δὲ ἀνὴρ λεῖος· ¹² My father𐤀𐤁𐤉 peradventure will feel𐤉𐤌𐤔𐤍𐤉 me, and I shall seem𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅 to him as a deceiver;𐤊𐤌𐤕𐤏𐤕𐤏 and I shall bring𐤅𐤄𐤁𐤀𐤕𐤉 a curse𐤒𐤋𐤋𐤄 upon me, and not a blessing.𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 μή ποτε ψγλαφήσῃ με ὁ πατήρ μου, καὶ ἔσομαι ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὡς καταφρονῶν, καὶ ἐπάξω ἐπ’ ἐμαυτὸν κατάραν καὶ οὐκ εὐλογίαν. ¹³ And his mother𐤀𐤌𐤅 said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Upon me be thy curse,𐤒𐤋𐤋𐤕𐤊 my son:𐤁𐤍𐤉 only obey𐤔𐤌𐤏 my voice,𐤁𐤒𐤋𐤉 and go fetch𐤒𐤇 me them. εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἡ Ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἡ κατάρα σου, τέκνον· μόνον ὑπάκουσον τῆς φωνῆς μου, πορευθεὶς ἔνεγκαί μοι. ¹⁴ And he went, and fetched,𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 and brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 them to his mother:𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤅 and his mother𐤀𐤌𐤅 made𐤅𐤕𐤏𐤔 savoury meat,𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 such as his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 loved.𐤀𐤄𐤁 πορευθεὶς δὲ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἐδέσματα καθὰ ἐφίλει ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ. ¹⁵ And Rebekah𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 took𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤇 goodly𐤄𐤇𐤌𐤃𐤕 raiment𐤁𐤂𐤃𐤉 of her eldest𐤄𐤂𐤃𐤋 son𐤁𐤍𐤄 Esau,𐤏𐤔𐤅 which were with her in the house,𐤁𐤁𐤉𐤕 and put them upon𐤅𐤕𐤋𐤁𐤔 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 her younger𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 son:𐤁𐤍𐤄 καὶ λαβοῦσα Ῥεβέκκα τὴν στολὴν Ἠσαὺ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρέσβυ. τέρου τὴν καλήν, ἣ ἦν παρ’ αὐτῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ, καὶ ἐνέδυσεν Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον· ¹⁶ And she put𐤄𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤔𐤄 the skins𐤏𐤓𐤕 of the kids𐤂𐤃𐤉𐤉 of the goats𐤄𐤏𐤆𐤉𐤌 upon his hands,𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤅 and upon the smooth𐤇𐤋𐤒𐤕 of his neck:𐤑𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤉𐤅 καὶ τὰ δέρματα τῶν ἐρίφων περιέθηκεν ἐπὶ τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ γυμνὰ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτοῦ· ¹⁷ And she gave𐤅𐤕𐤕𐤍 the savoury meat𐤄𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 and the bread,𐤄𐤋𐤇𐤌 which she had prepared,𐤏𐤔𐤕𐤄 into the hand𐤁𐤉𐤃 of her son𐤁𐤍𐤄 Jacob.𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 καὶ ἔδωκεν τὰ ἐδέσματα καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους οὓς ἐποίησεν εἰς τὰς Ἰακὼβ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς. ¹⁸ And he came𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 unto his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 My father:𐤀𐤁𐤉 and he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Here am I; who art thou, my son?𐤁𐤍𐤉 καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ· εἶπ’ πάτερ μου· ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἴδου ἐγώ· τίς εἶ σύ, τέκνον; ¹⁹ And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 I am Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 thy firstborn;𐤁𐤊𐤓𐤊 I have done𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕𐤉 according as thou badest𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤕 me: arise,𐤒𐤅𐤌 I pray thee, sit𐤔𐤁𐤄 and eat𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤄 of my venison,𐤌𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤉 that thy soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤊 may bless𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤍𐤉 me. καὶ εἶπεν ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ Ἐγὼ Ἠσαὺ ὁ πρωτότοκός σου, καθὰ ἐλάλησάς μοι· ἀναστὰς κάθισον καὶ φάγε τῆς θήρας μου, ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ με ἡ ψυχή σου. ²⁰ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his son,𐤁𐤍𐤅 How is it that thou hast found𐤋𐤌𐤑𐤀 it so quickly,𐤌𐤄𐤓𐤕 my son?𐤁𐤍𐤉 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Because the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 thy God𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤊 brought𐤄𐤒𐤓𐤄 it to me.𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 εἶπεν δὲ Ἰσαὰκ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ Τί τοῦτο ὃ ταχὺ εὗρες, ὦ τέκνον ; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ὅ παρέδωκεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐναντίον μου. ²¹ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Come near,𐤂𐤔𐤄 I pray thee, that I may feel𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤔𐤊 thee, my son,𐤁𐤍𐤉 whether thou be my very𐤆𐤄 son𐤁𐤍𐤉 Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 or not. εἶπεν δὲ Ἰσαὰκ τῷ Ἰακώβ Ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ ψηλαφήσω σε, τέκνον, εἰ σὺ εἰ ὁ υἱός μου Ἠσαὺ ἢ οὔ. ²² And Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 went near𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔 unto Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his father;𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 and he felt𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤔𐤄𐤅 him, and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 The voice𐤄𐤒𐤋 is Jacob's𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 voice,𐤒𐤅𐤋 but the hands𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤌 are the hands𐤉𐤃𐤉 of Esau.𐤏𐤔𐤅 ἤγγισεν δὲ Ιακὼβ πρὸς Ἰσαὰκ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐψηλάφησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν Ἡ φωνὴ φωνὴ Ἰακώβ, αἱ δὲ χεῖρες χεῖρες Ἠσαύ. ²³ And he discerned𐤄𐤊𐤉𐤓𐤅 him not, because his hands𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤅 were hairy,𐤔𐤏𐤓𐤕 as his brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 Esau's𐤏𐤔𐤅 hands:𐤊𐤉𐤃𐤉 so he blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄𐤅 him. καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω αὐτόν· ἦσαν γὰρ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ὡς αἱ χεῖρες ’Hσαὺ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ δασεῖαι· καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτόν. ²⁴ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Art thou my very son𐤁𐤍𐤉 Esau?𐤏𐤔𐤅 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 I am. καὶ εἶπεν Σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ἠσαύ; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐγώ. ²⁵ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Bring it near𐤄𐤂𐤔𐤄 to me, and I will eat𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤄 of my son's𐤁𐤍𐤉 venison,𐤌𐤑𐤉𐤃 that my soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 may bless𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤊 thee. And he brought it near𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔 to him, and he did eat:𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋 and he brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 him wine,𐤉𐤉𐤍 and he drank.𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕 καὶ εἶπεν προσάγαγέ μοι καὶ φάγομαι ἀπὸ τῆς θήρας σου, τέκνον, ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου. καὶ προσήνεγκεν αὐτό, καὶ ἔφαγεν· καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτῷ οἶνον, καὶ ἔπιεν. ²⁶ And his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Come near𐤂𐤔𐤄 now, and kiss𐤅𐤔𐤒𐤄 me, my son.𐤁𐤍𐤉 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἰσαὰκ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ φίλησόν με, τέκνον. ²⁷ And he came near,𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤔 and kissed𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤒 him: and he smelled𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤇 the smell𐤓𐤉𐤇 of his raiment,𐤁𐤂𐤃𐤉𐤅 and blessed𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄𐤅 him, and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 See,𐤓𐤀𐤄 the smell𐤓𐤉𐤇 of my son𐤁𐤍𐤉 is as the smell𐤊𐤓𐤉𐤇 of a field𐤔𐤃𐤄 which the Lord𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 hath blessed:𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤅 καὶ ἐγγίσας ἐφίλησεν αὐτόν· καὶ ὠσφράνθη τὴν ὀσμὴν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν Ἴδου ὀσμὴ τοῦ υἱοῦ μου ὡς ὀσμὴ ἀγροῦ πλήρους ὄν ηύλόγησεν κύριος, ²⁸ Therefore God𐤄𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 give𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍 thee of the dew𐤌𐤈𐤋 of heaven,𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 and the fatness𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤉 of the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and plenty𐤅𐤓𐤁 of corn𐤃𐤂𐤍 and wine:𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤔 καὶ δῲη σοι ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἄνωθεν, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς, καὶ πλῆθος σίτου καὶ οἴνου. ²⁹ Let people𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 serve𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤅𐤊 thee, and nations𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤉𐤌 bow down𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 to thee: be𐤄𐤅𐤄 lord𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤓 over thy brethren,𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 and let thy mother's𐤀𐤌𐤊 sons𐤁𐤍𐤉 bow down𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 to thee: cursed𐤀𐤓𐤓𐤉𐤊 be every one that curseth𐤀𐤓𐤅𐤓 thee, and blessed𐤅𐤌𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤊 be he that blesseth𐤁𐤓𐤅𐤊 thee. καὶ δουλευσάτωσάν σοι ἔθνη, καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν σοι ἄρχοντες· καὶ γίνου κύριος τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου, καὶ προσκυνήσουσίν σε οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ πατρός σου. ὁ καταρώμενός σε ἐπικατάρατος, ὁ δὲ εὐλογῶν σε εὐλουημένος. ³⁰ And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 had made an end𐤊𐤋𐤄 of blessing𐤋𐤁𐤓𐤊 Jacob,𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 and Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 was yet𐤀𐤊 scarce𐤉𐤑𐤀 gone out𐤉𐤑𐤀 from the presence𐤐𐤍𐤉 of Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 that Esau𐤅𐤏𐤔𐤅 his brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 came in𐤁𐤀 from his hunting.𐤌𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅 Καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ παύσασθαι Ἰσαὰκ εὐλογοῦντα τὸν Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξῆλθεν Ἰακὼβ ἀπὸ προσώπου Ἰσαὰκ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, καὶ Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν ἀπὸ τῆς θήρας αὐτοῦ. ³¹ And he also had made𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤔 savoury meat,𐤌𐤈𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 and brought it𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 unto his father,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his father,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Let my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 arise,𐤉𐤒𐤌 and eat𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤊𐤋 of his son's𐤁𐤍𐤅 venison,𐤌𐤑𐤉𐤃 that thy soul𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤊 may bless𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤍𐤉 me. καὶ ἐποίησεν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐδέσματα καὶ προσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ· καὶ εἶπεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ Ἀωαστήτω ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ φαγέτω τῆς θήρας τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ, ὅπως εὐλογήσει με ἡ ψυχή σου. ³² And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Who art thou? And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 I am thy son,𐤁𐤍𐤊 thy firstborn𐤁𐤊𐤓𐤊 Esau.𐤏𐤔𐤅 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἰσαὰκ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ τίς εἰ σύ; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ υἱός σου ὁ πρωτότοκος Ἠσαύ. ³³ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 trembled𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤓𐤃 very𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤄 exceedingly,𐤇𐤓𐤃𐤄 𐤌𐤀𐤃 and said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Who? where𐤀𐤐𐤅𐤀 is he that hath taken𐤄𐤑𐤃 venison,𐤑𐤉𐤃 and brought𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤀 it me, and I have eaten𐤅𐤀𐤊𐤋 of all before thou camest,𐤕𐤁𐤅𐤀 and have blessed𐤅𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄𐤅 him? yea, and he shall be blessed.𐤁𐤓𐤅𐤊 ἐξέστη δὲ Ἰσαὰκ ἔκστασιν μεγάλην σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν τίς οὖν ὁ θηρεύσας μοι θήραν καὶ εἰσενέγκας μοι, καὶ ἔφαγον ἀπὸ πάντων πρὸ τοῦ σε εἰσελθεῖν, καὶ ηὐλόγησα αὐτόν ; καὶ εὐλογημένος ἔστω. ³⁴ And when Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 heard𐤊𐤔𐤌𐤏 the words𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 of his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 he cried𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤏𐤒 with a great𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤄 and exceeding𐤌𐤀𐤃 bitter𐤅𐤌𐤓𐤄 cry,𐤑𐤏𐤒𐤄 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his father,𐤋𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Bless𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤍𐤉 me, even me also, O my father.𐤀𐤁𐤉 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤκουσεν Ἠσαὺ τὰ ῥήματα Ἰσαὰκ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, ἀνεβόησεν Ἠσαὺ φωνὴν μεγάλην καὶ πικρὰν σφόδρα, καὶ εἶπεν Εὐλόγησον δὴ κἀμέ, πάτερ. ³⁵ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Thy brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 came𐤁𐤀 with subtilty,𐤁𐤌𐤓𐤌𐤄 and hath taken away𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤇 thy blessing.𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤊 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἐλθὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ δόλου ἔλαβεν τὴν εὐλογίαν σου. ³⁶ And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Is not he rightly𐤄𐤊𐤉 named𐤒𐤓𐤀 𐤔𐤌𐤅 Jacob?𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 for he hath supplanted me𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁𐤍𐤉 these𐤆𐤄 two times:𐤐𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 he took away𐤋𐤒𐤇 my birthright;𐤁𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉 and, behold, now he hath taken away𐤋𐤒𐤇 my blessing.𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤕𐤉 And he said,𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 Hast thou not reserved𐤀𐤑𐤋𐤕 a blessing𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 for me? καὶ εἶπεν Δικαίως ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰακώβ· ἐπτέρνικεν γάρ με ἤδη δεύτερον τοῦτο· τά τε πρωτοτοκεῖά μου εἴληφεν, καὶ νῦν ν εὐλογίαν μου. καὶ εἶπεν Ἠσαὺ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ οὐχ μοι εὐλογίαν, πάτερ; ³⁷ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 answered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto Esau,𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅 Behold, I have made𐤔𐤌𐤕𐤉𐤅 him thy lord,𐤂𐤁𐤉𐤓 and all his brethren𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤅 have I given𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 to him for servants;𐤋𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 and with corn𐤅𐤃𐤂𐤍 and wine𐤅𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤔 have I sustained𐤎𐤌𐤊𐤕𐤉𐤅 him: and what shall I do𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤄 now𐤀𐤐𐤅𐤀 unto thee, my son?𐤁𐤍𐤉 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἰσαὰκ εἶπεν τῶ Ἠσαύ Εἰ κύριον αὐτὸν ἐποίησά σου, καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὖ τοῦ ἐποίησα αὐτοῦ οἰκέτας, σίτῳ καὶ οἴνῳ ἐστήρισα αὐτόν· σοὶ δὲ τί ποιήσω, τέκνον; ³⁸ And Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto his father,𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 Hast thou but one𐤀𐤇𐤕 blessing,𐤄𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 my father?𐤀𐤁𐤉 bless𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤍𐤉 me, even me also, O my father.𐤀𐤁𐤉 And Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 lifted up𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤀 his voice,𐤒𐤋𐤅 and wept.𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤊 εἶπεν δὲ Ἠσαὺ πρὸς Ἰσαὰκ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ Μὴ εὐλογία μία σοί ἐστιν, πάτερ; εὐλάγησον δὴ κἀμέ, πάτερ. ³⁹ And Isaac𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 answered𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍 and said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Behold, thy dwelling𐤌𐤅𐤔𐤁𐤊 shall be the fatness𐤌𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤉 of the earth,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 and of the dew𐤅𐤌𐤈𐤋 of heaven𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 from above; ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἰσαὰκ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς ὦσται ἡ κατοίκησίς σου, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἄνωθεν· ⁴⁰ And by thy sword𐤇𐤓𐤁𐤊 shalt thou live,𐤕𐤇𐤉𐤄 and shalt serve𐤕𐤏𐤁𐤃 thy brother;𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion,𐤕𐤓𐤉𐤃 that thou shalt break𐤅𐤐𐤓𐤒𐤕 his yoke𐤏𐤋𐤅 from off thy neck.𐤑𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤊 καὶ ἐπὶ τῇ μαχαίρῃ σου ζήσῃ, καὶ τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου δουλεύσεις. ἱστᾶι δὲ ἡνίκα ἐὰν καθέλῃς καὶ ἐκλύσειςτὸν ζυγὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ τραχήλου σου. ⁴¹ And Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 hated𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤈𐤌 Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 because𐤏𐤋 of the blessing𐤄𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 wherewith𐤀𐤔𐤓 his father𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤅 blessed him:𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤅 and Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 said𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 in his heart,𐤁𐤋𐤁𐤅 The days𐤉𐤌𐤉 of mourning𐤀𐤁𐤋 for my father𐤀𐤁𐤉 are at hand;𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤅 then will I slay𐤅𐤀𐤄𐤓𐤂𐤄 my brother𐤀𐤇𐤉 Jacob.𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 Καὶ ἐνεκότει Ἠσαὺ τῷ Ἰακὼβ περὶ τῆς εὐλογίας ἧς εὐλάγησεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ· εἶπεν δὲ Ἠσαὺ ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτοῦ Ἐγγισάτωσαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πένθους τοῦ πατρός μου, ἵνα ἀποκτείνω Ἰακὼβ τὸν ἅδω φόν μου. ⁴² And these words𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 of Esau𐤏𐤔𐤅 her elder𐤄𐤂𐤃𐤋 son𐤁𐤍𐤄 were told𐤅𐤉𐤂𐤃 to Rebekah:𐤋𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 and she sent𐤅𐤕𐤔𐤋𐤇 and called𐤅𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 Jacob𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 her younger𐤄𐤒𐤈𐤍 son,𐤁𐤍𐤄 and said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 unto him, Behold, thy brother𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 Esau,𐤏𐤔𐤅 as touching thee, doth comfort𐤌𐤕𐤍𐤇𐤌 himself, purposing to kill𐤋𐤄𐤓𐤂𐤊 thee. ἀπηγγέλη δὲ Ῥεβέκκᾳ τὰ ῥήματα Ἠσαὺ τοῦ τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου· καὶ πέμψασα ἐκάλεσεν Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἀπειλεῖ σοι τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναί σε. ⁴³ Now therefore, my son,𐤁𐤍𐤉 obey𐤔𐤌𐤏 my voice;𐤁𐤒𐤋𐤉 and arise,𐤅𐤒𐤅𐤌 flee𐤁𐤓𐤇 thou to Laban𐤋𐤁𐤍 my brother𐤀𐤇𐤉 to Haran;𐤇𐤓𐤍𐤄 νῦν οὖν, τέκνον, ἄκουσόν μου τῆς φωνῆς, καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀπόδραθι εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν πρὸς Λαβὰν τὸν ἀδελφόν μου εἰς Χαρράν· ⁴⁴ And tarry𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤕 with him a few𐤀𐤇𐤃𐤉𐤌 days,𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 until𐤀𐤔𐤓 thy brother's𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 fury𐤇𐤌𐤕 turn away;𐤕𐤔𐤅𐤁 καὶ οἴκησον μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἡμέρας τινάς, ⁴⁵ Until thy brother's𐤀𐤇𐤉𐤊 anger𐤀𐤐 turn away𐤔𐤅𐤁 from thee, and he forget𐤅𐤔𐤊𐤇 that which thou hast done𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤕 to him: then I will send,𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤕𐤉 and fetch𐤅𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤊 thee from thence: why𐤋𐤌𐤄 should I be deprived𐤀𐤔𐤊𐤋 also of you both𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤊𐤌 in one𐤀𐤇𐤃 day?𐤉𐤅𐤌 ἕως τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν θυμὸν καὶ τὴν ὀργὴν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου ἀπὸ σοῦ, καὶ ἃ πεποίηκας αὐτῷ· καὶ ἀποστείλασα μεταπέμψομαί σε ἐκεῖθεν, μή ποτε ἀτεκνωθῶ ἀπὸ τῶν δύο ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ. ⁴⁶ And Rebekah𐤓𐤁𐤒𐤄 said𐤅𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 to Isaac,𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 I am weary𐤒𐤑𐤕𐤉 of my life𐤁𐤇𐤉𐤉 because𐤌𐤐𐤍𐤉 of the daughters𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 of Heth:𐤇𐤕 if Jacob𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 take𐤋𐤒𐤇 a wife𐤀𐤔𐤄 of the daughters𐤌𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 of Heth,𐤇𐤕 such as these which are of the daughters𐤌𐤁𐤍𐤅𐤕 of the land,𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 what good𐤋𐤌𐤄 shall my life𐤇𐤉𐤉𐤌 do me? Εἶπεν δὲ Ῥεβέκκα πρὸς Ἰσαάκ Προσώχθικα τῆ ζωῇ τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν υἱῶν Χέτ· εἰ λήμψεται Ἰακὼβ γυναῖκα ἀπὸ τῶν XXVIII
